DANUTA

NAWROCKA

Richa Agarwal Emami Chisel Art Gallery Director

Danuta Nawrocka’s art carries an extraordinary emotional charge. Nawrocka’s art release the feelings, which put the viewer into remarkable state of trance. Calm and solemn emotions at first start to vibrate, to pulse, to beat. Colour is intergrated with the drawing, metallic shades of gray are glittering and show the clarity of masterwork. The Artist’s works connect painting and drawing, where the drawing becomes the dominant element of composition and integral part of the piece of art. The drawing with the colour, the various tones of white, the pearly luminescence – timbre like a gently-touched string of the cello. Great compositions of colours show a wide variety of differing tone colors , shape the emotions and are like an impulse to cogitation. Each drawing line, every brush mark shows not only the artistic workshop, but also expression and the rythm. DaNa’s works are encoded and encrypted, and to open them we have to use a special key – the key is our imagination.

„Danuta Nawrocka’s creative work is multifaceted. The artist is identified primarily with painting, drawing and performance art. Still, there is yet another less recognizable streak in her, one which relates to popularizing the achievements of other people. It all adds up to one homogenous whole is such a way that all the four parts create a refined and distinctive character. First of all, her subtlety is so pronounced that all too clearly it shows in the context of many other artists’ strenuous efforts to be noticed in today’s realities regulating the art market.” Prof. Marian Stępak Toruń

While composing my paintings, I analyze the elusive and ambiguous concept of space in relation to time and place in which I create. Gesture is just a liberation of thought. While painting a picture, I dispel the myth of primacy of colour over the greyness of pencil lines – I integrate and weave both of the domains and so, naturally, I have built a style unique just to me.

REVIEW Danuta Nawrocka’s painting – My impressions Elaboration, subtle charm and finely delineated details – this is what struck me when I first saw Danuta Nawrocka’s painting. I get the impression that her paintings are musical instruments with an infinity of strings which the artist plucks or strikes to express her ideas and thoughts… Extremely subtle lines, much like a spider’s web, limited by the dimensions of canvas, but exceed their tight boundaries in order to continue their way beyond and into the limitless channels of imagination. The hallucinatory image forms of extraordinary delicacy, perceptible vibrations and rhythmic pulsations usher us into unique, indefinable realms – like music. The interventions of colour are accents that create an atmosphere of mystery and evoke feelings which draw us into the labyrinth of the uncharted spheres of the subconscious… From a distance, some of her works look like a microcosm. On closer examination, they astonish with intensity, internal organization, liveliness of the design. The artist’s colour scheme reminds me of the imaginary world of the Chinese lyrical abstractionist Zao Wou-ki. Due to her great sensitivity, as well as masterful craftsmanship, Danuta Nawrocka’s artistic output encourages a lot of reflection on the mystery of life and existence. prof Barbara Marcinkowska Paris 7th August 2015
