As the first event of its kind, the Indian Ocean Craft Triennial or IOTA* (as it became known) was remarkable in its grass roots derivation and organic growth. This was an incredible feat during a global pandemic. Focussing on excellence it consciously sought to collaborate with craftspeople and artists from around the Indian Ocean rim, to engage the local WA sector, and to tell important stories of our times through the medium of contemporary craft.
This report summarises the impact of this new event and reports on its delivery.
