“Laissez les bon temps rouler,” or “Let the good times roll.” Believe me, this is something you can’t make up when it comes to the magical place known as New Orleans. It is a city that no matter what your interests are there is something to do for all or as the Cajuns like to say “Y’all” Interesting fact about the 3 colours you connect to New Orleans are the colors of Mardi Gras and have special meaning: Green for faith, purple for justice, and gold for power. That is part of the magic that you will feel in the air when you visit New Orleans and it will make you want to go back again to learn more about the people and the history of the Crescent City.

Stroll through the world’s largest stand of mature live oaks, which includes a grand oak that dates back nearly 800 years! There are also so many healthy options of food and drink in New Orleans. Vegan food and light beverages are also easy to find and very delicious. You can start the day by going for a walk or a run, or even a bike ride along the Mississippi River or even on the streets. The streets are not busy until later in the day. You may want to plan your morning in City Park where you can explore the Oaks and see the sculptures. The park is very beautiful. SENIORS LOVE IT

A

ny age is a good age to travel to New Orleans.

Jazzfest is a great place to start for a mature trip to New Orleans. Yes, that is me ... I have been 5 times and can’t wait to go again. Hearing music that is from back in the day and new artists makes this one of the best festival around. Swamp Boat Ride and Oak Alley Plantation Tours are fun. What about a steamboat brunch followed up by some line dancing to burn of those calories? Or we can sit in a courtyard on a patio, have a nightcap and call it a day and start it all over again tomorrow.

ALWAYS SOMETHING TO DO

N

ew Orleans always has something going on around town. From riding the street car, to shopping, watching the bands play on the street and just having a great time is why I love New Orleans. You do not have to eat in a fancy restaurant to have fantastic food. I have walked into places that were not flashy and had the real thing. New Orleans is that kind of place. The staff is always happy to chat and give you advice. Please do remember they make $3.00 an hour so tip them generously. That is how all servers make their money by tips. You can contact me at: sonya@talkofthetowntravel.com I look forward in helping you get there.
