VISIONNAIRE IS AN ITALIAN META-LUXURY DESIGN BRAND BESPOKE SOLUTIONS FOR VISIONARY DREAMERS

YESTERDAY, TODAY, TOMORROW

1959

: marks the founding of the historic Italian

company IPE, by the brothers Pompeo, Carlo and Vittorio Cavalli. Their entrepreneurial adventure in the world of furnishings, specializing in upholstered pieces marked by unrivaled engineering and stylistic innovation for the times, was a great success. During the 1970s the second generation of the family joined the firm, represented by Vittorio’s son, Luigi Cavalli, who envisioned and implemented the brand’s expansion on an international scale. Halfway through the 1990s Luigi’s children, Leopold and Eleonore, became involved, launching a new initiative with their father which led to the birth of Visionnaire in 2004. The new operation involved offerings with a purely original character: an anomaly within the galaxy of Made in Italy brands – and elsewhere – generating products of extroverted design, with the ability to define – as the first of the first. A field of action that would extend from the painstaking formulation of each individual object, to its projection into the environmental dimension, producing detailed volumes of every size, designed to respond to an infinite range of personal requirements. Hence, Visionnaire has created a totally unique concept driven by a tailor made approach, fastidious refinement, inventive ideas and exceptional workmanship, and turned it into a true trademark, and in the process, redefining the term “luxury” in utterly unprecedented ways. Visionnaire envisions new worlds focused upon individual identities, and in so doing, sets a new bar for successful residential design. In short, it represents the pinnacle of reference, guiding a revolution of taste in the realm of interiors, but more importantly codifying the principles for a new philosophy of life.

Visionnaire is Full Home Design. Visionnaire is Bespoke Luxury. Visionnaire is Lifestyle. Visionnaire is Wellbeing. Visionnaire sets a style – creates a new language – that has a character of unexpected invention, formulated to reveal an expressive universe that knows no thematic bounds and places no restrictions on experimental investigation. The force of this way of interpreting an entrepreneurial mission lies in the ability to forge beyond limits, to extend the company’s action over the threshold of the possible, fulfilling desires and visions previously relegated to the realm of the unachievable. Visionnaire loves complexity, finding solutions through extreme research, bringing together distant worlds and combining the multiple forms of art with the positive excitement found in the dimension of dreams. Since 2010 Visionnaire has included stakeholders from international investment funds but the brand’s primary orientation and characteristics have remained unchanged: its creative action, communication and spread have been further expanded, taking on the character of a truly unique phenomenon. Today, capitalizing on the experience gained throughout its rich history, and reflecting upon the key concepts of its approach, Visionnaire has encoded and conveyed its foundational values, expressed through ten programmatic tenets.

IPE took part in the first edition of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan with the Mercury armchair, designed by the sculptor Rito Valla: art and design find a new, completely original formula of interaction in this unique proposal. On the left: Domus 406, September 1963, page 58; Domus 408, November 1963, page 65; Rivista Dell’Arredamento 107, November 1963.

lexibility, professionalism, Italian craftsmanship and the design and creation of “bespoke luxury” to satisfy the demands of the most exacting customers. Visionnaire is able to fulfill the most particular requests, and after satisfying a customer’s wishes often takes the opportunity to make it the basis of a new collection. Visionnaire is synonymous with manufacturing and high Italian tailoring, the mark of the best “Made in Italy”. Products are hand - made and / or hand-sewn, according to a long engineering process that takes place inside the Maison’s style and design department. They are hand crafted by the best Italian “craftsmanship couturier”, carefully chosen

by our holding company, IPE srl., which has been in the field since 1959. The selection of materials and development of new technologies have always been an essential aspect for Visionnaire when launching a new collection. Treatments and procedures on unique metal parts of the industry always at the forefront of luxury lifestyle. From modelling, where the forms are made with multiple operations such as laser cutting and plasma technology, industrial mechanics techniques, such as fusion, printing, turning, curving and incisions, to the multiple processes that always end with manual processes to guarantee uniqueness and

prestige. Essential to the finishing process, in order to ensure a continuous search of colours and different textures. The materials used, like stainless steel, brass and aluminium, are always chosen to optimize the structures, the allure and the product’s performance.

DECÀLOGO A

n exceptional project that takes the guise of a collectible book, in a numbered edition that outlines the ten basic and indispensable values of the company. The volume – titled “Decàlogue” – is the result of an effort that includes various contributions: editorial coordination by Barbara Brondi & Marco Rainò, outstanding photography by Delfino Sisto Legnani, and the critical viewpoints of Felix Burrichter, Leon Sun and Natalia Timasheva.

Ten foundation values. Ten programmatic precepts. Entrepreneurial energy blends with the poetry of the creative act. Each of the key concepts of the Visionnaire philosophy is defined through a sequence of words that express a vision, with the force of a credo. To narrate our own roots, to verify our identity, to outline the trajectories of an ambitious future.

SALONE DEL MOBILE. MILANO 2019 ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION

T

he year 2019 was one of anniversaries for IPE-Visionnaire: the mother company IPE was founded 60 years ago, while Visionnaire, its exclusive brand, celebrated its 15th birthday. For the 58th edition of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan and the Fuorisalone 2019, these milestones have been commemorated with a series of original initiatives. The new Visionnaire collection, titled Anniversary for the occasion, includes over 80 products, mostly created for indoor/ outdoor residential projects but also covering a specific selection for the contract sector.

15

HIGHLIGHTS - FAIRS AND EVENTS

The art direction by Eleonore Cavalli developed a horizon of new proposals, the result of work commissioned to Italian designers Alessandro La Spada, Roberto Lazzeroni, Marco Piva, Armando Bruno – in a duo with Alberto Torres – Mauro Lipparini, Giuseppe Viganò, Fabio Bonfà, and the international designers Steve Leung and Maria Serebryanaya with Roberta Verteramo. Moving forward with its focus on bespoke craftsmanship and maniacal attention to detail, Visionnaire introduced several important creative and stylistic innovations in Anniversary. In the area of experimentation, the combination of different materials generated results of great impact: innovative cement coatings that broadcast luminous highlights from bronze are combined with “inlays” of “liquid” metals on marble surfaces, while precious and exclusive semi-precious stones – like the 4 seasons – alternate with abonos fossil wood with an open-pore finish. Among the unusual decorative themes, the silhouettes of mountain peaks returned in the irregular embroidery of portions of furniture, taking on the identity of a visual signature to enhance headboards, for example, or the textile shades that complete some of the light sources.

VISION T

he historic flagship store in Milan, a space of 2000 square meters created inside the former Cinema Cavour, designed in 1962 by Vittorio Viganò, came alive with a surprising architectural installation titled “Vision”, featuring a series of video projections created for the occasion: this part of the space, poetic and theatrical at the same e, contains the brand’s offerings of furniture

and accessories, with a specific focus on fifteen Visionnaire “icons,” a tribute to the brand’s history of invention and production at the 15th anniversary of its founding. The 10 videos that interpret the ten values of the Decàlogue have been created as multimedia artworks that convey the viewer into an immersive psychedelic voyage; each video captures a concept, starting with a symbolic

material subject that is transformed into a pattern, a forceful metaphorical composition. Hands, bodies, natural elements and architecture weave the tenets of the Decàlogue into visual form.

THE GARDEN OF BEAUTY IL PAVONE V

isionnaire chose Design Miami and Art Basel for the official unveiling of Il Pavone. The capsule collection designed by Los Angeles based artist and designer Marc Ange is an ode to the romantic and seductive beauty of the peacock. The collection was presented

for the first time at the Visionnaire flagship store in Miami this December 2019, with an exhibit entitled The Garden of Beauty, which was open to the public from December 2nd to December 8th, paying tribute to both Design Miami and Art Basel.

26

I

l Pavone is the king of the encounter. A limited edition throne created in the image of a peacock, notorious for its dramatic beauty and sublime plumage, the ceremonial chair explores the idea of seduction without compromise. The collection draws inspiration from the “Theory of Handicap”, an evolutionary hypothesis which examines the costliness of advertised ornament in the animal kingdom. The peacock, with its wild and colorful feathers, leads a brazen and extravagant existence in the face of possible danger. The beautiful bird does not hide, and has no endowments in self defense; his kind chooses form over function, and vanity over sanctuary. Marc Ange’s ode to this innate beauty, Il Pavone, uses 70’s vintage inspired camel leather, vibrant blue and green custom Visionnaire fabrics, and brass coated in regal bronze plating, to give life to an allegorical convergence of Art & Design. Il Pavone Armchair series has been presented as a fleet of five, and an aesthetically conservative version of the solitaire throne. Together, the six pieces from the capsule collection create the pinnacle of a verdure journey through The Garden of Beauty.

Everyday evocative T

he setting for the new Visionnaire campaign, which appears in magazines and digital channels all over the world as from September 2019, is Villa Arconati. A historical location, defined as the “petite Versailles italienne”, located in Bollate, just 10 Km from Milan and now a national monument. It was originally owned by Galeazzo Arconati who, in 1621, redesigned the gardens taking inspiration from those of Versailles and who used drawings by Leonardo da Vinci for the stables.

“We drew our inspiration from the atmospheres painted by the great Caravaggio. Light is the true protagonist of our campaign,” says Eleonore Cavalli, Visionnaire Art Director. “The poetical atmosphere that we sought to achieve originates from a wish to create a short circuit between this splendid location - purposely only dimly lit - and our product, conversely spotlighted with cool and overexposed light to underline its importance, guiding the observers’ eyes and creating an emotional language of light. In the case of the Cà Foscari bed, the light guides your eyes towards its special threedimensional headboard and creates this blackout between the Lombardy Baroque style, with its marvellous pastel colours, and the perspective effect of the stark light on the product. In the background, other furnishings make up the room, like the Rosemary armchairs, portrayed with light that is still cool, while softer and more natural. The intention is to create a new perspective order that will guide the eyes of the observer.”

The star products are: Cà Foscari living room, Cà Foscari bedroom, Kylo dining room, Babylon living room, Kobol wellness room, Anthem living room and Siegfried high bench. The narrative is enriched by the presence of millennial female figures who, according to their different origins - South American, Asian and African - symbolically interpret present-day society, expressing their individuality and their femininity in a contemporary way.

Some of the pieces – like the Siegfrid bench designed by Alessandro La Spada and Samuele Mazza – are still bestsellers today, 15 years later. Visionnaire immediately makes its mark as a unique brand thanks to its sartorial approach, making exclusive ideas and impeccable workmanship its main features. Thanks to its posture and shape, clearly inspired by the royalty of a throne, Siegfrid is absolutely one of the most quintessential pieces of the brand.

The Sveva chaise longue has a timeless elegance, presented here in a version with capitonnè seat and canopy in sangallo lace, all in white. JASON and RAIDHO dining tables

T

he J a s o n dining table, designed by Roberto Lazzeroni, communicates a clean, minimalist design that is almost Japanese in nature. Its particular features are the curved workmanship of the base and the steel seams of the finely crafted inlays of three types of marble for the top (Invisible Grey, Verde Rameggiato, Rosso Levanto). These have different consistencies, creating an effect of dynamic highlights and warmth in a material that is normally considered static and cold. Visionnaire’s special workmanship in marble, glass, granite, onyx and semiprecious stones

41

like agate or amethyst, can transform “rough stones” from all over the world, into real works of art. The exclusivity and uniqueness of the natural material, and the complexity of the workmanship made them doubly unique. The processing produces not only the precision and the accuracy typical of a high-technology industry, but also give the original material further benefits that enhance the value of the product. The Raidho dining table, by Steve Leung is

a mix of materials that includes mosaics and inserts.

B

efore a star studded crowd of hundreds of movers and shakers from Los Angeles’s design and real estate worlds, Visionnaire celebrated the much anticipated grand opening of its Los Angeles Flagship showroom on February 7, 2019 . Occupying the light-bathed first floor of a mid-century modernist building, the new showroom opened in the heart of West Hollywood’s throbbing Design District, home to the highest concentration of furniture stores on the American west coast. Conceived by Visionnaire designers, the

Outside, a generous green space will showcase the brand’s myriad outdoor offerings. The new location serves not just as a showroom, but as a true design workshop, a place for clients to explore Visionnaire’s limitless customization capabilities in everything from wall-coverings, to ceilings and floors, to entire kitchens and baths.

The embassy is an outstanding partner for metropolitan housing solutions, large houses, soft contract environments and yachts. The embassy, which is located in the Southern Island District at No. 40 Shek Pai Wan Road, Tin Wan, offers its customers an engaging and immersive experience, exclusively behind closed doors and by appointment to ensure a tailored approach and maximum privacy. The space is spread over a 600 square metres area on a single storey, where the linguistic codes of the last three furniture collections – Greenery, Respiro and Anniversary – have been interpreted through careful calibration of the brand’s iconic pieces: the meta-luxury concept

69

is expressed through the use of highquality materials, complex technological processes with light shapes, and design with meticulous lines and proportions, a sartorial ability expressed in each of the collection’s products. Visitors who enter the embassy are welcomed into an environment bathed in natural light filtering through large windows, that offer a view of the main street. The visitors are then taken on a journey through the various collections in an authentic, 100% Visionnaire house in which the different spaces interact in unison. The heart of the setting is the Visionnaire Augustus kitchen, a pure expression of Italian culture, which is presented here over an area of 50 square metres and is perfectly suited to events and cooking demonstrations organized at the embassy.
