JAL will give thousands of people with a criminal record a second chance... We are pleased to announce that on June, 10th the Seattle City Council unanimously passed the Job Assistance Legislation. With the passage of this ordinance, employers can no longer ask about criminal history on a job application or reference criminal history in advertising. This law will give thousands of people with a criminal record a second chance at building a new life.

eattle—Hace ya más de tres años, las participantes del Círculo de Sojourner Place testificaron ante la Comisión de Derechos Humanos de Seattle (CDHS) para solicitar que las personas con crímenes y delitos no violentos, no relacionados con el sexo puedan ser añadidos como una clase protegida a la Ley de Discriminación para la Vivienda de la Ciudad. Esta ley permitiría a dichas personas tener una segunda oportunidad, reunirse con sus familias y mejorar sus oportunidades de empleo. Como resultado directo de la acción del Círculo, la CDHS inició el diálogo y apoyó la Legislación Asistencia con Em-

Their goal is to create a bilingual pamphlet that clearly states mothers’ rights and to distribute it at WIC (the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children), libraries and local clinics. They also plan to organize workshops to advocate for the rights of mothers and pregnant women.

ig Harbor—In Washington State over 8,200 prisoners transition back into the community every year. They encounter many obstacles including: significant debt; stigma of incarceration; limited education; and employers and communities barring them from employment and housing. These roadblocks often thwart their possibility for a second chance and trap them in a cycle of intergenerational poverty, debt, and homelessness, while increasing the likelihood of recidivism.

Sowing and Harvesting Wellbeing: How to Build Healthy Emotional Relationships, in association with Northwest Justice Project and Lower Valley Crisis and Support Services, covered domestic violence prevention and sexual harassment in the fields. Participants learned how to identify red flags, the process for reporting abuse, the laws that protect them from harm, and available resources for the Latino immigrant community.

Their goal is to create a bilingual pamphlet that clearly states mothers’ rights and to distribute it at WIC (the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children), libraries and local clinics. ig Harbor—In Washington State over 8,200 prisoners transition back into the community every year. They encounter many obstacles including: significant debt; stigma of incarceration; limited education; and employers and communities barring them from employment and housing. These roadblocks often thwart their possibility for a second chance and trap them in a cycle of intergenerational poverty, debt, and homelessness, while increasing the likelihood of recidivism.
