From the Editor... Every night when I get into bed it’s like I’m hopping on the dream coaster 5000... It’s a roller coaster ride full of dreams and travelling to different dimensions from the moment I fall asleep to the moment I wake up. In the morning I get out of bed saying to myself ‘phew what a ride’. Often I have been so active in the dream space that getting up and going to work feels like I’m working for 24hours straight! The thing is all my dreams are becoming so vivid, and more and more real, so when I wake up I have to question if I’m awake or if it’s another dream. I’m sure this will be the case for many of you too. As you may know the lines between the 3rd and 4th dimension are blurring and it is becoming harder to tell what’s what, and things happen on the metaphysical before it happens on the physical so it may feel like you have already done something or said something when in fact you dreamt it on the 4th dimension first! So what is a dream and what is reality? Is your dream the one where you go to the gym and brush your teeth? Is your reality actually the one where you get to drive the Porsche and fly around the world? So this raises the question are you truly awake at night while you are dreaming, and asleep during the day while you’re going about your human business? I know many people would suggest that yes that is the case. One thing I do believe is that we are all here on earth to wake up and I agree it is time to do so. By listening to your intuition and dreaming more you can raise your consciousness. And consciousness brings awareness. And awareness creates understanding. And with a critical mass of understanding we have global change.
Kind Regards

Letting Go of Attachment By Helen Barnes
In my healing sessions I often work with people on releasing attachments to outcomes and/or things. Recently, however, I have noticed that more often I am now working with people on releasing their attachment to their stories. Stories that run as programs which stem from the fear consciousness that is engrained in most of us human beings. The stories that appear to be most prevalent at this time are stories of inadequacy, lack of, unwellness, unworthiness and the need for human drama. Our stories create our experiences and so it is time to let go of our stories, so that we can surrender to the highest potential of self as divine spirit incarnate. You see, when we have the same repetitive thoughts over a long period of time, it becomes a belief that we carry about ourselves. This most often stems from a very early age when we may have been told, or had experiences that reflect, that we are ‘not good enough’; that there is a scarcity of money; that we ‘suffer’ from some form of sickness, or as I prefer to call it, unwellness. These beliefs then become our stories and we carry them largely unconsciously and they become so engrained that they become our perceived reality. And then because we are the co-creators of our reality, we project these beliefs into the world and they are reflected back to us in every experience we have. Some people find that affirmations are a good way to change their thoughts and beliefs and while they are, I do suggest that people also look at the number of negative affirmations they are projecting. In just one day it is possible to project as many as 100 plus negative thoughts around any one of our stories. Take the lack of financial security as an example. When listening to people I hear words such as ‘I can’t afford that’; ‘I need to manifest….’; ‘I would love to but I don’t have the money’, etc. And these are the thoughts that they are verbalizing – there will be many more silent thoughts that are running behind the scenes which are all creating their reality. And of course for those who worry about things, there will be many negative
6
thoughts swirling around and around. I recently learnt a great lesson in attachment to another human being. My husband passed into spirit at the end of 2011 and at first I was struck by sadness and grief, but then I let go of my attachment to his presence in my life on the earth plane and I was able to connect with him from the other side. While he and I shared a great ‘emotional love’ in the physical reality, I have discovered that the ‘unconditional and divine love’ that we now have is much greater than the love we shared in the physical realm. This is such a blessing and by releasing my attachment to him on the physical and not experiencing his passing as ‘loss’, I have been able to move forward into our new relationship and be enormously grateful for the time we spent together in the physical, while truly honouring the truth of our divine plan as it continues to unfold way beyond the physical plane. When we attach to outcomes, we often times block the flow and miss the synchronistic events that are presenting as our markers along the way. By attaching to an outcome as the only possibility, the energy gets stuck and no other possibilities are revealed, or if they are, you won’t see them – it is rather like being ‘one eyed’. If you saw the movie What the Bleep Do We Know, you may recall that they talked about the fact that atoms are possibilities and we all know just how many zillions of atoms there are out there, which means there are that many possibilities as well. Energy is dynamic and in a constant state of change and spirit tells us that it is important for the flow of divine order for us to stay open and detached. I have personally found using the Law of Preference rather than attachment to be particularly empowering. That is to say, instead of becoming attached to a possibility, I hold that possibility as a preference while allowing for whatever is in my highest good
<< < > >>
to prevail. This frees up the energy to flow in divine order. When we attach to an outcome we set up the energy of need and expectation and in turn, possible disappointment. All the negative energy that is attached because of the expectation we have created is counter-productive and blocks divine flow. Replacing attachment with preference does not mean that we cannot put our intention and co-creative energy into it. It is good to be passionate and clear
about what we want. It just means that we don’t become single-minded about it which blocks the other possibilities from presenting to us, and allows for divine order to flow. We are, in fact trusting our wisdom to guide us in the direction that serves us best. In this way we can flow through life in a surrendered way, seeing everything as a blessing and creating the magic in our lives.
Helen Barnes is an International Healer, Spiritual Teacher and Author. She is blessed to work with the Ascended Masters, Galactic Federation and other beings of 100% light. She works with the Language of Light as it is the language that is understood at soul level. It penetrates deep within the being re-calibrating molecular structure and bringing all levels of the body back into balance. Her toning sounds are experienced as pure vibration and literally cut through the veil of illusion to reveal divine truth. The focus of Helen’s teaching at this time is preparing people for the new earth. As changes are throwing humanity into chaos, there is a real opportunity for each of us to reclaim the full potential of all that we are as divine spirit incarnate. Helen channels wisdom and loving guidance from the higher realms to help the transition from a state of lower to higher consciousness.

Shamanism and the illusion of reality By David de Warenne
Shamans have always understood that we are connected to everything else and that all is of the oneness, although we do indeed appear separate. We often hear people discussing the concept of reality. What seems to be real for one person is not real for somebody else and the concepts of good and bad, what is enjoyable or not enjoyable, funny, sad, precious or worthless actually differ between each individual that personally experiences them. Spiritual teachers would suggest that everything ‘just is’. From this we must already conclude and thus accept that reality is subjective and relative only to the observer, the one who is having the individual experience. The shaman is the one who mediates between the visible world of form and matter, with that of the invisible world of energy and spirits. There is only one world according to a shamanic perspective and the apparent separation that we seem to perceive and ultimately deem as real and unreal are actually two sides of a whole. Only the natural world exists for the shaman with its visible and invisible dimensions. When I first undertook the shamanic journey - the dynamic mediation of the shaman, and because I am very visual and also clairsentient, I saw and felt many strange and wonderful things. Beautiful worlds, Power Animals, Ascended masters, Spirit helpers, and a whole myriad of strange creatures that presented themselves upon my journeys. “Is this real”? I constantly asked myself, “ or am I losing my mind and in need of some psychiatric assistance”? The right hand brain - our spiritual mind, accesses what we in shamanism refer to as the ‘non ordinary’ reality of life, opposed to our three dimensional ‘ordinary’ reality which is the domain of the logical, analytical left hand brain. Because our Western
8
society values our left brain more than the right, it has become the most dominant mind and tends to override the information that our right brain accesses and speaks to us of. This ‘squashing’ of our experiences by its constant doubting nature and its whisperings to us that “we have made the whole thing up” only serves to strip us of valuable and life enhancing experiences and information. Of course a balanced marriage between the two brains would be our greatest internal asset and many spiritual tools, including certain shamanic skills and training can be used to bring this about. Within shamanism, if you experience it, then it is real! When I finally began to own this understanding the constant doubting and analytical monkey which was my mind that was held within the confines of my left hand brain began to slowly quieten. It is a very interesting fact that modern neural science suggests to us that over four billion bits of information bombard our brain every second of our life....but we only can register one thousand bits...that is a lot of information passing by the rational mind and entering the sub conscious without our conscious awareness of it. So tell me this - what are we not actually seeing, hearing or feeling? The story of the indigenous peoples of the Americas and Columbus’s sailing ships demonstrates this perfectly. In 1492 when Christopher Columbus’s ships anchored off the coast of the Bahamas, the indigenous peoples of the area could not see his ships but saw clouds instead. What they were really seeing was the lofty sails of the ships but because they had never seen Western ships before, they had no memories of such
<< < > >>
objects, and because they had no collective memory of these as well, they simply didn’t see them as they really were, but registered them with the closest thing that their brains associated them with - clouds. The shaman of the village went down to the water’s edge every day and looked out towards the ships and the clouds he saw. Over a short period of time with his awareness he began to see the ships as they really were. He went back to the people and explained to them what he had now witnessed and as a result all of the people began to see the ships. I love this story because it makes a very important point. What is simultaneously sharing our space with us here, right now, that we have no collective memory of, or that which we have collectively forgotten, or in fact choose not to believe in? And because of such we can also not cannot perceive with our senses? Enter the world of Spirits, Fairies and a whole host of other entities and phenomena! And on that note... I recently read that there have been a remarkable increase in the number of UFO sightings of late, and the article suggested that this was proof that we are being visited a lot more. It occurred to me that these phenomena have ALWAYS been here amongst us, but only because we are all only now collectively rising in frequency, we are actually able to perceive much more than we ever could before, including witnessing and experiencing many unexplained happenings. Food for thought? Another interesting view about how to conceive what reality is, and could be, is through the understanding of resonance and vibration. Many subtle realities also lay simultaneously within our own narrow scope of experience. Those certain individuals who are sensitive enough to sense these vibrations and can alter their own frequencies to higher vibrations than the surrounding collective ones, seem to be able to see and feel things that most others simply cannot. Children are born naturals at this and do so until their innocent little right hand brains begin to dim as they enter the world of academia when they reach school age. I remember being smacked over the knuckles by the teacher for ‘day dreaming’ out the window when I was five....fortunately for me my gift of vision was never beaten out of me! Most of us now understand that we all create our individual realities, and we co-create our collective experiences through the laws of vibration and attraction. Thoughts do indeed become things,
and we can utilise this information about universal laws and the processes of manifestation to become deliberate creators of our own experiences. It is said that our chronic thoughts will manifest into our personal reality when accompanied with the feelings of our emotions and the vibrations that accompany them, for better or for worse. Here’s a question for you - how many of you are actually in control of your thoughts and emotions? And can we in fact weld this sacred understanding for our own benefit and for the benefit of the collective? Certain Shamanic cultures hold what they call dream vigils, where they collectively hold the vision of a world that they want to manifest for our children’s children to live in. Maybe these shamans are holding the space for the rest of us and keeping the balance of life upon Mother Earth from totally tipping towards a reality that we all would rather not manifest? They state that human kind is collectively dreaming the wrong dream at this time of our human journey, and that it is us who are unconsciously co creating the craziness and chaos that surrounds us at this time. I cannot help but believe that this is exactly what is happening as we soak up misinformation from the media and are told how to think and what to think about ourselves and our world! A powerful challenge to all of us would be to watch what we choose to think about, and to master our emotions. Unfortunately this requires disciplined focus and it has been said that the average human loses focus every eight seconds! If only we would focus upon that which we DO WANT....and not keep telling the same old rehashed stories about that which we don’t want - and then wonder just why we keep on getting what we have always gotten! Yet another shamanic understanding about reality belongs to the realm of our dreams. Which is the real world and which is the dream? When are we awake...and when are we actually asleep? The sub conscious mind cannot tell the difference between something vividly imagined over what is an actual event. Again I ask...What is real if all information is processed by firing neurons and receptors within our minds? What we think we see with our eyes are merely vibrational frequencies being registered within our visual cortex which are somewhere in the back of our brain.

David de Warenne is a Shamanic Practitioner, Sound Healer, Author and Teacher.....
These questions have long baffled and intrigued those who care to ponder such concepts of just what is real...and what is not.
He is the founding director of ‘The Academy of Quantum Education’, an educational organisation that upholds the intent to unify Science and Spirituality and to embrace the concept of Oneness.
I would like to close this article with the suggestion that we are all co-creators of our own personal realities and that we are indeed the centre of our own unique universe, although we share the immediate space of a collective reality and universe at the same time. A paradox exists amongst it all which suggests that it is all real....but then again it is not! Reality is but an illusion. Again from a shamanic perspective - If you experience it - then it is absolutely REAL! ...or is it?

What is Channelling anyway and who are the Ascended Masters? By Ascension Explorers© 2011
Have you ever read these wonderfully constructed (and sometimes, not so wonderfully constructed) papers or documents about people who channel and spout off ‘great wisdom’ in the name of some energy being or alien from another galaxy? Well you are about to read another one! I would ask you to hang about as I honestly do believe that what I have to share is not only interesting but perhaps may answer a few questions for those of you out there. Sceptical? I don’t blame you, I mean come on speaking in a strange voice and having another energy take you over, sounds like some Catholic or religious Exorcism doesn’t it. Yet I would again beg to differ on this. Let me continue, pull up a chair, grab your drink of preference and continue reading with me. Lets start with the title - “What is Channelling anyway and who are the Ascended Masters?” and break it down. First we have channelling and then we have Ascended Masters, so where to begin? I will start with the Ascended Masters. We hear about Ascended Master this and Ascended Master that, either male or female in description and if they are lucky enough the higher up the ladder they just might be the Higher Self or Bigger Part of one of the ‘lesser ascended masters’ (please note my lack of ‘respect’ is deliberate and I have permission to be so) What makes an Ascended Master an Ascended Master? what gives them the big tick that says ‘yep you passed this test so off you go and you are now an Ascended Master?’ To be honest the only thing that separates them from the rest of us is one thing and one thing only (this is from the energies that I work with whom are Ascended Masters) and that is that they have achieved what we believe is the impossible. They have transcended this mortal world and ascended to the place beyond our realm. The most well known in our present history is the Christ. He literally died, yes
12
he did allow his physical to die to attain the immortality of the physical, then with the ability to travel at the speed of thought and walk through walls etc. he also showed us (or those around at the time) that he was able to move from the physical realm to behind the veil where he is able to assist those who connect to him. Like wise we have St Germaine, Kuthumi, Quan Yin and many others who have lived as humans and passed over by choice by leaving their humanity aside and connecting more fully in their energy or energy body. Now there are some humans alive today that call themselves Guru’s and are considered by others to be living Ascended Masters. Cifehtr who is the Over Soul energy of St Germaine (and therefore Adamus St Germaine) has told me that these people are NOT Ascended Masters, they have just achieved a very high status of unique intuition, knowledge and know how to use it when talking to those who give their power away. An Ascended is one who has ascended from where they are to another place, in other words if a person has overcome the things that hinder them in the humanity, here I am referring to EVERYTHING in our human world: health, wealth, family, love, death, life, poverty, hunger etc. If a human has attained this and cast off their mortal coils (human body) and are able to manifest in a physical form while in the energy status, you would be able to call them an ascended being. To become an Ascended Master takes the compassion to forgo the onward journey to the bridge of flowers and completing the ‘death’ section we all participate in but to allow themselves to be available to teach and assist all humanity. As one who allows themself to do this, they also agree to allow the Universe to continue teaching them and assisting their progression in their journey of learning, thus the title becomes ‘Ascended
<< < > >>
Master’ as they are able to teach the life lessons they had here on earth from a perspective of being the Observer. They allow themselves to continue learning from the side of the Universe and from other ascended who join them bringing their wisdom and truths, after a period of ‘time’ or when the Universe opens them to the place they are able to call themselves a Grand Ascended Master. Though Cifehtr and Kuthumi are telling me it is more the human that calls them this, than they. So in brief then an Ascended Master was once human, who achieved a level of vibration or mastery over their lives in all areas, which allows them to step away from the human world, and enter into the world of Spirit. I must indicate here that there have been some ascended that did not ‘die’ in our understanding but literally walked through the veil from this world into the world of the unseen. When they are there they then choose to assist us here on this plane or realm to overcome the very things that they have overcome. They teach us how to avoid the same things that they may have struggled with; they also bring assistance by showing us how to view things from a new perspective and how to be fluid. They show us that we are not so different in this century as they were when they were alive; we still deal with hunger, wealth issues, healing, sorrow, and many other things. Things that they have overcome and found the balance in, it is this sort of thing that they want to teach us. Therefore the Ascended Master is in essence one who wants to help us gain the knowledge and unique understanding of the Universe by imparting their higher knowledge. They do this by joining their energy with a willing partner who ‘makes room’ for their energy to meld for a short period of time, so that they can bring the message or instruction through. If at any time the human partner indicates that it is not suitable then there is no connection, there should never be a ‘take over bid’ as it is not necessary. The Ascended Masters normally have a ‘human’ feel about their energy, i.e. male or female, this gives them the accessibility to connect to us in a more real manner. I would ask you to truly look at the foundation of teaching that is coming from the Ascended Master that you connect with. Do they talk a lot of BS or gobbly gook or do they speak truth and balance? You need to discern what you are listening to, for in truth when you act on what you’ve heard thinking that there is truth in it and you find it is a joke, you have no one to blame but yourself. Don’t be naïve but be alert and use your intuition, you gut knowing to guide you into the foundation of truth for your teachings. I know that I work with a few Ascended Masters,
Angelic’s and Cosmic Beings and they all resonate differently, yet the same basic foundation of resonation is there, the connection with the Universal Laws of Ascension. If you would like more information on the Ascended Masters contact me on lou@ascensionexplorers.com and talk to me. Now that we understand that Ascended Masters come to help us and to get our sorry rears out of the goo and into the saddle lets talk about Channelling. Too often there are detractors out there saying that if someone is channelling or giving a message from ‘the other side’ they are possessed. Yet the biggest criticism comes form organised religion, which every Sunday hosts the biggest contest for channelled information. They have people who prophecy, they have people who get messages from Spirit for others that are there, how is this different form those on the other side of the fence who call it channelling or being a medium? Now channelling is basically this, you have the human who is sensitive to energy and begins to connect at a conscious level and soon begins to communicate with the ‘guides’ or energies that have been ‘hanging’ around them for an age. You also get the occasions where the energies make direct contact and scare the bejesus out of the person concerned but calm them down and start the ball rolling so to speak. When the connection is made it usually takes about a year of constant contact and communication before the individual is ready to ‘go public’. Why? Basically because it takes that long for the human part of you to get out of the way and allow the true voice of knowledge (which isn’t you) to be spoken and this is normally the energy or Ascended Master or Angelic that has been contacting you. Once this meeting of the ‘hearts’ takes place and you as the human know that you are ‘stepping’ out of the way to allow the communication to come through without interference on your part you are most likely ready to share the knowledge. Channelling is the easiest way for the communications to be brought through at this moment for the teaching of great mysteries and truths, that if we believed were straight from a human source we’d resist the changes and want to cut that person down as an egoistical person, yet when we know and see that it is from a higher source of energy we seem to trust and believe it. Channelling is a union of energy between the human asked to help the Energy Being (Ascended, Cosmic,
<< < > >>
13
Angelic) and the Energy Being. It is normally an agreement of co creation a time of joining of energy to bring about a message of truth that will enable those that hear it to change. I have found over the years of channelling that never have I been asked to do anything that I was not comfortable with, never has anything or anyone ‘possessed me’ and I have always been able to say yes or no to the time of channel. Though I must admit unless I am physically unable to do my part I love channelling and seeing the change in people when I ‘come back’. Never in all the years of being available to the people who come looking for some assistance have I wanted to turn them away, as I know that whatever information comes through will meet them exactly where they are at and they will receive what they need to hear. So if we go back to the title of this article, I think that Channelling is the utterance of wisdom that comes form a source not always of our realm; and the Ascended Masters are a group of energies that know the limitations of our humanness and the things that trigger and hold us back, yet are there to help and offer advise that will create foundations and steps for us to stand on in our journey. Channelling is no more than receiving information and passing it forward from a source that has endless resources that we can tap into. It helps us take an observer view and stand in a way of being unattached to the outcome, because we are the ones receiving the information not giving it. As a channel, I have learnt to step away from the feeling of being responsible for the information that is given. You see I am not the person stating what is being said, yes my voice and my lips are being used and are moving but it is only because I have given permission to the Ascended Masters that work with me to speak through me. In a very broad view can a puppet be responsible for what it is made to speak? In the same way if a channel is totally ‘out of the way’ in as much as they are not interfering with the message, they cannot be blamed for the message. Neither are they responsible for the reaction of those hearing the message. If there is a reaction from one hearing then that individual needs to look at why they are reacting and see how they can come back to balance.

Dance Party for the Soul By Natasha Clarke
Imagine for a moment being completely free in your body and out of your mind. There are no restrictions or self-judgement. Joy and calm are resonating deeply from within. You are fully present and blissed out in the moment, transported to a new world in a different dimension. Through the magical world of 5 Rhythms Dance you can allow that feeling to become a reality. I was unaware of 5 Rhythms Dance until I had a chance encounter at the Prana New Year’s Festival, where I attended a class lead by Geash Bowler. It was a great experience which left me buzzing. My body, which is often tense, felt free and flowing. I knew that I had to experience it again and learn more about this amazing dance practise. The creation of 5 Rhythms Dance came from an American lady named Gabrielle Roth, who developed the dance practise in the 60’s with a Shamanism base of medicine for the soul. Gabrielle has taught over 250 dance teachers, taking the 5 Rhythms dance practise worldwide. The dance is guided throughout and it consists of five stages based on the five rhythms of life. The first stage of the dance is ‘Flowing’, as you gently arrive in your body while connecting and grounding you. Then you move into ‘Staccato’, which has more angular movements, breaking you free from the restrictions of life. Then you come into the almighty ‘Chaos’, letting your crazy out, letting go of attachments and allowing the light energy to flow in. Then Lyrical brings an elevated movement into your light body, helping you become completely free in the moment.
16
Then to finish, you have a gentle flow into stillness, gently coming back to your centre and experiencing awareness of your journey. 5 Rhythms Dance allows you to experience yourself as energy and enjoy the feeling of being in a group as a connected consciousness. It enables you to free yourself from the restrictions of the mind, letting go of your inhibitions as you become fully present in each movement of the dance. No dance experience is required, there are no expectations on you, and you can’t do anything wrong. It is suitable for all fitness levels and all ages and you are free to dance at your own will. Since returning to Auckland I have continued my 5 Rhythms journey, igniting a new passion. My dance becomes an expression of my life and it can be anything I want it to be. Each time I seem to connect deeper into the beauty of my soul and my inner dancer displays motion of movement that I never imagined existed. I dance in bare feet with a smile on my face, my body flowing and moving freely away from the reality I have created around me, allowing a new state of existence to emerge from within me. 5 Rhythms Dance is medicine for the soul and we could all do with a bit of TLC in that department, dance and music is a universal language and it’s great to push ones boundaries. I loved it, and maybe you will too.

Standing in our own power By Darren Wallace
Here are a few of my personal suggestions that may help you: • Live simply and clear any debt and clutter • Face the fear of death it keeps us present and more alive • Keep the body healthy • Remember everything is interconnected
Feeling solid on this earth is every ones birthright. We live in an externally based material world. And how often do we each feel shaky in this fast paced world. The technical advances that we have made have a lot of pluses to them, but also downsides such as disconnection and the loss of simplicity. The seeds of these problems date back approximately 2000 years to ancient Rome and Greece. Some of the worst aspects of our modern world are the misuse of the Media and Advertising industries and also the Education system. The difficulties The advertising and media industries use modern psychology and other methods to manipulate our minds. Our Education system molds and distorts our creative and natural abilities till we lose a sense of ourselves. So much choice in the consumer world has left many of us with confusion, inadequacy, disconnection and unhealthy comparison. Most people don’t realize the damage that is been done to themselves and their children because it’s so constant and some of it’s so subtle. Another side effect of this is the debt that’s been encouraged for 25 years at least. The Education systems turns out programmed slaves its chief role is provide robots to serve the needs of industries, trades and professions. So it crushes spirits and potentials in most individuals, it feeds in to the deepest insecurities of the population. The programme runs so deep that it’s backed up by society and most families. One of the worst aspects of its effects is the suppressing of our creativity. What is the answer to this? Simply being aware of what is happened to us, and being honest about it, is where the repairing of the loss happens. We are not the hapless victims of our circumstances as we are led to believe. All of us need to recognize that we are all unique with our many
18
gifts. Comparing ourselves to others or indulging in envy and jealously is a supreme waste of time. Each one of us is a creative powerful being that is needed on this planet. All these talents and gifts are gathered inside us, we have our own life learning’s some of us have massive growth paths; this is the magic of life. In facing our conditioning and choosing to grow, this moment becomes more alive. What is needed with so much over stimulation of our senses is quiet time preferably each day this could be putting on light positive music, reading inspiring books or doing prayer or religious rituals. With this comes silent power the ability take action on our strengths and talents and expand these quietly, it also encourages the growth of patience. Another aspect that helps in the development of contentment is detachment the ability to both stand back and be calm in the middle of stressful or emotionally charged situations. This doesn’t mean that we don’t care or aren’t interested it simply means our own inner strength comes first. Having a look at our childhoods or teenage years and seeing what we were good at and what gave us joy then may help us in the now. Much of the work we do in the modern age is uninteresting or unsatisfying. See it as an opportunity for acceptance and joy in the moment. We don’t need to be defined by our work. What we do in our spare time outside work can be used to develop and expand ourselves. And reducing or eliminating debt and clutter leaves us freer in our beings. Addictions, imbalances and obsessions are gifts for growth, and our personal growth can be enhanced by facing them. One way I personally enhance this knowing is when I go for a walk, I breathe in a relaxed way feeling my feet connecting with the earth and calming each part of my body. I also do regular stretching exercises - it lets my body know it is part of my ‘spirit, mind, body’ system and that I’m not under valuing or undermining it.
<< < > >>
• Learn to love our bodies as the miracle that they are • Go with the flow (Wear the world like a loose garment.) • Practice observation skills (When you see the techniques that the Advertising companies use they lose their power) • Connect the head and the heart together (It’s the strongest link you can make) • Be decisive – yes or no. No maybes. (This helps you to become a stronger more decisive being and teaches you to listen to yourself and what you want and helps you distinguish between what feels good and what doesn’t) • Self care and love is needed at this time in history (elevating others needs ahead of our own serves no one it actually weakens us) So many sources seek to suppress individuals from standing in their own power. It can sometimes seem like a constant struggle for some of us. There are many colours and sides of life that are available to be explored; we have each been given the precious gift of life. I can remember been unemployed in the 1990’s and been put in this customer service course and it was using modern psychology and testing techniques so after a while I got confused and I was still going with the group process but going slower so I understood what I was doing because I’m dyslexic. The facilator rushed me and was pushing me so I said to him. “I’m not a letter or a number I’m a human being”. There was a great freedom in saying that and I took my power back. This fire with in us is our inner strength beyond what we do or look like.

The Hidden Gifts of Breast Cancer By Shari Rhodes
More than 2500 women are diagnosed with Breast cancer in New Zealand each year. One in nine women will experience breast cancer by the age of sixty-five. It is the most prevalent cancer for women, and though rare, is showing up more in men. (New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation-website) 1 in 11 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 75. Breast cancer has risen over 20% between 1996-2006 in Australia. In 2006, a total of 12,614 women and 102 men were diagnosed with breast cancer and there were 2,643 deaths.” (Breast cancer Australia non-profit trust website). Most of us know at least someone who has experienced Breast Cancer. Early detection, screening and genetic testing are important. Often breast cancer involves a malignancy of the inner lining of the milk ducts or the lobules that supply the ducts with milk. There are many possible precursors to breast cancer including family genetics, an abnormal breast cancer gene BRCA1 or BRCA2 (Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-HER2 = 10% of all breast cancers), hormone dysregulation or estrogen dominance/low progesterone, (possible reactions to birth control bill, IUD or hormone replacement therapy), chemical/environmental toxicity, electromagnetic field disturbances, high estrogen diets or low immune function… However the cause is often unknown. On a psychological level, breast cancer provides a deeper message, for self-awareness and soul growth. Every disease and body response has a voice, a precious gift for learning, if we are willing to listen. It is our choice to face the mirror of self-reflection. I think some medical conditions have an emotional link revealing unresolved issues, wounds and traumas that are stored on a cellular, DNA, molecular and organ level. Stagnancies of blood flow or oxygenation can result from corresponding unconscious

psychological issues and patterns. It reveals the places we cut off and shut down. Regardless of the origin of cancer, we can see this as an opportunity to learn more about ourselves. I have counseled clients with breast cancer for the past thirty years and have noticed similarities in psychological profile. Though I haven’t experienced breast cancer myself, I have lost family and friends to this disease. Breast cancer seems to reflect a “critical imbalance of nurture and self- nourishment.” According to Annette Noontil, author of “The Body is the barometer of the Soul”, breast cancer is about not nurturing ourselves and doing for others first. The symbolism of a women’s breast represents mothering, nurturing and nourishment.” Every woman comes to the issue of self-nourishment in a different way. For example, early triggers may have resulted from a lack of or an excess of attention in a parent/ child relationship or an imbalance in a nurturing relationship with self. Some of these women didn’t have a nurturing or emotionally supportive parent. The mother or father may have been critical or demanding, forcing her to grow up too soon with too much responsibility. Or their mother may have been over protective leaving the child feeling smothered. Many of my clients lost their precious childhood years and didn’t have the permission to be the child themselves. Some were not cuddled or listened too. It wasn’t ok to be vulnerable or trust their parent to be there for them. Many women had to fend for themselves when challenges came up. Other women have been abused sexually, emotionally or physically and have carried trauma in their body. Maybe they had an emotionally
<< < > >>
unavailable partner and didn’t feel safe expressing themselves. They may be carrying past hurts in relationship making it difficult to trust, perhaps a painful break-up or divorce. Some women may have chosen to keep their hurts hidden. Some shut down to protect themselves. It wasn’t safe to trust. For some women, the breast can hold that stifled energy. As a result, it became difficult to be intimate or vulnerable in relationship. Many women chose to shut down, becoming strong and independent. These women felt unsafe opening from the wounded heart. Many women I have seen with breast cancer in counseling find it hard to nurture them or realize it is ok to receive. Some of my gay clients have had issues around not being accepted for being who they are. They had experienced rejection or social ostracism by family or the church for not complying with social conditioning. Some came from close families and as soon as they came out, they were rejected resulting in abandonment, anger and pain. Communication broke down. Some women were no longer welcome in their home. They felt rejected. Many of my clients internalized their hurt holding in the anger and pain. I see my role, as a counselor for these clients is not about externalizing blame, but encouraging these women to examine their history and how they have developed beliefs and behavioral patterns. Some women have learned to give too much away at the expense of self. Over generous with a big heart, they take care of everybody else before themselves. Sometimes they can over parent, get too involved or protective of their children and lose themselves in the process. Or they can feel over responsible at work or in relationship, finding it difficult to ask for what they need. Some women can’t set boundaries or say no, believing it is not ok to receive. These issues can tie into energetic stagnancy in the breast tissue. Breast cancer corresponds to the feminine, intuitive, nurturing and emotional side of a women’s nature. When a woman only expresses from her masculine side involving hyper-vigilance, rational thinking, productivity and self- reliance, she loses balance. By shutting down her need of touch and intimate sharing, she becomes malnourished. She expresses only part of herself, not the whole person. Balancing the polarities of personality such as the head/heart, cognition/intuition, outward expression/ inward reflection, male/female, strength/vulnerability, and selfnurture/care for others is crucial.
While it is important to be kind and compassionate, it is equally important to acknowledge our own needs. Many of my clients dealing with Breast Cancer have difficulty with this. Self-assertiveness about one’s own needs becomes an issue. Some choose not be hurt or abandoned again by people not showing up for them. I help them to understand that we need to trust life to let nourishment in. I think Breast cancer represents blocked emotional energy on a cellular level. It is the stifling of the “core self” that needs expression. When parts of yourself shut down, (creative, emotional or sexual), energy jams up in an organ or blood system, thus compromising the immune function. Rogue cells become active and serve as recruiter cells drawing healthy cells to cluster together, constructing a cancerous mass. These cells gain velocity and the immune system becomes unable to differentiate between the healthy and unhealthy cells. It is like the immune building cells are carrying on their function without noticing interference. Energetically the immune system is connected to the first chakra at the base of the spine. This connects directly to your family or tribe, which is linked to feeling grounded and safe in the world. When we feel insecure in our home, work, finances or relationships, often the immune system becomes compromised and we get digestive disturbances, a cold or flu. However if we have experienced sustained stress or have been giving out for too long, then deeper disease processes can occur. This is not to say we create our illnesses, but rather illness can reflect the unexpressed areas of blockage in the body. Sometimes we get so busy, we forget to listen. It is easier to focus externally, and pay attention to work responsibilities and others, rather than our own needs. It takes courage to face ourselves and look at what’s really going on. But it is important to ask questions such as, • Why is breast cancer happening to me? • What is out of balance in my life? • Who am I and what are my needs? • What happened in my childhood or past? • Was I nourished and supported in my relationships or suppressed or neglected?
<< < > >>
21
• Where have I shut down? • Am I acknowledging my heart and living my dreams? • Am I feeling safe and expressing my vulnerability? • Am I allowing myself to be nurtured or am I just giving it all away? • Am I playing the martyr at the exclusion of my own needs? • Am I allowing myself to receive? • Have I been hurt? • How did I recover and learn to trust again or did I suppress something and keep it in? • Was my grief fully expressed? • Am I being honest with myself? We are all important. We deserve to be here and to authentically express ourselves. Breast Cancer is about nurture and nourishment, the ability to ask for what we need, recognizing our self-worth. We don’t have to hide by controlling our environment and accommodating others. Instead it’s about being honest with ourselves and the people we are close with and speaking our truth. Unexpressed energy equates to stagnancy in the body. And the longer the core self is suppressed, the more severe the blockage becomes. I think we all get wake up calls acknowledging issues that need to be addressed. The longer we wait and deny what is calling for our attention, the more the internalized energy causes congestion and disruption.
22
We each carry our story in our body. Our cells remember. I feel every cell carries the memory of every choice we make. When we are out of alignment with ourselves and not honoring our needs, we lose energy. Our breasts represent nurture. We nourish our babies through breast-feeding. Our breast nourishes our lovers in sex. Some of us adorn our breast through dress, anointing our feminine beauty, power and sexuality. Our breasts are meant to be loved. Our breasts are meant to be celebrated for the beautiful women we are. By ignoring them or downplaying our femininity and nourishment needs, we become less than who we are. Breast Cancer provides the opportunity to slow down and think about our life. With inner reflection, we gain balance and clarity. We have the opportunity to re-evaluate the challenges, become present and look for deeper meaning. We have the choice to listen to ourselves and ask for what we need. It is ok to receive. Life is fragile. It is important to make the most of our experiences giving our selves free reign of expression. We women have a right to honor our needs. Spirituality and good health By Richard Gray This month I am wrapping up on the topic of spirituality and mental health. It would seem our higher-mind is an aspect of our soul and speaks to us through intuition or knowingness. Our heart is the contact centre for the overall soul, and it has been measured as having a far more powerful energy field than the brain; it also has a high level of brain like neurons. In other words, as many are now more aware, our soul and its various aspects such as the higher-mind are a fundamental part of us; we would not ‘be’ without them, but as they reside in another aspect of existence, they are not detectable through our normal physical senses. Hence the reason why many people have only recognised themselves as their physical being and quite strangely, seemed to totally overlook the fact that their emotional bodies and mental bodies are not physical…. some people will still try to argue that they are just a function of the physical, but if ‘proof’ of physical existence is a matter of somehow measuring smell, taste, touch plus seeing and or hearing, then which of these sensors is used to detect thought and emotion? As suggested two columns ago, if we are 3-parts; mind body spirit – the three legged stool, then the closer the balance between these 3 aspects, the more in-balance and whole we are likely to be. Of course, some people do quite well by ‘making fit’ their physical and lower mental selves so that these parts help them perform quite well despite a ‘missing leg’, and yet if they put an equal amount of energy and development into all aspects of themselves, they would be even better functioning. I think we have now answered the question of the importance of spirituality to good mental health. As in the case of 80-85% of people in the mental health system having had an uncomfortable religious upbringing, then by the same token, a person with a balanced and ‘knowing’ religious or spiritual upbringing and current life will very likely have a healthy mental disposition. How best we achieve this state of being? If taking care of our body is looking after our physical health – exercise, healthy food, and nourishing our mind is looking after our mental health, then acknowledging and communing with our soul-higher self is a way
26
of taking care of our spiritual health… just like unfit bodies, if we don’t nourish and grow our spiritual selves we can easily become unbalanced beings and by inference, not fully healthy no matter how fit our body and mind may be. However, we can’t judge others by their outward display of spirituality; there are many people who have an underlying or innate spirituality about them without ever expressing it or ‘practicing’ it by going to church or whatever. It is only something we can do for ourselves, our own way, and be comfortable about that. “Be true to thyself” Shakespeare said. One may elect to go to a ‘spiritual gym’ or read religious books, or one may not. In the end, it is not the outward display but the way one conductions oneself that matters most. Did not some great master say, “What you do for another you also do for me”? My experience is that it is a journey of self-discovery, a journey we take not for our own comfort – to find a haven – but to move from believing in God, to knowing God. When we are in that eternal space we have our heaven no matter where we are. Now I understand that a person and their family being fired on in some village by hostile gunmen will find this hard to accept, and yes, for the physical being and perhaps the lower astral and mental planes of existence, this is so true. But it passes, and if we can remain aware of the bigger picture, it helps enormously. Remember, it appears that as a group of souls we have chosen to experience this very tactile world, with all its’ beauty and ugliness. Ultimately, it’s what we take on with us for future evolution that is our greater purpose – to grow and become more god-like; “You too will do all that I do and more” spoke the same great master. And like all journeys and experiences, no one else can have them for us – not the priest, the Pope, the psychiatrist, nobody. Yes, ultimately, the spiritual self is the invisible self, is the driver, the soul, the life force that jumps in the body-vehicle and makes it come to life. And it holds the main key to our balance and ultimate wellbeing. It’s just that it has a very loose hold of the reigns so that our lower selves have very little awareness of it being there…

Forgiveness by Sheila McBeath
Forgiveness is a thought and an attitude… It is a gift we give ourselves so that we can leave the past in the past, and so that our spiritual and emotional wounds can heal. Like any of our thoughts, attitudes and emotions, forgiveness is a behavioural pattern that becomes stronger with use. We can choose whether to develop a habit of forgiveness or a habit of holding onto resentment. And it’s never too late to change! Even if no one ever taught us how to forgive, or how important it is to forgive, doesn’t mean that we can`t learn and build a new way of life. Forgiveness means not resenting those who have angered us or failed us in some way. We can do this by communicating (whether in person or on paper), our feelings of anger or disappointment to the concerned individual(s). This can validate our emotions, thereby enabling us to release the person and the experience. Although it is often easier to forgive when we understand fully why something has happened, or why someone has done something, understanding is not necessarily required. We can forgive others without their even knowing that they hurt us in some way. Forgiveness is not a bargaining chip, for example, “I’ll forgive you if...” Forgiving others does not mean that we have to allow their abusive or negative behaviour, and it also does not necessarily mean that we can trust them to change their behaviour. Sometimes it is necessary to completely limit contact with them. Doing so does not mean we haven’t forgiven them - it might just mean that we’re finally honouring and respecting ourselves.
28
Sometimes it is necessary to forgive someone who is no longer alive. Just because they died does not mean that God expects or requires us to automatically forgive them or that we don`t need to consciously forgive them. It’s not speaking ill of the dead to acknowledge that they hurt us. Just this one small realisation could change the way funerals are performed. Instead of magically elevating our deceased loved one to sainthood, speaking truth could spare countless souls from the anguish of guilt and remorse. Just as important as forgiving others is the need to forgive ourselves. Since self-hatred is one of the most common spiritual root causes of addictions and negative life patterns, doesn’t it make sense that if we can find some way to forgive ourselves that we’ll finally find peace? We cannot live our lives wishing and hoping that someone is going to forgive us for something we’ve done or not done - it’s up to us to forgive us. Since the universal intelligence sees all human experience as ‘education’, there can be no such thing as ‘sin’, and since there is no such thing as sin, there is no need to be forgiven. The universal intelligence cannot and will not ever judge, criticize or condemn us. Your questions are welcomed – email me at osn@ourspiritualnutrition.com

A touch of well-being By Trilby Johnson
Probably the most important aspect of our well-being is our physical health, because after all, this physical reality is what it’s all about, is it not? It is what we, as a Soul, come to this Earth realm to experience. In the movie, “City of Angels” starring Meg Ryan and Nicolas Cage, the privilege and sensuality of the physical embodiment is exquisitely highlighted and portrayed. It is only on this Earth plane that we get to experience a level of actual physicality and all the sensuality that this entails and evokes. Apparently even angels are in envy of this embodiment. So what’s so special about this physical aspect of well-being and how is it possible to get the most out of it? What if it was the simple ability of touch – to touch and to be touched in a myriad of ways whether physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually and through and with all our senses - that makes the experience of physical embodiment worthwhile? It is this physical embodiment that offers us the experience of living life in all its complexity and splendour. The well-being technique that I am sharing this issue is Massage. I became a Massage Therapist about 4 years ago, because I am a lover of massage and how it made me feel within my body and the impact this had on my body, my self-image and confidence. When I sat down and asked myself what would really bring me joy to do, I was led to learning massage. What this body therapy has taught me, as a client and a practitioner, is the healing power of touch – on all levels and above and beyond the purely physical. Quite simply, our bodies love to be touched. If there is a resistance here, it can stem from inappropriate or abusive experiences, as well as cultural, gender, social, religious and personal influences. All of these factors leave us in judgement of our bodies in general. I personally believe that a lot of our physical ailments today come from a lack of touch, whether physically or emotionally. New born babies instinctively seek this connection with their mother and the world around them. The manner in which this plays out will have life-long implications. Whilst I am a strong advocate for energy work, our
30
bodies are fundamentally our physical vehicle and the anchor that links us to this physical plain. It is through our bodies that we are able to stand back and observe the bigger picture and become aware of what and how we are actually doing. Eckhart Tolle sums this up really succinctly in “The Power of Now”, when he writes about transformation through the body: “The fact is that no one has ever become enlighten through denying or fighting the body or through and out-of-body experience. Although such an experience can be fascinating and can give you a glimpse of the state of liberating from the material form, in the end you will always have to return to the body, where the essential work of transformation takes place. Transformation is through the body, not away from it. This is why no true master has ever advocated fighting or leaving the body, although their mind-based followers often have.”
Many of us can be so estranged from own bodies that it takes time to begin to trust and allow a greater vulnerability to show up. It is like when cleaning out the attic and you first go in. Well the place can be in a mess, dark and dusty and there is a lot of old stuff that needs to be sorted and then cleared. Our bodies work in a similar way. If there is tension or stress held in the body, when it begins to surface, it can be uncomfortable and feel strange. This is why during the day or two following a massage, one can actually feel worse. It is usually just the body cells and muscles and organs dusting themselves off. Once this is done though, one generally feels lighter, looser, more energised and refreshed. Of course, the practitioner you work with plays a very important role. Shop around and try several, until you find one that you really connect and resonate with. There is nothing worse than receiving a massage from someone who is bored, in pain themselves or hates their job. Why? Because you will feel this energy and although you may not be able to put your finger on it, you will probably be touched by it, which may result in you not experiencing an enjoyable massage. You can also ask your body to show you who it would like to work with and be open to who and what shows up. Ask and you shall receive! The health benefits of massage reach way beyond the physical body, to include the mental, emotional and spiritual. Let’s face it, when the body is experiencing pain, everything in life can be more of a challenge.
However, you don’t have to wait until the body is in pain to have a massage. Many people consider a massage a luxury and something to do once in a while. Many men consider it something only that a woman does, or if they do have one, it has to be deep tissue or sports massage. And yes there are many people who have never ever had a massage. To each their own, but what if regular massage is a great way of maintaining a healthy body and a way of nurturing self-love? What if prevention truly is the best cure? My experience of massage has been a journey of self-exploration and discovery, awakening, expansion and awareness. My gratitude and awe for the body continues to grow, as each day I realise more and more that everything we may be seeking truly is, under our nose. We truly are wired for success on a deep cellular level. If our body is the gateway to our Soul, then I think of massage as being just one of many keys, to open the way to the healing power of touch. What are the infinite and expansive possibilities of massage for you and your body’s well-being?
Article written by Trilby Johnson - ©2012 Owner and Well-Being Facilitator at BE YU Well-Being Website: www.beyuwellbeing.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/beyuwellbeing
Our bodies are miraculous creations which are busy day and night to provide us with this experience of living. Our bodies require care and nurturing and nourishing and stimulating and honouring and acknowledging. All of these qualities are available for experience with and through massage. There are many schools of massage, some classed as acceptable and some not. I love trying different techniques and getting to experience what suits my body. Sometimes a good session of deep tissue is required and other times relaxation or the alternative of stretching and pressure. When we offer our bodies a massage, I like to think that we are showering it with gratitude for its continuous and unconditional functioning and servitude. It is also a way of connecting and reconnecting with ourselves. Now whilst this may not happen immediately – it took me about two years of monthly massage to truly begin to feel comfortable – it is worth continuing.

Healing & Communicating with Animals By Nancy Cate
ThetaHealing™ Master and Certificate of Science
Some of the easiest beings that I’m asked to heal on the planet are the animals we call pets. They respond with such speed, total trust and delight that I love working with them. I also know through caring for pets that whatever love and attention we lavish upon them they return unconditionally and ten-fold. One of the most important things to remember when we’re healing animals is to ask their higher self for permission to do any work, just the way we’d ask a person. Their carer may have said go ahead, but that’s only the first step. Animals, especially horses are sensitive and decidedly opinionated about who gets to wander into their space. Each animal has its own higher self and that aspect is where you start. As a ThetaHealer® I address the higher self and if I get a feeling of being welcome I can by all means proceed; but if the door to their energy space is closed I need to respect that and realise I won’t be doing any healing on them at this particular time. Animals communicate using a completely different language based on feelings and images, rather than human words. Toffee, one of my small furry clients was a cat that’d been attacked by dogs. He was recuperating with a cone around his neck in an animal pen so he couldn’t walk or put any weight on his recovering leg. Toffee’s tail hung down because it had been damaged during the altercation and he was ultra depressed to be deprived of his regular freedom and cuddles. After I sent him love and healing plus mental images of a happy, healthy cat his mood improved, his tail stood back up and he was on his way to recovery.
that reason I don’t allow family pets in to visit during my clients healing sessions. Also sometimes as ThetaHealers® we work on a condition or issue with the owner and then separately with the animal. I was recently asked to help with a gorgeous Blue Heeler dog named Samantha. She’d been poorly for several weeks, losing weight and suffering from such bad diarrhoea she couldn’t be given painkillers to help with her limping back leg, she was also chronically depressed. I sent Samantha a distant healing and at almost exactly the same time she started to jump and run about, full of energy and with her leg restored to full bouncability! Her grateful owner sent me a wonderful testimonial on Samantha’s behalf writing that “…since then I feel well, happy and have all my energy. I hope other pets can meet Nancy and be blessed by her healing”. If you see a very happy Blue Heeler around Huntly give her a pat from me. Nancy Cate is a ThetaHealing™ Master & Certificate of Science; and also the ThetaHealing™ Representative for NZ. She’s available for personal healings and speaking engagements; teaching the full curriculum of ThetaHealing™ classes at Knowledge Tree School of ThetaHealing™, Browns Bay, Auckland, tel: 09 479 5706, nancy@knowledgetree. co.nz, or visit www.knowledgetree.co.nz
In some cases animals can also absorb sicknesses from their owners; or accumulate negative energy from their owner’s space in an attempt to help heal a situation. This is a very generous act on the animal’s part, but not good for their wellbeing as they don’t usually know how to release these energies. It’s for

Life is Awkward By Dave, @TheQuotingNerd (16 years old) It’s a tough world for a teen nowadays. Especially for a teen like me who doesn’t seem to fit in with ANYBODY. I know many people can relate to the feeling of ‘not fitting in’, or ‘not being accepted’. It’s really frustrating. I have felt ‘different’ all my life. I don’t seem to be ‘normal’. And I don’t try to be. There is a quote stating, ‘Why fit in when you were born to stand out?’ This quote is way easier said than done, but it’s 100% true.
Every day, each time I look into the mirror, I’m reminded that I’m not the same as everybody else. Sometimes I think of it as a blessing, but other times, I think it’s the worst thing in the world.
I think it’s important for young teens to know that it’s OK to be different. You don’t have to be the same as everybody else. Take me for example. All the guy friends I have are all into sports and rap music and getting girls. Me? I play piano, listen to R&B and pop, and I’ve never had a girlfriend. And basketball, well I’m pretty sure I’m the worst player in the world! And do I feel intimidated by all this? YES!!!!!
This teen life is a tough road to navigate, especially if you’re constantly surrounded with pressures on how you should act…or how you should look like…..or how you should talk, or sing, or whatever. I see so many girls on Tumblr (A blogging platform) who cut because they feel like society pressures them to be thin or look like this supermodel, or look like that supermodel. And I know there are other guys out there who get called ‘fag’ or ‘homo’ just because they don’t ‘act like every other macho guy in the school’ or just because they’ve never had a girl or even desire to have one. I guess the point I’m trying to make is accept who you are.
Because I’m into Demi Lovato and not lil’ Wayne (A well-known rap artist), I’ve been called gay. This one guy asks, “Why you listening to girls music? That’s gay!!” And each day, it seems like my level of self-confidence gets lower and lower, because comments like that remains in my mind.
You are going to feel alone at times, and that’s OK. Know that there are others out there who share the same feelings and problems. There’s nothing wrong with not fitting in. Stand out. I’ll end with this quote I read online that reflects what I’m saying.
“They laugh at me ‘because I’m different, but I laugh because they’re all the same.” << < > >>

Roast Pumpkin and Kumara Salad by Karen Wills
A traditional Zen Story – Is That So?
“There was a Zen Master who was very pure, very illumined. Near the place where he lived there happened to be a food store. The owner of the food store had a beautiful unmarried daughter. One day she was found with child. Her parents flew into a rage. They wanted to know the father, but she would not give them the name. After repeated scolding and harassment, she gave up and told them it was the Zen Master. The parents believed her. When the child was born they ran to the Zen Master, scolding him with foul tongue, and they left the infant with him. The Zen Master (1) said, “Is that so.” This was his only comment. He accepted the child. He started nourishing and taking care of the child. By this time his reputation had come to an end, and he was an object of mockery. Days ran into weeks, weeks into months and months into years. But there is something called conscience in our human life, and the young girl was tortured by her conscience. One day she finally disclosed to her parents the name of the child’s real father, a man who worked in a fish market. The parents again flew into a rage. At the same time, sorrow and humiliation tortured the household. They came running to the spiritual Master, begged his pardon, narrated the whole story and then took the child back.”
With plenty of pumpkins and kumara (sweet potato) on hand this time of year, try this for something a bit different. This will feed 5- 6 people. You will need: 2 kumara 4 - 6 pieces of pumpkin Salt (optional) Walnuts, pine nuts, sunflower seeds 2 tablespoons of sliced black olives (optional) Half a block of feta cheese Fresh herbs of your choice (Coriander, basil, parsley) Spinach leaves (Baby leaves are best) Dressing: 2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar 6 tablespoons of olive oil 1 decent teaspoon of honey
Roast kumara and pumpkin with a little oil and salt until soft. Let it cool, and then cut into little pieces. Slice olives. Cut feta into quite small pieces. Break walnuts into quarters. Cut fresh herbs finely - enough to fill ½ cup when cut. Heat balsamic vinegar and oil just enough to melt the honey. When cool add your small pieces of roast kumara and pumpkin. Mix gently. Layer spinach on a flat serving dish Place the roast kumara and pumpkin all over the spinach. Then randomly place all the other ingredients. Finally, tip any remaining dressing over your salad. You are now ready to eat. This is a fantastic salad you can experiment with by adding other ingredients that you may like and leaving out some ingredients you find you don’t have in your pantry at the time of making. It always tastes great.
His only comment: “Is that so.” Version of Story by Sri Chinmoy from: Is That So?

At home Composting
Natural Peppermint Drops
At-home composting is a growing trend we're pleased to see catching on, but if you're a city dweller with limited space -- or are adverse to curious odours and creepy crawlers -traditional composters probably aren't ideal. But don't give up on the quest to turn your scraps into nutrient rich soil! There are several indoor alternatives out there, like NatureMill's Metro automatic composter. This powered unit uses a minimal amount of electricity to heat and churn food, turning leftovers into compost in just a few weeks.
Peppermint is popular in countless forms, from toothpaste to chewing gum. As an essential oil, it is useful to ease breathing and as a digestive aid.

Mountain Band-Aid is a plan for a sustainable city designed to help mitigate mining damage in southern China while providing a place for local inhabitants to repopulate the countryside. From a distance, the vertical village looks like a graft of humanity onto the countryside – it reclaims the industrial scars created by past generations so that future generations can return to a lifestyle integrated with their surroundings. The project was recently awarded second place in eVolo’s 2012 Skyscraper Competition. Read more

'Healing with the Angels Through Art Workshop'
Saturday 28th April, 10am-2pm, Active Arts, Taupo 'Healing with the Angels through Art' is a 4 hour self healing workshop using Angel therapy meditation and painting as a healing medium. I have combined Angel therapy with Art therapy, creating a creative and fun way to heal our own inner baggage without having to relive painful memories. All while relaxed and creating something beautiful. Angel therapy is a powerful and effective healing and guidance process that involves working with your guardian angels, Archangels and various visualisation techniques. Angel therapy helps you to release fears, emotional & physical blocks & baggages. It also gives you guidance about your life purpose, relationships, health, manifestations and so on. Art therapy as a healing device works wonders for healing the soul and opens us up to higher creativity and self expression. As you create, you are releasing your inner 'toxins' and emotions. The patterns and colours you create, are the tools that heal you. The energy from the painting will remain healing you long after painting is complete. Colour is the universal language that bi passes the logical mind and speaks directly to the soul. And it is here that deep healing takes place. Different colours give off different healing vibrations. For every negative emotion, there is a colour that eases it. For every positive emotion, there is a colour that enhances it. During the workshop. you will experience the relaxing and healing benefits of angel therapy through a guided meditation & then continue to release and heal by creating your own layered energy painting on canvas. The Angels will be here with us all day, continuing to unblock, heal and comfort you. You will also receive an 'Angel intuitive photographic image' created by your Angels and myself. This image is created by combining a photo taken of you on the day, the energy of your painting and the various Archangels present with you during the workshop. This image will be posted out to you after the workshop. 'Healing with the Angels through Art' workshop costs $120. This includes all Art supplies, bottled water and morning tea. You will need to bring own packed lunch, either an apron or old painting clothes and an open mind & heart. Bookings essential. Please email Miranda@fotogenx.co.nz or phone 021 132 3510 to book.

Pauline Baker We will embrace the understanding that you are an energetic being with infinite potential; and that your energy is your most precious resource. We will experience our own unique energy in a simple fun way and practice a tool that will enable you to very quickly achieve a state of coherence stability and balance. This simple process will also give you access to the wisdom you carry within you. Wayne Morgan Wayne will be talking about how we can better understand our youth. Wayne has been studying the differences between Indigo, Crystal, Rainbow and Blue star Children. He says that if we can understand our child within we will then understand who we are. Lou James ‘Who are you?’ or rather ‘Who am I?’. This question has been travelling around your world for many thousands of years and you find it just as perplexing today as before. Yet it is not so difficult to understand. I will explore the space around the question and perhaps delve into the reasons we ask such questions. Then I will hope to bring to your knowing ways of understanding for yourself so that you can answer the question and know who you are. Aaron Wigg Whenever we ask ourselves this question, there is no answer. Who we are cannot be defined or limited to any answer given because who you are is beyond form. We are the open space which the thoughts and concepts of who we are and how we experience life appear within. It surely is fun to play with thoughts and concepts though, for the experience. How fun! Sheree Carbery Who are you? Are you really you? Sheree will be speaking on who you truly are at your core behind the conditioning, beyond the patterns and behaviours and the facades that we can sometimes present to the world. Sheree will take you into a direct experience of who you really are and show you that who you think you are may not necessarily be the truth!!
