Why respiratory protection? Anyone who is or might be going to work in an environment where the air is polluted, and who wants to stay safe, must first ask themselves whether the space they are entering is suitable for people to occupy and/or work in. Is there enough oxygen? Are the pollutants one could encounter known? And could the activities to be performed also produce contamination. Many of the activities involve working in dust, smoke or mists. In the field of respiratory protection, these are all seen as particles. In this sense viruses and bacteria can also be seen as particles. My-T-Gear dust masks offer adequate protection in many cases. If, in addition to dust, there are dangerous concentrations of gases and/or vapours, then the dust mask is not sufficient and other measures must be taken.
Any form of fine dust is unhealthy but not all particles are equally dangerous. Hardwood and quartz dust, for instance, are very dangerous. A list of the current limit values* can be purchased from Sdu Publishers. For more information please contact you deaker.
European Standard for dust masks The My-T-Gear masks in this brochure all comply with the European Standard NEN-EN 149:2001 with supplement A1:2009. An important property of the dust masks is that they are intended for one-off use and are maintenancefree. The dust masks can be divided into three categories: FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3. The higher the number, the more particles the mask will keep out and the higher the protection factor (NPF). Information about the category of the mask can be found on the mask itself.
Health risks from particles Dust, fibres, particles, etc., can irritate the nose, throat and upper airways. Fine dust particles can penetrate the lungs, where they can damage the lung tissue or even end up in the bloodstream. This can cause many health problems, varying from irritation to serious diseases such as pneumoconiosis or even, in the worst scenario, cancer.
*Limit values are the maximum concentrations of a particular substance in which, based on the present state of knowledge, it is still safe to work. Measures must be taken when concentrations exceed the limit value.
My-T- Gear Carrying out work in industry is synonymous with danger. Every professional operator will endeavour to reduce the risks involved as much as possible. Wearing the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) is therefore essential for every tradesman. The difficulty lies in getting “the right PPE kit. The range of PPE as far as we are concerned has become too large.
This is why the My-T-Gear collection consists of a limited number of items in each product group. Our experts have cut down the overall range to a manageable size. In each group you will find protection equipment to match the risk to which you will be exposed at work.
My-T-Gear the new standard in Personal Safety! A new line that demonstrates high quality and affordability can go firmly hand in hand with an up-todate image and design. A brand for craftsmen who believe in the power of simplicity.

4 To check the fit, place both hands completely over the respirator and inhale vigorously. If air leeks at the edge, readjust the mask, manipulating the nose bridge and headband to effect an acceptable seal. If a proper seal cannot be achieved do not enter the contaminated area.
Dust mask parts Face seal Prevents leaking between the mask and the face.
Nose clip The nose clip allows the mask to be adjusted to fit each individual face. Exhalation valve Ensures rapid discharge of exhaled air, preventing unnecessary build-up of warmth and moisture in the masks. Filter fabric The most important medium for keeping out the dust with the lowest possible breathing resistance.
(Adjustable) straps The straps ensure that the mask remains in place during use. They are elastic and can be adjusted.
Standards On the mask the standard to which the mask was tested (EN149 + year) is placed in combination with the filter class for this mask FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3. Further away the mask indicated the letters R or NR. This indicates whether the mask of Non-Reusable is Reusable.
