“ My internships have broadened my perspective on who I am, what I want to do, and how I’m distinguishing myself from everyone else. I’m from Miami, and Iona’s proximity near, but not in, New York City made me feel comfortable while exploring it. Also, the Career Development Center’s alumni dinners helped me learn what to expect in interviews.” – Roger Rojas, Business Administration Major Intern, Cohen Commercial Real Estate

What We Look For Preparation & Purpose Academic performance is a significant factor in Iona’s admission decision, especially in your senior year. Accelerated courses such as honors, advanced placement and International Baccalaureate (IB), as well as meaningful electives, demonstrate your commitment to maximizing your college experience. Educational Background The Admissions Committee closely reviews your school's curriculum and grading policies to put your course selections and grades in the appropriate context.
27 Standardized Test Performance We also consider your highest SAT or ACT scores. Beyond the Numbers Grades and scores are only part of the admissions equation. An optional personal essay helps us understand your goals, interests, experiences and values. Opinions of Those Who Know You Written evaluations from your counselor and two academic teachers provide a sense of your unique gifts and capabilities. These testimonials complete the picture of who you are as a student and a person. Extracurricular Activities After-school activities, volunteer work and employment illustrate your organizational and leadership skills as well as your commitment to helping others. They also tell us that you can manage your time while pursuing your interests outside the classroom. Strength of Character Iona seeks students who innovate and take risks, people of integrity and good citizenship and individuals who strengthen and support those around them even as they work to develop themselves.

Just for Parents You may be experiencing mixed emotions at the prospect of sending your child to college — excitement as you explore different campuses, nostalgia as your family prepares to start this new chapter and concern about affordability and best value. You’re not alone — we’re here to welcome parents, too, and answer any questions.
You Can Get Involved Too The PAIR (Parent & Alumni Recruitment) Team at Iona is here to help you take an active role in the Iona College experience with academic and social activities to experience some of the same excitement, discoveries, challenges and changes your son or daughter will encounter at the College. PAIR members serve as ambassadors, assisting in recruiting highly qualified students to Iona. By sharing your own story, you will be able to personalize the admissions process for our applicants, distinguishing the College and helping to create meaningful relationships between the Iona family and prospective students.
Affording an Iona Education You’ve been anticipating this expense for a long time. Iona College has shown its commitment to affordability by simultaneously limiting tuition increases and increasing financial aid dollars. Your child can reap the lifelong benefits of a high-quality education at a lower price than you might have expected. The College strives to meet the financial needs of every student — 99 percent of first-year students receive scholarship aid. Need is determined by the information provided on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All students who apply for admission are also considered for merit-based scholarships, which are awarded regardless of need.
