W
e live in the era of digital multi-channel communication: everything runs through the Internet, social networks are a new virtual meeting point, and e-commerce platforms enable you to buy any kind of product without moving from your chair. Yet, despite all this, face-to-face relations with existing and potential customers have never been so important in the industrial world. In fact, only interpersonal interaction allows you to build your business on trust. Attending trade fairs, as exhibitors or as visitors, is therefore a key part of the marketing, communication and commercial strategy of any company, small or large. That is why we thought we would give a gift to all of our readers. A gift to help them orient themselves among the thousands of events that are organised around the world every year for the surface treatment and finishing industry. What you have in your hands is the first edition of a calendar collecting the most important trade fairs and congresses that will take place throughout the world in 2018. These events are either specifically addressed to the surface treatment field or involving industrial sectors that use surface treatments as a final or interoperational process stage to give added value to their products. From the automotive, transport, and off-road vehicle industries through the fields of aluminium profiles, structures and semi-finished products for metallic architecture, furnishings, and household appliances to the mechanical and medical sectors, this calendar should be an indispensable information and planning tool for all our readers. Those who attend several trade fairs throughout the year know how difficult can be to select the most worthy events, from those involving mature markets through those considered as global events not to be missed to those addressed to developing and growing markets. Sometimes it is difficult to gather useful information to plan your participation or visit. With this calendar, which has no claim to be exhaustive, ipcm® selected several interesting events for you, indicating their date, venue, theme, and website – all the information needed to plan a trip or decide whether to set up a stand or not. We have arranged it in three major sections, corresponding to our three magazines: • the ipcm and ICT section lists trade fairs and congresses dedicated to the general industry and to the manufacturing, chemical and mechanical industries, including the washing and cleaning processes; • the Protective Coatings section includes trade fairs and congresses for the heavy industry and for the field of corrosion prevention and protection; • the ipcm_Ibérica/LatinoAmérica section collects the events organised in the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking markets.
