Prepare yourself for something Artrageous

Family Series

Artrageous is a troupe of misfits — artists, singers, dancers and musi cians — who started as friends doing street theater in Vancouver. Together they started the “All and Everything Theater,” a non-profit children’s theater focusing on chil dren’s entertainment, street theater and life-sized Bunraku puppetry (a type of traditional Japanese pup petry featuring rhythmic chanting and traditional music). The group had to overcome adver sity. On Christmas Day in the late 1980s, the group’s hand-built theater building — with all their props and puppets — burned to the ground. Instead of packing it in, they cre ated a new act. This troupe has per formed for the likes of Sir Richard Branson, Steve Forbes and General Colin Powell in venues and events all over the world, from India to Thai land, Paris to Austria, performing in more than 2,000 events. As people who live and breathe the arts, creativity, community, and in spiration, they created Artrageous to pay tribute to their roots and share their passion with the world. It’s a show that focuses on all the things they believe in and everything that got them to this place. It features art, music, theater, sing ing, dancing, audience interaction... all on one stage and done as a team of friends seeing the world and sharing a love of the arts. Imagine witnessing the creativity of an artist creating a masterpiece before your eyes in mere moments. Combined with captivating vocals, intricate choreography and excit ing music, Artrageous takes you on a visual journey and a high energy ride of inspiration, creativity and engagement.Thistroupe of artists, musicians, singers and dancers pay tribute to a variety of art forms, icons and mu sical genres throughout the evening. The result is a uniquely entertain ing, masterpiece show culminating in a gallery of fabulous finished paintings.Fromthe very beginning of their long history, Artrageous Troupe’s signature is interaction and engage ment... so be prepared to be a part of the“Eachshow. show is as unique as each audience and we can’t do it without you,” the group says.

The Queen’s Cartoonists perform music from cartoons. Pulling from over 100 years of an imation, TQC’s performances are perfectly synchronized to the films projected on stage. The band match es the energy of the cartoons, lead ing the audience through a world of virtuosic musicianship, multi-in strumental mayhem, and comedy. Projections of animated films dazzle the audience, while the band recreates original soundtracks notefor-note, or writes their own fresh compositions to modern pieces, all the while breathing new life into two uniquely American forms of art: jazz and animation. Tying everything together is the TQC brand of comedy — anecdotes about the cartoons and their compos ers, stream-of-consciousness humor, and elements of a musical circus. Watch your favorite classic car toon characters interact with the musicians on stage, and expect the unexpected from the Golden Age of Animation, cult cartoon classics, and modern animated films. Inspired by the crossroads of jazz, classical music, and cartoons, TQC features Jazz Age composers like Carl Stalling, Raymond Scott, and John Kirby, alongside classical gi ants Mozart, Rossini, and Strauss (to name just a few).

The six members of The Queen’s Cartoonists, all now residing in Queens, New York, originally hail from four continents. The band has brought its unique concert expe rience to performing arts centers, clubs, and festivals across the Unit ed States and Europe. As so many artists around the world, Quiana Lynell reconnected with longtime friends and con temporaries during the height of the pandemic. Spending time digging into the music of Betty Davis, Nancy Wilson and Dinah Washington, Lynell was reminded of the influ ence New Orleans music has had on her. On a whim she contacted a host of old band members and togeth er in one afternoon they created a magical Tiny Desk submission that gar nered national press as the Best Jazz submission of 2021.This reinvigorrated and reminded her of where it all began: the soul and blues of New Orleans that the horns bring to the bandstand.Growing up in small town west Texas, Lynell grew her appreciation for all types of music and quickly realized music was a way to connect to the world. With a smile that will entrance you and a voice that helps your troubles disappear, Lynell has made her salient mark on jazz with the much anticipated Concord release “A Little Love.”Lynell’s vocal dexteri ty allows her to perform a limitlessGraduatingrepertoire.from Lou isiana State University’s music department, Lynell is able to harness her voice as a true instrument and perform various genres of music with precision and validity.Prior to winning the 2017 Sarah Vaughan Com petition, Lynell could fre quently be found with a four piece rhythm section and at least a horn or two. Due to the demands of an emerging career, Lynell chose to streamline the band and record with a quartet, always knowing the “big band” would re turn. The time has come and The Lush Life is set to bring the New Orleans funk, groove, and soul to hearts and ears worldwide. Lynell has taken tracks from “A Little Love” and reimagined them to high light the new ensemble, utilizing the communica tive nature of New Orle ans-inspired Rhythm and Blues, shout choruses and vamps that keep the audi ence entranced within the soul of the music. Working with Daniel Meinecke, her long time accompanist and arranger, the show is infused with standards, originals, and classic soul, that as always shares the message of love and undying hope in the goodness within. “One of the greatest performances of cham ber music I’ve ever encountered,” praised American Record Guide. Gramophone wrote, “Superb...Any group would be hard-pressed to imi tate this blend of verve and poise...” Their Mendelssohn album was cho sen by the UK’s Classic FM as the Best Chamber Music Their Tchaikovsky and Smetana recording was hailed by The Guard ian, “... Trio con Brio Copenhagen scale Tchaikovsky’s heights with the verve their name suggests ...” The trio’s most recent recordings of the complete Beethoven piano trios were received with the highest critical acclaim, with comments such as “... I was struck... by the feeling of im provisation; of three players moving forward together into a strange and wonderful new world...” Soo-Jin plays an Andrea Guarneri violin, Soo-Kyung plays a Grancino cello, and Jens is Denmark’s first Steinway Artist. Both string players are endorsed by Jagar Strings and Thomastik-Infeld Vienna. All three members of the trio knew right from the start that they would find their musical identities as a pi ano trio: “There is something about the configuration of a trio, about that triangle, that somehow focuses and amplifies the special understanding that we all have as people and as mu sicians. It is both a freedom and a ful fillment.”

“Works by Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms are transformed in their hands into the alive-and-kicking mu sic of today” said Danish Broadcast ing’s Esben Tange. Winning almost all of the major competitions for pi ano trio, they are regularly heard at the world’s leading venues and con cert series. Among these, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Wigmore Hall, Berlin Pierre Boulez-Saal, Concert gebouw, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Seoul Arts Centre, Louvre Paris and of course their beloved “home ven ues,” the Royal Library and the Tivo li Concert Hall, in Copenhagen.
