DIRECTIONS FOR PAGES 4-21: 1. Choose any of the DPS templates saved in your assigned folder. Once you choose a template, copy and paste it onto the appropriate page. You might use “Template A” on pages 4-5 and “Template B” on pages 6-9. Use whichever template showcases your photos best. You do NOT need to use the same templates for each DPS. 2. Make sure to Ungroup your template before you start plugging in your new information. 3. Make sure your pages and folios match your table of contents from page 3: Pages 4-5: Framing Pages 6-9: Shutter speed, aperture, ISO Pages 10-11: Portraiture Pages 12-13: Lines Pages 14-15: Light Pages 16-17: Perspective Pages 18-21: Free form *You can make small tweaks to the template, but be sure to keep the look consistent, and be sure to talk to me about this. * If you choose, you may add extra pages to your portfolio to include extra credit photographs. To do this, go to LAYOUT - PAGES - ADD PAGE. If you do this, be sure to add in 2-page increments.

Framing (LEFT) Mckenna Harris ‘16 lounges against the wall of West High School’s elevator shaft. After a long day of classes it’s a perfect place to take a quick breath and regain sanity. (RIGHT) Michael Moonjelly’s ‘17 version of a elevator shaft, a stairwell door frame. A nice place to kick back and look through to West’s beautiful courtyard. FEBRUARY 2014 2
shutter speed (ABOVE) Mckenna Harris ‘16 twirls charmingly, with a very high shutter speed I was able to catch her mid-turn. The brick wall is a beautiful and mesmerizing point in the picture. (RIGHT) Using a very low shutter speed a caught a ghost walking. Named Mckenna, that’s actually alive and not a ghost.

iso (ABOVE) With the Iso very high, the mural “art” has little to no noise in the photo. A new twist on an old art. (RIGHT) With a very low ISO the noise is very heavy in this picture, almost creating a very evil sunflower.

aperture (ABOVE) The snow takes a personality with a very high aperature, letting in buckets of light shows the snow’s true beauty and brightness. (RIGHT) A very low aperture makes a spiral stair case extremly dark and murder scene worthy.

Portraiture (BELOW) Relaxing on the staircase mid-day, Mckenna taking in the wondrous sites of the floor. A wonderful experience that all should have. (RIGHT) After an argument, an angry teenager attending West High School stares down her prey, some young freshmen. The brick wall adds a spicy pattern to the photograph.

Lines (LEFT) A vintage brick wall leads the eye to a mysterious figure lurking near the wall by West High’s cafeteria. (ABOVE) A new outlook on a floor mat, not only will it clean the bottom of your shoes, but it will provide an interesting piece of artwork for the eye.

Light (BELOW) Simplicity. Kevan Patel’s hand below a bright light give his hand a carved shadow that shows how simple lighting really can be. (RIGHT) The mid-day sun beams on the back of a student creating a beautiful shower in a stairwell of West High. Miraculous.

perspective (LEFT) West High’s Courtyard provides some beautiful natural scenery. Staring upward into an old pine tree gives the perspective that a squirrel might experience. (ABOVE) In West High’s front yard a trio of pinecones huddle together in the bitter Iowa cold. The picture from above is the same perspective someone looking down would experience. FEBRUARY 2014 16
Free Form (ABOVE) Vases reflect the suns natural light in fun shapes, a fun take on something so simple. (RIGHT) In an oasis of sticks and snow, a pinecone makes a statement becoming the subject of the photo. 17 FEBRUARY 2014
