1BAKI HOUSE
A FAMILY HOUSE IN BLACK SEA REGION
PROGRAM: Housing | LOCATION: Trabzon, Turkey | TYPE: Professional | YEAR: 2022 Freelance Project Under Construction
In Collaboration With: Ömer Ağırsoy
Client: Baki Family
Located in the rich landscape of the black sea region, B house is designed for the family where they can get away from the hustle of the city and experience nature. The design intends to blend into its rich natural setting with its formal and material decisions. A Linear and sloppy project site is utilized to provide access to the house from different levels. Living units are elevated from the ground to emphasize splendid vistas towards the North while providing a storage and garage area on the ground level. The elevated mass becomes more transparent and highlights its great natural setting. Large glass windows frames alternative viewpoints in different directions while providing a seamless connection between interior and exterior.
The layout of the house is specialized for the needs of the family. The ground floor is left for the garage and storage for gardening activities. The first floor contains the living, dining, and kitchen area in addition to the study room. Open plan layout increases interaction within the living area and provides different activities/atmospheres within the same space. The living space contains stairs that connect upper and below levels. The second floor is arranged to accommodate three bedrooms for the family members. The Interior layout provides a modern and relaxing atmosphere for the family. Regional materials, natural wood, brick and stone are used to optimize climatic conditions between different seasons while promoting this cozy experience in the interior.

EYÜP COMMUNITY CENTER ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT
İstanbul Municipality Community Centers Competition
In Collaboration With:
Ömer Ağırsoy
Gizem Aydemir
PROGRAM: Community Center | LOCATION: İstanbul, Turkey | TYPE: Competition | YEAR: 2021
Eyüpsultan district spreads gently on a sloppy terrain under the trees with its historical, architectural and natural beauties, where the built environment and nature come together in harmony. The natural assets and biological diversity of the Eyüpsultan created a peaceful living environment for its residents, it also attracted lots of visitors and inspired artists throughout the centuries. It has been a significant example for today’s city. However; these two important natural and built characteristics of the fabric are decreasing day by day due to the dense settlements, industrialization, and natural disasters. The interaction between the public space and built environment dissolved, while the streets are dominated by cars. Even natural assets eventually squeezed into Eyüpsultan Cemetery, where only those who do not live.
The project; tries to understand these characteristics/memories of the urban context to reproduce these relations on the scale of new “Community Center”. “Community Center”; is considered as a social infrastructure that will revitalize neighborhood relations by providing continuities at different scales between city and building, nature and architecture, visitors and residents. The project creates a series of flexible outdoor and indoor spaces around a green street for its users to promote education and production.

Amphitheatre
For the events taking place outside between the buildings, a part of the building was used as an open amphitheatre.
The Library

3 150 BAY STREET
A MULTIPURPOSE BUILDING IN JERSEY CITY
Professional Project
Completed
Client: EW Howell Construction Group

Drawings produced by me
PROGRAM: Multipurpose | LOCATION: Jersey City, USA | TYPE: Professional | YEAR: 2020
Situated within Jersey City’s Powerhouse Arts District, 150 Bay Street represents a harmonious blend of historical and contemporary architectural elements. Originally constructed in 1908 by architect Howard Chapman as the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company building (A&P Building), it has achieved landmark status and is officially registered on the Federal Register of Historic Places. Today, this multipurpose facility encompasses private offices, art studio workspaces, retail storefronts, and residential lofts, playing a pivotal role as a cultural hub for a dynamic community of artists, entrepreneurs, and college students.
During the renovation process, the interior design of the office area is defined by well-lit, open floor plans, a white color scheme, and sleek black glass exteriors, all complemented by modern amenities. Our team was responsible for the millwork within the building. The millwork supports the design principles through the use of natural woods, neutral colors, and high-end details. Each millwork item is crafted individually by our team to ensure the production of the highest-quality products.

PROGRAM: Architectural Center | LOCATION: Bologna, Italy | TYPE: Academic | YEAR: 2018
In the current era of rapid urban expansion, many cities are unfortunately losing some of the unique and defining qualities that make them special. To counter this trend and preserve their distinctiveness, cities with strong spatial and architectural characteristics, such as Bologna, have a valuable opportunity to develop contemporary structures that maintain their historical charm. Bologna, with its rich architectural and historical heritage, serves as fertile ground for this endeavor.
This project serves as a means of raising awareness about the urban environment and reimagining the idiosyncratic traits of a medieval city in the context of modern development. This approach aims to create a harmonious blend of old and new within the city. The chosen function for this project, an architecture center, is particularly fitting because it provides a space for exploring and celebrating the architectural features of Bologna and reinterpreting these significant characteristics in a contemporary and relevant way. This initiative not only safeguards the city’s cultural legacy but also ensures that it remains an inspiration for future generations, seamlessly blending tradition and innovation in urban development.
30
Bologna has a very strong ground level, almost a homogeneous urban platform.
Unique to Bologna, this platform cannot be represented as a thick, single ground line; it becomes three dimensional to accommodate some of the under and above ground urban functions. In between, the city is formed by a multilayered structure.
The project transforms the section of the city to the building scale. The ground line expands and create contours on the bottom and top.
In Bologna every street ends with a monument, a church, an obelisk, or a fountain. In this way, the promenade on the streets became meaningful.
Near the project area, there are 3 monuments which are Le Corbusier’s Le Esprit Neouve, Kenzo Tange’s trade towers and Leonardo Benevolo’s fair(Fiera) district. The architecture center makes the masters’ work visible by putting each monument at a unique vanishing point.

2023 Turkey-Syria Earthquake
PROGRAM: Housing | LOCATION: Hatay, Turkey | TYPE: Volunteer | YEAR: 2023
The Urgent Design Studio was established as a volunteer initiative within the METU Faculty of Architecture to respond immediately following the February 2023 earthquakes in Southeast Turkey. This initiative aims to develop and construct several projects to meet the urgent spatial needs of affected areas, including temporary shelters, animal shelters, toilets, and indoor dividers. Among the projects is the “Paper Log House,” which was built with the help of volunteer students and faculty members.
The “Paper Log House” is a temporary housing project realized in collaboration between the METU Urgent Design Studio and Shigeru Ban Architects/Volunteer Architects Network. The project aims to provide a fast and effective solution to the urgent housing needs in earthquake-affected areas
The “Paper Log House” was designed by Shigeru Ban Architects, and the prototype production was carried out by the Urgent Design Studio. Since March 2023, the Urgent Design Studio has been working in collaboration with Shigeru Ban Architects/Volunteer Architects Network to realize the Paper Log House. The construction was completed through the collective efforts of METU students and faculty members.

GAME ENVIRONMENT DESIGN
Digital Environment Design
Personal Project
Unreal Engine 5
PROGRAM: Game Art | LOCATION: Digital | TYPE: Personal | YEAR: 2023
The ancient city of Ephesus was once a vibrant hub of knowledge, where scholars from all corners of the world gathered to learn and explore. Virtual Library of Ephesus: A Digital Art Odyssey is an ambitious project that combines architectural elements with digital art.
