Why hand protection? Hand protection is a unique form of personal protective equipment (PPE), because it is the only PPE that comes between users and their work. We use our hands for almost everything in our lives, so it is not surprising that more than 45% of all accidents affects the hand and arm. Some of these accidents could be prevented by following an occupational health strategy. By first removing the cause of the problem and covering the remaining risks with the right PPEs. For proper hand protection one needs to: • Understand the hazards at the workplace; • Assess the level of risk with respect to the hazard; • Comply with all statutory standards and guidelines; • Assess possible alternatives in the range; • Test the potential gloves to be sure that they meet all the wishes and requirements of both the users and the safety and purchase department; • Implement, monitor and manage the change process and introduce corrective actions.

My-T- Gear Carrying out work in industry is synonymous to danger. Every professional operator will endeavour to reduce the risks involved as much as possible. Wearing the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) is therefore essential for every tradesman. The difficulty lies in getting “the right” PPE kit. The range of PPE as far as we are concerned has become too large. This is why the My-T-Gear collection consists of a limited number of items in each product group. Our experts have reduced the overall range to a manageable size. In each group you will find protection equipment to match the risk to which you will be exposed at work.

Low chemical resistance or waterproof The ‘low chemical resistance’ or ‘waterproof’ pictogram is used for gloves which do not achieve a breakthrough time of at least 30 minutes for at least three chemicals from the defined list, but which do pass the penetration test.

EN 374

Microbiological The ‘microbiological’ pictogram must be used for gloves which achieve at least performance level 2 on the penetration test. * Penetration: gloves must not leak when tested for air- and water-tightness. Category 3: Gloves of complex design These gloves offer the highest degree of protection and are intended to prevent potentially fatal risks or risks which could cause serious and irreversible harm to health and where the designer assumes that the user would not be able to detect the acute effects on time. The manufacturer or importer in Europe must subject this type of glove to an EC type-examination and must also assure the quality of the end product. Both, EC type-examination and quality assurance, must be performed by a notified certifying body.

Breakthrough time: Each chemical substance tested is classified according to its breakthrough time (performance levels 0 to 6).

EN 511

Category 2: Gloves of intermediate design These gloves offer protection against medium hazards. For example, mechanical risks. The manufacturer or importer in Europe must subject this type of glove to an EC type-examination by a notified certifying body.

My-T-Gear the new standard in Personal Safety! A new line that demonstrates high quality and affordability can go firmly hand in hand with an up-todate image and design. A brand for craftsmen who believe in the power of simplicity.

Category 1: Gloves of simple design Gloves which come within category 1 only offer protection against minimal risks. The user needs to be able to easily establish what degree of protection the glove offers. The manufacturer or importer in Europe may issue its own conformity certificate for this type of glove.
