Southern California promotes a cultural attitude where everything and anything can be fixed. Whether you’re unhappy with your complexion, your body, or your relationship with a parent, every Angeleno has a friend who boasts the name of a person who can help. So when one woman found herself in the throes of getting over a difficult breakup, she had the Angelenian impulse to fix it. That’s when she had the idea of turning to hypnotherapy Los Angeles. However, reaching the idea to see a hypnotherapist was a bit of a journey for the LA Woman. At first, she tried enjoying the poeticism of heartbreak, but soon the sadness lost its Petrarchan edge. Rather than inspiring poetry, her sadness became more of an uncomfortable distraction accompanied with the feeling of a sinking heart. She tried following conventional wisdom and tried to let time heal the pain while she grieved. But it all just felt terrible. Then one day, when re-watching Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, she found the treatment she was looking for. For those of you who have not watched the part sci-fi, part magical realism Michel Gondry flick, Eternal Sunshine stars Jim Carey and Kate Winslet as a couple who have just had a painful breakup. Both grief-stricken, they independently agree to try a new medical technology that eliminates selected memory. The technology, Lacuna, Inc., erases all memory of your relationship along with the person you were in it with. The woman suddenly remembered friends who credited hypnotherapy with helping them quit smoking. Though she understood hypnotherapy was nothing like Lacuna, Inc, hypnotherapy was the closest thing to the sci-fi drama reality could offer. After researching the many hypnotherapists in Los Angeles, she finally settled on Ava Evans. When meeting with Evans, the woman described the goals she hoped to achieve. Evan explained that although hypnotherapy cannot erase negative memories, it can replace them with positive messages. Although the process took time, Evans was able to rid the woman of behavior related to pain, but not the pain itself. Today, the woman is over her heartbreak, and she thanks hypnotherapy Los Angeles.
