The Moffitts Towne Lake Family of Seven Are Living Life to the Fullest

Editor’s Note: What fun it is to meet interesting individuals and families through PinPointe Magazine! Sharell Marlitz shared about a family that others would like to know. Thank you for introducing us to your Towne Lake neighbors, Rusty and Michal Moffitt.

Rusty and Michal actually met in Cypress, Texas. They tied the knot on November 11, 2018. In celebration of 15 years of marriage, the couple recently renewed their vows in Costa Rica, surrounded by their children.

With all of the communities in Cypress, what drew the family to Towne Lake? The beautiful neighborhoods, recreational opportunities, the proximity to upscale dining and shopping? Could it be “the 300-acre lake, the largest private recreational lake in the Greater Houston area?”

“The Lake! We love the water whether it's the lake, river, bay or ocean,” exclaims Michal!

The Moffitt house is filled with the love, laughter and activity of five children.

The oldest is Ryleigh. She is a 15-year-old sophomore attending Cypress Ranch High School. Twins Rhemy and Ryder are 12; they are 7th graders at Anthony Middle School. Rusty Michael, 10, attends Rennell Elementary School where he is in the 4th grade. The youngest is 5year-old Reed, a kindergarten student at Rennell.

What are some of the best memories you’ve had as a family?

“We love to travel to our favorite vacation spotsMatagorda, Texas; Telluride, Colorado; Seaside, Florida,” shares Michal. “We spend as much time as we can at our bay house in Matagorda where we love to fish, jet ski, tube in the river, and have friends and family visit. The kids spend as much time as possible with their cousins over the summer and during school breaks.”

“Some memories are unforgettable, remaining ever vivid and heartwarming.”

-Joseph B. Wirthlin

What does a typical week look like at the Moffitt house? With five children, how do you handle their varying schedules?

“It is very busy! Rusty owns and runs two companies in Cypress: Moffitt Services and Moffitt Caswell Southern Trucking. Now that Reed is in kindergarten, I have returned to a full-time position at Moffitt Services by Rusty’s side. Ryleigh and Rhemy are both part of competitive cheerleading at Prodigy Allstars. They are level 6 athletes which is a huge commitment in the cheer world. Really, any level in competition cheer is a huge commitment! We carpool to the gym from SundayThursday each week. Ryder and Rhemy just made the 7th grade volleyball team at Anthony this year. Rusty Michael loves video games and card collecting. He loves interacting virtually with his friends from all over and is always educating us on the latest shifts in the card collecting market. Reed will be playing baseball through the Cy Fair Sports Association; he can’t wait for it to begin. Reed will also be following in his big sister Rhemy’s footsteps in piano lessons this year. He loves music! The girls and I are also members of the National Charity League Cypress Pearls Chapter. We attend church at Second Baptist. We are lucky to have all of the kids’ grandparents nearby. Everyone chips in to help and we know how big of a blessing it is to have each other and be so close,” reflects mom.

What is the biggest challenge of parenthood? What do you do to assure that each of your children receives your attention?

“I would say time. While we love for our kids to try new sports and hobbies, I always tell them that if it is not bringing them Joy, then it’s a no,” asserts Michal. “I would much rather them have more time at home than doing anything that they don’t absolutely love! We have had

to learn how to prioritize all of the ‘extras’ so that it doesn’t take away from time together. Our time together is precious but it is fleeting so things like car rides and dinners are spaces for us to be intentional in our conversations. We also set boundaries for work conversations at home. We give our kids a window where we promise not to discuss work. Unless a customer calls, we shut it off for a few hours each night.”

If and when you all ever have “free time,” how do you and Rusty relax? Favorite family outings?

“Any chance we get, we love to go boating and fishing. Offshore fishing is our favorite! We love to hop on our boat in Towne Lake, too,” Michal comments. “To be honest, there is no place like home! While we love to go, go, go I think our absolute favorite thing to do is chill at home! Preferably on the couch with ice cream,” smiles Michal.

A testament to their close family relationship is Michal’s response to this question; Is there something that your friends and neighbors would be surprised to know about you?

“Our goal is to one day live on land and hope our kids will join when they have families of their own. Family compound style!”

The Best of Cy-Fair

Senate Avenue Brewing Company PLACES T O EAT

he Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce held the August networking breakfast in a most unlikely place: Senate Avenue Brewing Company. Andrew Mitcham, owner of Senate Avenue, hosted the event, which also served as a ribbon cutting, “Just 4 years later but… oh well,” joked Mitcham. (His story is intriguing; In the wake of 911, he left UT to join the Army and became a combat medic, earned his EMT Certification and taught Combat Lifesaver courses across the country. He did a stint in the Corporate IT world before starting his own IT company with his brother-in-law. Moving back to Jersey Village, he married and served as the Mayor of JV. While his ultimate goal was to attract a brewery to his city, ironically, he now owns one!)

Getting back to Senate Brewing Company; they are billed as a nanobrewery and taphouse, and sell wine by the glass and bottle. The full-service kitchen offers unique fare such as fried artichoke hearts and crab cakes, bison and black bean burgers, street tacos, (Our breakfast tacos and biscuits were delicious), and blackened redfish. SABC is family friendly; even dogs are welcome on the patio.

The Daly Round Indoor Golf and Lounge

Afriend’s networking event found me at The Daly Round Indoor Golf and Lounge midweek, just as folks were leaving work. A first-time visitor, I asked others about the establishment; a fun place to relax, watch the game, practice your swing, and meet friends, so they said. A friendly bartender called out a greeting while deftly offering a selection of spirits, craft beers, and cocktails to clients seated around the bar and around the room. My Cuba Libre was on point. Comfortable seating for conversation and tables for those perusing menus and others that checked out the Astros on multiple screens filled the room. Truffle Pretzel Bites and Cajun Crunch Egg Rolls; Handhelds of short rib and brisket blended beef with Bourbon bacon jam and shoestring potatoes tempted the

tastebuds. Talk is, the oven fired flatbread pizzas are favorites among the golfers. The indoor golf simulators located in bays in the next room were filled with golfers and others that aspired to be. Bring your own clubs, or rent some. It’s 21 and over after 9 pm. Oh, and Bottomless Mimosas are offered for $12 a person every Saturday and Sunday. I’d say The Daly Round measures up to the hype.
