Lululemon LuluReview Lemon Madison Floss
Review
Lululemon is finally in Iowa City! But how good is it? Are their clothes as good as everyone thinks? Iowa usually gets the not so popular stores and the smaller versions of the good ones. Is this another let down or is this finally what we need? Lululemon? Are you sure? Yes, the rumors are true! There is a new Lululemon Downtown Iowa City and it is not a pop up. Finally a store that we have all been waiting for. But does it live up to it’s name? The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the size. It was a lot smaller than expected and the dressing rooms took up most of the space. It was a busy Saturday, and there was barely enough room to walk because of all the people that were there. I guess that was a good sign because it was saying how many people were waiting for a Lululemon and that if there are this many people it will stay in business. Because of the small size, there is not as many choices clothing wise as other Lululemon stores. Many times I found something I liked but not in the color. So ordering is now your new best friend when it comes to shopping at Lululemon. Except who wants to wait for their clothes to come in the mail. Because there is not as big as a selection as most of the Lululemon stores, and Iowa is a small city, it is very likely that the clothes you get from there someone else in your community will have it too. Despite it’s size, there is a men’s section. I found 06 OPINION MAY 2016 INTO.WSSPAPER.COM
this refreshing because even though the store is small they found a little corner for the men’s clothing to be in because Lululemon is not just for women. The appearance of the store is very trendy and modern. One of the walls is all windows and you can see what is inside the store from the street. The dressing rooms are a decent size and they have full body mirrors. The only thing I found that I did not like was how there was little lighting in the store kinda like it relied on the sun to come through the windows. Because of the poor lighting the dressing rooms were very dark and it was hard to see what you looked like in the clothing. The layout was interesting. The leggings were in a corner along with the sports bras. But, the shorts and tops were very scattered throughout the store and it was hard to find sizes and colors that were alike in one place. All the clothes are very bright and makes the store look alive in color. There were only a few things that disappointed me. The size was the biggest let down because there is not as many choices in colors and styles. Another was the lighting because it was hard to see what you looked like wearing the clothes. Also you could not really see what it would look like out of the store where there is more light. And the last was that the clothing was scattered and was hard to find the color or size you wanted. But one Lululemon is better than no Lululemon. Right?
Res Safety By Madison Floss
If you do not go on vacation during the summer one of the most popular places to go to is the res, The res is the closest thing we have to a beach. But, many people do not think about how to be safe on the res. It often slips our mind, until something happens‌
Res Safety
There are many ways to have fun and be safe on the res. What you can do is really easy. The most important is wearing your lifejacket. Wearing your lifejacket while your tubing is the most important time. If you fall off while tubing you can hit your head. Even though it would be in the middle of the reservoir, one can never predict what will happen. There could be a log or the water could be shallow. If does not hurt to be prepared. “When I go on my friend’s boat, usually they do not have enough life jackets, so we have to switch off.” Said Addie Schroeder ‘19. While on the res there are usually a lot of people drinking. So it is not always the best idea to swim in the middle of the res, even if it is not a busy area. Drunk people are often very distracted by friends and can not see as far or as well. This is especially important in the dark. If you do go swimming make sure it is away from boats and you have a lifejacket on. Having a lot of people on a boat is not a good idea either. With lots of people on the boat the driver is distracted with the action inside the boat rather than outside the boat. Especially if there are little kids getting into things. “It is hard to keep my safety in control when it is not my boat.” Said Schroeder ‘19. “It can get scary sometimes,” said Lizzie Raley ‘19.
Below is a Picture of a playground at the res. To the right is an overview of the res and the beach.
“I see people drinking on the res all the time, and it is even worse on the beach.” Drinking is one of the biggest issues. While drunk you have no idea what you are doing and if all the people on the boat are drinking you could cause a major problem. There are laws that you should not drink and drive a boat but you see people with drinks in their hands all the time. “It is very rare to see a boat driver without a drink in their hand,” said Schroder ‘19, “and it really worries me when there are kids on the boat.” While on the res you can not help what other people do, but you can help yourself by being as safe as possible. Wear your lifejacket, swim in a cove or on a beach and not in the middle or the reservoir, do not swim at night, and just be safe with your decisions. It is possible to be safe and to have fun at the same time!

Summer Fashion By: Josie Anderson Claire Overton ‘19 buys clothes from all over. Check out her summer fashion
Summer fashion is something many flaunt over. Many want to know what everyone else is wearing, and what looks good. People don’t want to worry about “what shorts go with that top,” and then walk out the door and realize the outfit you chose didn’t look right together at all. Claire Overton ‘19 has the best outfits you could think of. See how she styles her clothes and how she puts her outfits together. Overton buys most her clothes at once so that she always has something to go with something else. “I like when things go together and look well together, like most people do too.” Said Overton. As you can tell she’s a perfectionist. “I sort my outfits every night before school, most mornings I don’t end up wearing the outfit I picked out anyways. I think I’m more sane in the mornings.” Said Overton as she laughed. Overton has a walk in closet organized by color, material, and title. “I remember getting ready with Claire before our first junior high dance, after I tried on what I brought over it didn’t look as good as I thought it would, Claire told me if things look right on the hanger it doesn’t mean they look the same on you.” Said Grace Fleckenstein ‘19. Everyone has a store they want to look at first when they walk into a shopping center, it’s the store they get most their stuff from. “I buy most my clothes from Charlotte Russe, but my favorite places to buy clothes are in Chicago.” Said Overton. Overton added that she visits Chicago
twice a year with her family. “I like going on trips with my family out of the country because then I get clothes that most likely nobody else has.” Said Overton The fact she goes places people rarely go helps her get unique clothes. “I think she likes to make sure she never wears the same thing as someone else, but what would I know.” Said Overton’s mom. She never wears the same outfit twice. “I tell myself I can wear a shirt or a pair of

pants as many times as I want, but I can only wear them together once.” Said Overton, she added that she goes to the mall once a month to buy more clothes in case she runs out of outfits. During school most people want to have their dress down days, the days you wear shorts and T-shirts etc. and dress up days, the days you wear dresses, skirts, etc. Overton had her first dress down day last year (2015). “I don’t think I’ve ever seen her wear sweatpants, joggers maybe.” Said Ellie Kouba ‘19, a close friend to Overton. She enjoys going to dinners with friends and other events to wear formal clothes. She also enjoys making clothes and using clothes for different things as well, like cutting shirts into scarfs when they don’t fit. Of many people Overton is said to wear the best clothes by many of her peers. This summer try going out of town and going to a place with items you’ve never seen before. If you want something no one else has try making something you can wear. Be creative with your summer. Aguadillo, Puerto Rico

So you have the SUMMER MUNCHIES By: Josie Anderson
The summer to bring smiles and the perfect summer food to join the smile on your face. What type of food has you hooked on summer? Is it ice cream that melts in your mouth and sends cold chills through your heated body? Is it the smell of burgers being cooked outside on the grill? No matter what the food or the scent, it still brings the summer vibe. Still make sure you chose the right foods too, you know, the ones that keep you healthy for the next football season. Ice cream, a treat loved by most everyone can be found and eaten anywhere during summer. “It’s by far my favorite summer food, or even in general,” said Addie Schroeder ‘19, it reminds her of carnivals and Friday fun nights in downtown

Iowa City, “It’s one of the only treats that taste good in every normal flavor.” Whether inside or outside you can always have ice cream in the summer. “Ice cream reminds me of the ice cream truck and watching TV shows where the kids ice cream falls on the ground.” Said Nick Brand ‘19. Iowa has more than one ice cream store in every city, so no matter where you are you can always enjoy ice cream. With summer comes carnivals; carnivals come with carnival food. All sorts of foods can be found at carnivals, the most popular, other than sweets and treats, is food on a stick. Chocolate strawberries, pork, corn dogs, cotton candy and caramel apples. You name it and it could most likely be put on a stick. “My favorite is pork on a stick, but the only time I get it is during the Blues and BBQ festival.” Said Brittan Gregoir ‘18 she added that the festival is held in North Liberty once a year during the summer. Like carnivals, amusement parks also have fun foods that always remind you of summer. “I love funnel cakes, Adventureland has the best funnel cakes.” Said Kennedy Hochstedler ‘19. Have some fun at a summer event, good thing most popular events places will have something new for you to try. You can eat most fruits in winter but you can eat all fruits in the summer. Watermelons, strawberries, peaches, cherries, etc. are always best when they’re grown in the right season.
https://static-secure.guim.co.uk
“Watermelons are juicier in summer and there so much larger.” Said Ainsley Kellogg ‘19. Not only does fruit taste better but it’s also more natural, meaning less preservatives. “I eat organic food and when we go to the co-op in winter, they don’t have many fruits because they can’t grow them naturally.” Said Addie Schroeder ‘19, the Coralville Pioneer Co-op is located in the Coralville strip, “I’ve eaten fruits grown with preservatives and when it’s grown naturally it taste so much better.” Fruit can be bought anywhere so sit down, relax, and enjoy some fruit. Foods only food, but the right food brings positive emotions, and when better to be positive than in summer. Try going to a big place or a big event and try something new. It’s not hard to learn how to make something, maybe try a fun recipes. This summer eat the food that brings a smile to your face and have a summer full of positivity, because no matter how much you don’t want to, you’ll have to go back to school once summers over. Have some fun while your summer lasts.

Summer Essentials Going to the pool or beach in the summer and not knowing what to bring is a real bummer, so here are some things you will always want to bring with you.
Waterbottles Staying out in the sun can get you dehydrated so make sure you bring a water with you wherever you go. You can buy a reusable water bottle which is better for the environment, you can make your water bottle cute by adding fruits.
Shoes
In summer you need a good pair of shoes that can be worn whenever. Birkenstocks are waterproof so you don’t have to worry about getting them wet when by water. They won’t break or tear when wearing them. Even though they are expensive for sandals they are worth it.
Sunglasses Sunglasses add to your outfit and protect your eyes from the sun. There are many sunglasses to choose from at the store. They can break easily but as long as you take care of them and try not to scratch them you will be good.
