Displacement Highlights
IOM Iraq continues to deliver life-saving family non-food item kits throughout Iraq, with 1,044 NFI kits delivered between 11 - 15 September to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Iraq. Continuing our partnership with local authorities, representatives from IOM Iraq attended a provincial meeting of Governor’s Emergency Cell (GEC) in Sulaymaniyah regarding transport of IDPs from various locations to Arbat Camp, which has the capacity to host 800 families. IOM Iraq Community Revitalization Programme teams are planning to deliver livelihood assistance in the form of small businesses and vocational training in the camps. Displaced families often face a disruption in their education. In an effort to facilitate the education of displaced children in Sulaymaniyah, IOM approached local directorate officials to assist in restoring and expanding infrastructure for two schools. In Kirkuk, IOM Iraq rapid assessment and response teams (RART) and CRP teams distributed 25 In-Kind Grants (IKG) to 22 beneficiaries as part of the Community Revitalization Programme.
