Evacuation Support Training of Trainers Workshop in Tagaytay City IOM and the Department of Social Welfare and Development work to mainstream Evacuation Preparedness and Support in Local Disaster Risk and Reduction Management
From 16 to 19 February, IOM Philippines and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), held a “Training of Trainers Workshop on Mainstreaming Evacuation Support in Local Disaster Risk and Reduction” Meeting in Tagaytay City. The workshop had the overall objective of developing a roster of certified national Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) trainers to conduct basic CCCM trainings for CCCM practitioners and Local Disaster Risk Reduction in Management Councils at the city, municipal and barangay level. In the last seven years, the Philippines faced several natural disasters, including earthquakes, floods and typhoons. In 2013 Typhoon Haiyan caused massive destruction across the country. This string of emergencies and the effects produced by it highlighted the value and importance of CCCM. The four day workshop, which was divided into seven sessions, aimed to familiarize the trainers on CCCM training materials and design for basic camp management for local governmental units, camp management practitioners and family and community based disaster preparedness.
