1 Introduction 1.1 Overview

The primary purpose of this report is to provide factual information about the condition of Motor Sailing Yacht “X” (“the Vessel”) at the time of the survey.

The Vessel was inspected on Month, Day, Year.

The survey occurred while the vessel was docked at X Port, while the vessel was underway (“Sea Trial”).

An additional visual inspection took place from under water while the vessel was at anchor.

The survey was conducted by I.Y.S.A. Surveyor X, Principal Surveyor and Naval Architect, with assistance from I.Y.S.A. Surveyor Y.

1.2 Scope of Survey and General Limitations of Survey

The survey is a Pre‐Purchase Survey. The purpose of the survey is to establish the structural and the general condition of the Vessel.

The survey was undertaken according to instructions given by the Client, in order to support his contemplated acquisition of the Vessel. The Client stated that s/he intended to purchase the Vessel for seasonal use as a cabin charter boat. The Client stated s/he intends to own the Vessel for a period of 12 to 15 years.

This report is intended to be used by the named client in the normal manner concerning this type of survey performed. The report should not be relied upon for any other purpose by any other party and no liability is undertaken to such party.

The report concerns the condition of the Vessel at the time of the survey and the future condition of the yacht cannot be anticipated. Where reference is made to condition, in all cases this must be considered in relation to the age of the vessel (for example, “good” condition should not be taken to mean “new” condition).

General periodic servicing requirements are not mentioned in this report. Unless an item was specifically commented upon, it should be assumed that the item was not inspected. It is always recommended to have any machinery inspected and serviced by a specialist engineer.

4 The Survey 4.1 Hull Exterior 4.1.1 Material and Construction Details • G.R.P. • Solid glass reinforced polyester hull with end‐grain balsa sandwich above the waterline • Cast‐iron keel, epoxy painted, held by steel bolts on interior counter‐plates • Reinforcement of the whole by floor plates • Hanging rudder, stainless steel bi‐concial ruddershaft, step‐bearing with nylon ring 4.1.2 General Appearance The hull was observed from afar as well as through an underwater inspection. A comprehensive inspection of the hull was not possible as the Vessel was not dry‐ docked at the time of the survey.

4.1.3 Hull Below the Waterline The hull below the waterline was observed through an underwater visual inspection.

RECOMMENDATION: The hull was generally in good condition however the through‐ hull openings and instruments including the speedometer and depth sounder were crusted with marine growth (barnacles, etc) and should be cleaned. The anode was in good condition.

4.1.4 Hammer Testing and Measurements of Hull below the Waterline At the time of the survey, the Vessel was in the water. Therefore, no hammer testing occurred. The Vessel would need to be dry‐docked in order for such testing to occur.

4.1.5 Keel The keel was observed to be in good condition.

4.1.6 Rudder & Steering RECOMMENDATION: The rudder was damaged (approximately 300mm) in the lower aft corner and should be repaired.

4.2 Hull Internal Structure 4.2.1 General Appearance In general, the hull’s internal structure is of good condition. RECOMMENDATION: However, the coating of the hull’s internal structure was of poor condition in some places and should be repaired.

4.2.2 Hull Internal Molding Structure No significant structural issues were observed in the stiffeners of the hull.

RECOMMENDATION: The aft, side‐area of the bulkhead of the forward cabin is slightly damaged and should be repaired.

4.2.3 Mast Vertical Pipe Stiffener and Base Generally, the pipe stiffener is in good condition. RECOMMENDATION: The base should be cleaned and the coating repaired.

4.2.4 Transverse Bulkheads The transverse bulkheads were in good condition.

4.2.5 Longitudinal Girder of Engine Base The girder was in good condition.

4.2.6 Keel Bolts The condition of the keel bolts was not observable because the bolts are covered with material. However, no cracks or damage was discovered near the bolts.

4.3 Deck and External Fittings 4.3.1 Deck Molding and Covering In general the deck is in fair condition. Only the cockpit area is covered in teak. The condition of the teak and the caulking is in extremely poor condition. In some places, water leaks through the teak‐work into the accommodation below.

RECOMMENDATION: All the teak must be replaced.

4.3.2 Chain Locker Area In the chain locker area, there is evidence of newer, black‐colored material being placed over top of old material. RECOMMENDATION: The base of the anchor windlass is damaged and should be repaired (as explained in greater detail in picture captions below).

4.3.3 Forward and Aft Pulpits

The forward pulpit is not securely affixed to the deck. RECOMMENDATION: While the condition of the pulpit itself is fair, all the screws must be replaced.

RECOMMENDATION: One of the key supports of the aft pulpit on the starboard side is damaged and should be repaired.

4.3.4 Stanchions, Guard Rails, and Base Stanchions, guard rails, and toe‐rail / base was observed to be in fair.

Rust was observed at some juncture points. More detail is available in photographs below.

4.3.5 Hatches, Ports, Windows and Ventilation Hatches, ports, windows and ventilation was seen to be in fair. However, significant leaking was observed inside several cabins. RECOMMENDATION: Sealant should be repaired.

4.3.6 Deck Fittings and Equipment (cleats, fairleads, etc.)

RECOMMENDATION: Many of the blocks at the base of the mast are badly damaged and should be replaced.

RECOMMENDATION: Both the starboard and port side fairleads are not securely attached to the hull and should be repaired.

Both the port and starboard side genoa cars and tracks are in good condition.

RECOMMENDATION: The connection points that support the wings of the collapsible table are broken and should be repaired. In addition, cover of the locker in the center of the table is cracked and should be repaired.

As mentioned above, the teak in the cockpit area and the caulking is badly damaged and very thin in some places and should be replaced.

4.3.8 Gangplank and Boarding / Swimming Ladder The Vessel is equipped with both a boarding / swimming ladder as well as a gangplank on the stern of the boat. Both are in good condition.

4.3.9 Biminis and Dinghy

Aft biminis is in good condition however the coverage it provides is too narrow and it does not extend far enough aft to provide shelter to someone sitting at the helm RECOMMENDATION: There currently is no spray‐hood. One should be installed.

RECOMMENDATION: The dinghy is of poor quality and cannot be used in its current state. We recommend replacing with a new dinghy.

4.4 Rigging and Sails 4.4.1 Mast and Associated Rigging

The Vessel is equipped with a masthead rig with forestay, backstay, cap shrouds, lowers, single backstay and removable inner stay.

The mast was examined by a visual inspection made while standing on the deck as well as by ascending the mast The mast includes an in‐mast roller furler for the main sail Currently the mast is not calibrated. RECOMMENDATION: The mast should be calibrated by adjusting the spreaders as well as the shrouds.

RECOMMENDATION: The spreaders at the middle and at the top of the mast should be fastened securely to the mast. Currently there is a gap between the spreader and the mast.

4.4.2 Boom and Associated Rigging

The Vessel is equipped with a Sparcraft boom.

The boom sheaves are all intact and in good condition (no UV deterioration was observed).

RECOMMENDATION: The gas‐filled strut is currently not functional and should be repaired. In addition, the boom vang rope is frayed and should be repaired.

RECOMMENDATION: The safety stopper for the outhaul is currently not at the appropriate position.

RECOMMENDATION: The gooseneck is damaged with buckling observed on the lower part of the gooseneck. This should be replaced as it is not acceptably secure.

4.4.3 Shrouds & Chain Plates

Shroud chainplates are in good condition throughout the Vessel.

Swage terminals are straight and properly formed without cracks.

No significant corrosion was observed at entry to swage terminals.

4.4.4 Forestay & Backstay & Chain Plates

The Vessel is equipped with both a forestay and a backstay Both are in good condition Both are affixed well to their respective chain plates. The chain plates are in good conditions.

RECOMMENDATION: calibration should be made to ensure optimal rig performance 4.4.5 Jib Furling Mechanism

The jib furling mechanism and drum were observed to be in good condition. Some black electrical tape was observed to be in place at the top of the drum and should be examined.

The Vessel is equipped with one furling Genoa and one furling Main Sail. Both are Doyle Oleu‐Segel brand.

Both sails are of an unknown age although the buyer indicated that the sails were from 2012. The Main Sail seems to be too small for the Vessel and is most likely not of an appropriate design.

RECOMMENDATION: Both the Genoa and Main Sail showed signs of age‐related wear and damage and should be replaced. On the foot of the Main Sail there was evidence of an attempted repair made with a “doubler” material to prevent the damage from increasing.

The seller indicated that there was another set of sails onboard however it was not tested.

4.5 Propulsion 4.5.1 Engine & Transmission

Engine details • The marine diesel engine is a YANMAR 4JH4‐THE Series, 4‐stroke, vertical, water‐ cooled diesel engine.

• The maximum output at crankshaft is 80.9kW@3200 (110mhp@3200 rpm). The ‘cruising speed’ occurs at 2,200 rpm.

• The combustion system is by direct injection and aspiration is turbocharged with intercooler.

• The cooling system is fresh water cooling by centrifugal water pump and rubber impeller sea water pump • The lubrication system is an enclosed, forced lubricating system • The direction of the rotation is clockwise • Normal oil pressure ranges from a minimum of 41 psi (2.82 bar) to a maximum of 78psi (5.37 bar) • Normal coolant operating temperature of 76 to 90 degrees Celsius

Sea Trial observations A sea trial was conducted on November 8 XXX near the Southern coast of XXX Island. The wind was South Westerly at a range of five to ten knots. Sea conditions were mild with no significant waves or current observed. During the sea trial, the engine’s overall performance was tested. The engine and engine compartment was visually inspected an the alarms were tested.

A test was conducted to compare the engine’s rpm to boat speed by engaging the single‐ lever remote control handle at various positions. Engine temperature and engine oil pressure levels were also noted throughout the test. At the beginning of the test, the engine was placed into neutral and the tachometer displayed a reading of 800 rpm. In this setting, vibration was observed. RECOMMENDATION: additional testing required to determine the cause of the vibration at this rpm level.

The following relationship between the engine’s displayed rpm and boat speed was observed:

Hourmeter The engine’s hourmeter read 6,749 hours of operation.

Single‐Lever Remote Control Handle The engine is controlled with a Single‐Lever Remote Control Handle.

All positions of the handle were tested during the sea trial and were found to be in working condition.

Engine Oil / Lubrication The level of the oil in the engine was checked using the re‐insertable dipstick and was observed to be at the appropriate level. However, there was evidence of oil stains in the engine bilge area. No active leaks of engine oil were observed. It should be noted that an oil analysis was not conducted. This will be done in the second phase of the survey when the boat is dry‐docked.

Engine Coolant Reservoir At the time of the survey, the level of engine coolant in the reservoir was below the “Low” level. RECOMMENDATION: This is because the reservoir has been improperly mounted and should be lowered. The seller explained that the level of engine coolant was low because if it exceeded the “Low” level, some of the coolant could exceed the level of the coolant tank.

When the Filler Cap Tab of the engine was opened, the coolant level was low.

Fuel Filter Fuel filter was observed to be clean and in good condition.

Water Separator The water separator was observed to be in good condition

Sea Water Pump The sea water pump was observed to be in good condition.

Alternator, Belts, and Batteries The alternator was observed to be in good condition. There are three batteries (one for engine and two for domestic). The seller stated that the batteries were installed six months ago. The batteries are type E‐NEX Dual Purpose, model DC31MF.

Fuel‐Level Indicator RECOMMENDATION: The fuel level indicator was not functional at the time of the survey and should be repaired.

Engine Mount Engine mount was seen to be in good condition.

Engine Electrical System Alarm and indicators was seen to be in good condition.

Engine Maintenance History We were not provided with an engine maintenance history or documentation regarding any previous problems.

General Comments The engine is in good condition and is of 2014 vintage.

4.5.2 Stern Gear The stern gear was observed by the surveyor and was found to be in good condition.

4.5.3 Steering Above deck: The wheel appeared to be in good condition as well as the pedestal.

Below deck: The steering wire and cable were observed to be in good condition however some mild corrosion was observed on the radial drive.

Autopilot: There is an autopilot instrument connected to the steering system.

Generally, all the steering system below the deck (in particular in the aft lockers) was tangled and confused. RECOMMENDATION: This could make the system more prone to damage and should be repaired.

4.6 Systems and Services 4.6.1 Anchor The anchor is a 25kg Delta‐style anchor. It is in good condition.

4.6.2 Anchor Windlass The anchor windlass was observed to be in good condition. It is a brand “Lofrans,” Tigres model. While the machine itself is in good condition, we noted several very problematic issues related to the configuration of the system in general: There is no “down” button for the anchor. This is extremely dangerous because the anchor must be deployed manually.

The “up” button is difficult to deploy consistently and should be repaired Because of the awkward placement of the windlass (too far forward), it is difficult for one person to both flake the chain and engage the “down” button for the anchor.

RECOMMENDATION: 1) Re‐wire the windlass system and install a remote that has both a “down” and an “up” function. It is extremely unusual for a vessel of this size to be without a mechanized “down” function. 2) Remount the windlass more aft so that the entire anchor operation can be easily performed by one person.

RECOMMENDATION: Both the forward and aft heads were missing holding tanks.

This violates Greek code regarding the treatment of Black Water. Tanks must be installed immediately.

4.6.4 Fresh Water System There are two fresh water tank fillers, port and starboard side midship. Both fresh water tanks are continually distended. There are no instruments to indicate the water level in the tanks. RECOMMENDATION: an instrument to indicate water levels should be installed.

An electric, pressure‐controlled pump was arranged to supply water to the taps. This ran when the switch was operated. The pumps are located in the aft port side of the galley and are Jabsco brand. The pumps are not secured to the hull and are prone to damage. In addition, the hoses are disorganized and are unacceptable in the current state. RECOMMENDATION: Organize the hoses and secure the pumps to the correct positions to prevent damage.

I.Y.S.A. Pre‐Purchase Survey Report A heating tank (calorifier) made of plastic exists to provide hot water and is located in the aft part of the Vessel. No tank level indicator exists. The hot water was not tested.

4.6.5 Heads The Vessel is equipped with two heads; one forward and one aft.

The forward head is on the starboard side and is not equipped with a shower or sink.

RECOMMENDATION: a shower and sink should be installed. In addition, the flushing mechanism on the forward head is not functional and should be repaired.

4.6.6 Galley The galley is in fair condition but appears aged and has signs of damage in multiple places.

The galley has one refrigerator (aft) and one ice‐box (forward). Both are in fair condition however the sealant around the lids of both is badly damaged and should be replaced and cleaned.

RECOMMENDATION: The wooden support of the floor under the galley is completely rotted and must be replaced.

The galley is equipped with a sink. RECOMMENDATION: The manual pump to discharge grey water from the sink was not functional and should be repaired.

4.6.7 Electrical System

There is a 12v electrical system and 220v Shorepower installed on the Vessel.

RECOMMENDATION: In general, the wiring is poorly organized and should be rewired to be in a more tidy and correct position. The batteries are E‐NEX DC31 MF (12V / 100AH (20HR)/ 1000A(CA) / 800A(CCA). Of the three large batteries, two are for domestic and one is for the engine. The batteries are located forward of the engine under the floorboards.

There is an emergency battery located under the navigation table. There is an battery charger (Sterling Power Pro Charge Ultra).

4.6.8 Navigation Lights RECOMMENDATION: The port and starboard running lights installed on the bow pulpit are not functional. This is problematic and should be remedied as soon as possible.

The anchor light at top of mast and mid‐mast running light were observed to be in functional condition. RECOMMENDATION: However, the running light was missing a glass cover which should be repaired.

4.7 Accommodation Area 4.7.1 General Appearance In general the accommodation area is in fair condition.

Leakage was discovered in almost every port and window after a strong rain.

RECOMMENDATION: The seals around every port and window and hatch should be repaired in order to prevent leaks and water damage.

RECOMMENDATION: The wooden support under the floor in the kitchen is badly rotted and should be repaired.

RECOMMENDATION: In the forepeak cabin, the paneling is severely detached from the top hatch and should be repaired.

The floors of all the cabins are exposed. RECOMMENDATION: Carpeting should be installed for enhanced comfort.

As a general comment, the storage compartments in all the cabins is unusually small.

RECOMMENDATION: In addition, the door to the storage compartment in the forward cabin is broken and should be repaired.

4.8 Safety Equipment In general we would comment that it is the new owner’s responsibility to ensure that all safety equipment is up to the appropriate standards. All systems should be checked to ensure compliance and safety.

4.8.1 Second Anchor We did not note the presence of a second anchor during the survey.

4.8.2 Bailing / Bilge Pumping Both the manual and electronic bilge pump were seen to be in good condition.

4.8.3 Detection Equipment One smoke detector was seen mounted to the roof of the salon below‐deck. It was not inspected but appeared to be in good working condition.

4.8.4 Fire Fighting Equipment RECOMMENDATION: Fire extinguishers to be serviced and certificate provided.

Fire blanket provided for the galley and was seen to be in good condition.

4.8.5 First Aid Kit No first aid kit was discovered on the Vessel. RECOMMENDATION: Ensure that an adequate first aid kit is placed on‐board after purchase.

4.8.6 Lifejackets Lifejackets were stowed behind the couch in the saloon and appeared to be in good condition. We were told by the seller that there are enough jackets for ten persons.

4.8.7 Life Raft Raimar life raft was secured to the forward top deck. It was not tested during the survey. Information regarding the date of last service and the serial number was covered up with a sticker. RECOMMENDATION: have the life raft serviced professionally or purchase a new one.

4.8.8 Man Overboard Recovery Equipment Man overboard recovery equipment is mounted on the aft pulpit, starboard side.

4.8.9 Pyrotechnics / Flares One flare was discovered in the galley area. RECOMMENDATION: ensure that there is an adequate number and variety of flares on the Vessel.
