Open Positions • Chair
• Secretary General • 5 Vice Chair positions: VC Academics, VC Festivals and Practitioners, VC Social Media and Communications, VC Publications, VC Special Projects • All positions are pro bono • Age limit: below and including 35 years old
Chair: The Conductor • Makes sure everyone is on track
• Schedules frequent briefings and communicates with IOV • Helps organize the next Congress by coordinating with the host country • Gives a helping hand in all prjects and has the responsibility of making sure everything runs smoothly
• The position should be filled by someone who has been a part of the organization for at least a year
Secretary General: The Peacekeeper • Tie breaker in case of disagreements
• Supports the chair and gives a helping hand in all projects as needed • Keeper of membership lists and minutes of all meetings (a second copy is with the chair) • The position should be filled by someone who has been a part of the organization for at least a year
Vice Chair Academics: The Doc • Main role is to lead academic research projects
• Ideally someone working toward a Ph.D. or having one • Also responsible for creating a list of academics from membership list with interests and level within academia
Vice Chair Festivals and Practitioners: The Hands-On • Main role is to report on festivals and to create a practitioners list • Ideally someone with a lot of practical experience of folk culture and/or great organizational skills
Vice Chair Social Media and Communication: The Social One • Main role is to keep up the Social Media sites
• As well as to foster communication with external organizations (such as UNESCO’s Youth Section)
Vice Chair Publications: The Bookie • Main role is the publication of the IOV Youth Post Congress Journal and Magazine • Also helps IOV with their Publications
Vice Chair Special Projects: The Special One • Main role is to work on special projects as suggested at the IOV Youth Congress
• Also in charge of applying for additional finding
Nominations • Nominate yourself or someone else with their permission by 10th July Midnight Polish Time by sending Luba a Facebook message: https://www.facebook.com/luba.pirgova • You have to include a short paragraph explaining the interest in the position and why the person would be a good fit for the post • Additional nominations can be given verbally during the Congress Morning Session on Sunday the 16th of July where also the ones nominated by the 10th of July will pitch for their positions
Voting if Not Present • Once the morning nominations are pitched in the last day of the Congress, the information will be published online on the Facebook page
• Those not present will have time until 3 pm Polish Time to cast their vote at a predetermined online platform link that will be posted on the Facebook page in the morning of the 16th • Those voting will have to provide name, date of birth, address, email, nationality and membership start date in order for their vote to be accepted
Voting if at the Congress • One vote per country is allowed
• If a member of that country is present at the Congress, they have the final say of how the country votes. They will be given information of how others from their country have voted online, which they can take into account • Only IOV Youth Members (under and including 35) may vote • A ballot paper will be provided where the voter fills in the nominees names opposite the positions open
• Votes will be tallied up and announced immediately
Last Notes • We are including both nominations and voting from people who are not at the congress, because as Youth we acknowledge that not everyone can participate in every Congress, but we want to encourage wider participation •If you do not have Facebook Access, but would like to participate in nominations and voting, please, contact existing board members for Luba’s e-mail address • We will be streaming opening and closing sessions, individual presentations, nominations and voting • A schedule will be available just before the Congress
