OFFSHORING, BACKSHORING OR JUST RELOCATION? After a significant wave of “offshoring” in past decades, the “backshoring” of industrial activities is becoming increasingly frequent. So what’s going on? Offshoring. For those not old enough to remember the advent of offshoring, the first wave of industrial relocation from Europe to China took place between 1965 and 1970 to start serving a newly emerging market – the Far East. Fast-forward 20-25 years and many factories began closing in the West, largely to the benefit of wealth creation in lower-cost economies in Central and Eastern Europe. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1991, former Soviet countries escaped poverty by becoming subcontractors to Germany, and later to other countries in Western Europe. In the same decade, North American studies predicted the displacement of more than 3 million white-collar jobs to India (including more than 500,000 computer scientists). By the early 2000s, China had become “the factory of the world”, while the 2010s saw Brazil develop its domestic market and begin attracting international manufacturers. Labor costs, labor force, skills, industrial real-estate costs, legal and tax benefits, proximity to raw materials, emerging markets… the motivations for offshoring are often diverse, and never simple. In any case, the impact on industrial production has always been significant. And the story didn’t stop there. Backshoring. In recent years, industry has been in reverse. For some, the factories are coming back. For others, the factories are leaving. The reasons are many: reduction of transport costs and delays; new taxes on imports; jobs creation; coordination between teams (design-production-marketing); quality improvements; protection against espionage; skills development; carbon footprint reduction; demand from original customers; and new customs constraints, to list but a few. Here again, a multivariable equation that is neither simple nor basic. However, once the decision is made, it is considered that in 10, 20 or 30 years, the professions have evolved. The know-how has changed. Production techniques and methods have moved on. In fact, this change is becoming a tremendous accelerator for the development of digital factory concepts. A full-scale field of application for new technologies, materials, equipment and software. All these new products and solutions contribute to factory 4.0, and they can be found every day in these columns. Localization. Many factories are now moving closer to the customer to limit costs. Cheap labor or advanced digitization of the plant? In reality, the production method adapts to the market in which the plant is located. So in a way, the manufacturing process is always “localized”! Enjoy reading!

MARKET OVERVIEW
INDUSTRY 4.0 AND IOT EXPAND SMART SENSOR APPLICATIONS Although sensors have been important devices in manufacturing and process plants for many years, today they have a particularly crucial role to play. Thanks to a number of enhanced features, matched by high levels of flexibility and increasingly compact dimensions, the latest smart sensors have become stars in the world of Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT). For users, smart sensor evolution means greater profitability provided by more productive assets. Author: Sílvia Bruin Pereira
T
his thinking is confirmed by Bruno Kim, Marketing Manager at KEYENCE. “A smart solution may bring several benefits; for example, inspection reliability using such a system undeniably becomes superior to that performed by a human operative,” he says. “After all, automated inspection is not subject to human bias, thus ensuring higher repeatability and process speed. Reduced downtime is also of relevance, thanks largely to an evolution in technology that has increased the ruggedness of inspection instruments to suit harsh environmental conditions on the shop floor. As a result, productivity is enhanced. Time and expenditure reductions also appear on the list of benefits, as much higher productivity means less labour costs.”

NEWS MARKET OVERVIEW
Measurement reliability, downtime reduction and faster calibration, asset costs and time savings; all these benefits provided by smart sensors are connected in the opinion of Gustavo Takizawa, Application Engineer at HONEYWELL Sensing and IoT Division. “However, I would say that measurement reliability is the key to smart sensor success,” he states. “Once sensor measurements are reliable, the benefits provided imply less maintenance requirements since it is possible to predict system anomalies and, therefore, increase asset [employee] efficiency and, at the same time, reduce costs.”
Of course, growing competition in worldwide markets calls for technology updates on a yearly basis. “The combined sensor is likely to play a major role in the next few years”, hopes Takizawa. “This kind of sensor is capable of collecting several types of data. An example of a combined sensor is our HumidIcon, which combines temperature and humidity in a single sensor, with a digital output for communication. If a sensor is capable of combining information (pressure, humidity, temperature, position, etc.), equipment space will be more optimized, easing the path from design concept to reality.”
HONEYWELL uses several technologies in its sensors dedicated to the measurement of pressure, humidity, temperature and position, including MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) and ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuits), with the objective of collecting data accurately and reliably. The company’s SMART (Superior Measurement. Accurate. Reliable. Thinking.) Position Sensor, for example, is a highly reliable ASIC using an array of integrated circuits to detect magnetic fields (Hall effect sensors) for enhanced object position sensing.
Similarly, Brichesi reiterates that the growth of Industry 4.0 and the IoT is based on the modernization of sensors and actuators. “According to the ISA-95 standard, sensors and actuators are in level 0, and are responsible for providing reliable information to the analytical and management systems,” he says. “If bad quality information is provided, the performance of analytical technologies and ML [Machine Learning] will be affected.” Brichesi adds that the main applications are in analogic technology (pressure, temperature, distance) which, besides enabling productivity, reduce the cabling costs of field devices. For this reason, Brichesi is convinced that analogue sensors will play a key role, since it is easier to implement this type of sensor than digital counterparts such as distance, colour and condition sensors.
According to ROCKWELL AUTOMATION Product Manager, Maurício César Brichesi Filho, the ROI calculation for smart sensor applications will be based on the previous conditions of the equipment/line where they are installed. For example, factors such as downtime caused by equipment failure, reduced product quality and lower OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) all need to be included in the equation. “Smart sensors are capable of reducing maintenance costs by reducing the equipment/line MTTR [Mean Time To Repair],” he says. “They are capable of providing contextualized information of actual field conditions in real time, so the end user is able to make fast and efficient decisions.” The smart sensor technology of ROCKWELL AUTOMATION is implemented by means of three components: advanced diagnostic sensors (IODD Advanced); IO-Link technology to deliver more data to the control system; and the advanced integration of sensors and controllers, a unique feature in the market. INDUSTRY 4.0 AND IoT
MORE INFORMATION
“With Industry 4.0, the main issue is the potential for establishing communications between the sensor and the information network, plus process automation,” states Kim. “As a particular point of note, we’ve been noticing intense market interest in automatic inspection solutions.” Kim finds it difficult to predict the type of sensor that will command the biggest market share, because that depends on each specific application. “Considering that the market has been looking for inspection automation options, it is possible that sensors related to this kind of application will play a major role from now on,” he says. “Industry 4.0 and the IoT influence and demand very decisive growth in the smart sensor market, since the world needs process optimization, assets and increased profitability,” says Takizawa. “Smart sensors are basically the heart of Industry 4.0 and the IoT; they play a major role in fast, efficient and reliable data acquisition.” 20 | Industry EMEA | July 2019

FUTURE Which industrial segment will have the greatest demand for smart sensors in the near future is considered, for the time being, a guessing game by Kim. “Even if several companies come up with similar products, the way they are made will be, in most cases, quite distinct,” he states. “I believe that all active players in product manufacture are candidates to drive higher demand for such items. The principle which must be considered is that every product submitted for processing is subject to inspection, to make sure it is within quality parameters”, Kim explains. According to Takizawa, agriculture, energy and medicine will be demanding more and more smart sensors as the technology keeps evolving. “A combine harvester, for example, may use position sensors, IMUs [Inertial Measurement Units], pressure, temperature, speed and current sensors, GPS, and several other types,” he says. “Furthermore, these markets demand real-time monitoring of the data provided by such sensors, so that equipment operators can make fast decisions. The medical and energy markets are those demanding the most up-to-date technologies capable of providing high-accuracy data collection, mainly in healthcare, so that a doctor may analyse data from several patients in real time. Additionally, trending this data will increase system reliability and decrease eventual failures.” Brichesi predicts that the industrial segments set to take most advantage of this technology will be food and beverage, automotive and tire manufacturing, as well as general manufacturing. “These segments already use several sensor types across their industrial facilities that are connected to conventional I/O cards,” he explains. “The lack of information to the user caused by this type of set-

up creates serious consequences, such as plant shutdowns and decreased operational reliability. However, by applying the latest sensor technology, they will experience a marked increase in production and reliability.” According to a survey carried out by Markets and Markets, an Indian company specializing in quantified market research, the industrial sensor market was valued at €14.24 billion in 2018 and is likely to reach €19.23 billion by 2023, an annual growth rate of 6.16%. The survey points out that this increase is being propelled by growing demand for Industry 4.0 and IoT strategies, by the surging wireless sensor market and the burgeoning demand for industrial robots. Smart sensors are expected to evolve quickly, particularly in size, performance and cost. As a result, the use of smart sensors will become more widespread as the IoT improves and renders important data transmission safer. This progression will lead further industries to adopt smart sensor technology.

INTERVIEW
PATRIK HUG FROM DELTA ELECTRONICS EMEA: “SUCCESSFUL LOCALIZATION IS THE KEY TO AN EFFECTIVE GLOBALIZATION”
Patrik HUG, Senior Director and Head of Business Development & Product Management of Industrial Automation Business Group, Delta Electronics EMEA: “Smart manufacturing is developing and will continue developing. It’s a major pillar of Delta’s long-term strategy. And our own factories are our first fields of experimentation.”
IPmediaOnline: We could observe that Delta Electronics are developing rapidly and securely over the past decades in EMEA in the industrial automation area. How do you explain such success? Patrik HUG: Delta’s success in EMEA on Industrial Automation is built on a couple of key elements. We focus on providing customer suitable solutions from component to connectivity to management systems. We not only develop the products with industry-leading technology, these products are actually adapted in our own manufacturing facilities as well for field application and durability. Next to that, We also have a strong network with partners all over EMEA, with whom we cooperate with, to provide customers with solutions that fit their needs and requirements that fit in their counties.
MORE INFORMATION
This said, the company has been developing globally, and step by step. Encouraged by its successes in Asia, the company knew that cultures differ from one continent to another.

IPO: You could even say “from one country to another,” in EMEA in particular… PH: Exactly! In the industrial world, doing business is not only bringing technology and providing products at reasonable cost, it firstly is understanding and solving with long term solutions, accompanied with the proper services. Delta has sales offices/R&D centers/factories along with the solid network with partners all over EMEA to take care of the local cultures and needs required from our customers. Delta has always been recognized for its open-mindedness and its capability to listen to customer’s wants and needs. IPO: Delta’s reputation started with the recognized quality of its products, worldwide. But the company is far above products now, right? PH: Definitely! We still develop products. And the excellence of products is essential, of course. But it never makes it all. Especially in the industry. And so, you probably noticed that Delta moved from products to solutions, and from solutions to complete systems. Last November (at the SPS tradeshow in Nuremberg, Germany) Delta launched its new CODESYSbased Motion Control Solution, matched with a Delta SCARA robot. In April this year (at the Hannover Messe) we demonstrated our new DIAStudio integrated engineering software; this one enables an all-in-one platform to select models, to program and set up PLCs, HMIs, drives and more. The goal is for the customers to gain effectiveness and time when developing their machinery systems.
NEWS DIAStudio = DIASelector + DIADesigner + DIAScreen. The integrated engineering software from Delta is an all-in-one system designed to simplify and reduce the time required for the setup process in machinery systems.
IPO: It appears to me that your DIAStudio software is a key step in your strategy, correct? And from products… to solutions… to systems… to integrated systems… How far do you plan to go? And grow? PH: DIAStudio was created to facilitate ease of use across all of Delta’s platforms, however it does not stop here. We plan to continue to enlarge our software capabilities around smart manufacturing, with this our solutions also meet the expectations of the small and midsized OEMs. IPO: Would you say that Delta moved from hardware to software solutions? PH: I would not put it this way. We still develop and manufacture controllers, human-machine interfaces, motors and drives, and many other components and devices which are still critical in consideration of industrial automation, but we are now also capable of delivering solutions and systems, such as robots and even to integrate those systems into complete machinery lines on the plant-floor. I would say we are moving towards “Smart Manufacturing.” This scalability of our solutions is definitely a strength, for us and for our customers as they will grow.
With robust R&D capability and abundant industry experience, Delta offers industrial automation products and solutions that find application in a broad range of industries, including electronics, components, photoelectric panels and food & beverages. We are dedicated to providing innovative and reliable smart, green manufacturing solutions for global customers, keeping our promise of “Automation for a Changing World”.

SHUTTLE SERVICE INTO SPACE WITH THE DREAM CHASER AND THE SWISS THREAD SPECIALIST EICHENBERGER GEWINDE
When three ball screws manage docking on the ISS in orbit. Cold-rolled reliability for the next generation of space shuttles. We move things all over the world and from 2020 in space, too!
MORE INFORMATION
Eichenberger’s thread drives make it possible In 2015, a project was launched in Burg with the globally leading supplier of products to the aerospace industry. The goal of this collaboration is to execute docking manoeuvres during a space rendezvous between the ISS and the innovative, re-useable space glider “Dream Chaser” from 2020. The docking unit, which is “300% safe” and functional, is the integral part. The centre piece inside this docking system consists of three robust, corrosion-resistant ball screws with end cap ball return, Carry Type KGE, 16 x 16. Reliability is the highest priority for the space shuttle service. Its robustness and resilience in the harsh, unfavourable orbit environment plays an essential part. Meticulous accuracy is also vital.
Shuttle service into space with the Dream Chaser The new space shuttle will blast off inside the nose of the Atlas V launch vehicle to go into near-earth orbit. It can fly with or without a crew and land at any conventional airport. There is room for up to seven astronauts in the space glider. The “Dream Chaser” could, for example, be used as a research platform, to transport people or freight into space or to actively remove space junk from orbit. Using the docking unit in which Eichenberger’s ball screw CARRY guarantees a precise, safe docking procedure, the Dream Chaser will be able to dock on the ISS, the occupied station in orbit. At a speed of 28,800 kilometres per hour, the flying laboratory only needs 92 minutes in zero gravity to surround the earth. Astronauts living and working in the station therefore experience 16 sun rises and sun sets every day. The challenge of aerospace–extreme conditions The challenge of aerospace–extreme conditions The first major hurdle after the strenuous rocket launch with extreme acceleration and vibrations, is the vacuum. It has an effect on everything that is liquid or that can evaporate. This also includes lubricants. Grease that is solid on earth, evaporates in a vacuum. That is why mobile parts must be

NEWS
able to comply with maximum service life requirements, even without lubrication. Temperature extremes are also challenging. The temperature of the components in orbit depends on the material that faces the sun. - 50 °C to + 90 °C is expected on the docking station. Additionally, ultraviolet light, X-rays, particles with a high energy charge and atmospheric atoms have an impact on the material which becomes more prone to corrosion. Eichenberger is proving that the extraordinary characteristics of the Inox ball screw CARRY, with integrated high-performance plastic in the ball return, will withstand the aggressive environment of space, ensuring function as well as resisting corrosion and wear.
The perfect partner from single-unit production to series production The wheel of mechanical systems cannot be re-discovered. Yet, it is still Eichenberger’s claim to keep testing the limits of cold-rolled ball screws. Competency goes beyond knowledge. Or to put it another way: competency is the skill of solving problems. Each screw that is developed from scratch is included in the thread rolling range. Over the decades, this has generated a wide selection of ball screws and lead screws. Designers always try to start with a standard nut or screw, then adapt these elements to the application-specific requirements. This has a significant price advantage. The challenge for the designers in the high-price country of Switzerland is to create outstanding added technological value in a competitive product in line with the market. Technological know-how, research and development are just as necessary as a willingness to change and mastery of efficient production procedures.
MORE INFORMATION
A close look at competency, what makes the ball screw Carry so resilient and the ideal functional element for this application? Cold-rolling threads creates very precise geometries with a high surface quality. As opposed to grinding, milling or turning, during milling, the material’s longitudinal fibres are not cut but diverted. The result is a compressed and extremely resilient surface which has been rolled smooth. This is essential for the long service life of a screw. Roughness values around Rz 1.0 on the edges of the thread are also excellent advantages. In steel ball bearings, the rolling friction co-efficient is about 0.0013 compared with sliding friction of steel on steel (lubricated) of 0.1 to 0.05. The excellent sliding properties of cold-rolled ball screws ensure minimal friction and provide little scope for contamination. The quiet rolling of the balls is therefore very easy.
Convincing technology HARD-INOX® P treatment Thanks to the innovative Hard-Inox® P treatment, the highest requirements concerning surface hardness and corrosion resistance of stainless steel were fulfilled. During this process, the performance of the lateral structure of corrosion-resistant steel is significantly increased, thanks to high-temperature nitriding (surface hardness reaches 550 to 750 HV with a hardness penetration depth of 0.1 to 1.0 mm.) The great advantage lies in the increase in service life and value retention. The art is to master warpage and changes in dimensions despite the high-temperature treatment. The perfect combination of hardness and precision has to be achieved.

for the actuators of the landing gear, the wing flaps and stabilizers, the flight controls and motor electronics.” A proven technology The hermeticity between the customer’s equipment and the SOURIAU connector is located at two points. The first point is where the connector is attached to the equipment; the second is situated between the contacts and the shell. In the manufacturing process for the hermetic connectors, the traditional insulator is replaced by an insulator made of glass. A sintered wafer in the format of the shell and matching the contact arrangement is placed in an autoclave and melted at a temperature of 1000 °C. Under the effect of the heating and cooling cycles, the glass retracts and creates total hermeticity between the shell and each contact.

VERLINDE ELECTRIC HOIST PROVIDES VITAL FALL PREVENTION FOR VALKYRIE HUMANOID ROBOT
VERLINDE electric hoist technology is providing an essential fall-arrest mechanism for the groundbreaking NASA Valkyrie humanoid robot being tested by researchers at the University of Edinburgh in the UK.
S
tanding at 1.8m tall, Vakyrie walks on two legs, like a human. However, due to the inherent added value already invested in the robot, a fall could have disastrous consequences with regard to costs and project delays. A VERLINDE electric hoist has therefore been strategically positioned above Valkyrie to prevent any damage should the robot take an unexpected tumble.
MORE INFORMATION
The NASA Valkyrie is one of the most advanced robots in the world, and will enable breakthroughs in humanoid control, motion planning and perception. Named Valkyrie after the female spirits of Norse mythology, experts are seeking to improve the physical and computational abilities of the 125Â kg robot. It is hoped that Valkyrie will one day take part in a space mission to Mars.
20 | Industry EMEA | July 2019
32
From the outset, the humanoid robot has been able to walk on two legs and perform basic movements, such as holding and manipulating objects. However, PhD students and researchers from the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics are now working to help the robot make sense of its environment, and improve manoeuvrability. Work is also focusing on further developing the robot’s ability to interact closely and safely with humans and other machines. Of course, falls go hand-in-hand with this type of research, which is why the University of Edinburgh wanted to invest in a suitable safety hoist. Putting the contract out to tender, it was won by Hoist UK, distributor of VERLINDE electric hoists. The Hoist UK team had to work in close association with the University of Edinburgh and two other key contractors on this unique project. Staff at the university had a very specific plan of what was required for Valkyrie, which involved a double-girder overhead crane running the 13.5m length of the lab space with a 6.5m span bridge. Such a design would allow Valkyrie the freedom to perform a variety of tests around the lab while permitting the robot to maintain a standing position in the event of a failure or fall.
NEWS
Based on the requirements set out by the university, the Hoist UK team designed, tested and installed a radiocontrolled double-girder crane system. Importantly, a VERLINDE EUROCHAIN VR5 series electric chain hoist was fitted to the 6.5m span bridge. The bridge and the hoist were rated with a safe working load of 500kg (four times the weight of the robot). As a result of being hung from the VERLINDE EUROCHAIN hoist, Valkyrie would stay upright whenever a test movement failure might cause her to fall. Two radio controlled motorized crane bridges were fitted to the runways, one for immediate use and the second to accommodate future expansions of the project. The motorized system moves independently of Valkyrie, providing the robot with the ability to move safely around the lab. Radio control also allows the operator to move the VERLINDE hoist, giving Valkyrie free movement in the working area, from a safe distance. The system was installed to the underside of the laboratory’s existing concrete ceiling.
Valkyrie is the only robot of its type in Europe, and one of just three prototypes in the world. NASA hopes to equip Valkyrie to go to Mars many years before astronauts are able to make the journey, for pre-deployment tasks and to maintain assets. Valkyrie’s human-like shape is designed to enable it to work alongside people or carry out high-risk tasks in place of people. The robot a biped for a good reason, predominantly because bipeds are adept at moving in the same space designed for humans. Such robots are very good at squeezing through narrow spaces, climbing steps and tackling variable footholds, for example. As a project, Valkyrie is supported by the UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, while work is conducted at the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics as a joint initiative between the University of Edinburgh and HeriotWatt University.
MORE INFORMATION
Vladimir Ivan, Research Associate at the University of Edinburgh, says: “Working with Valkyrie is not a case of if it falls down, but when. We are pushing the robot to its limits in a controlled environment so that it is safer and more robust when it gets deployed outside of the lab. Hoist UK helped provide a valuable safety solution to allow our ongoing testing with the robot in a safe environment. We’re really pleased with the result and look forward to working with them in the future when we expand the program further.”
Paul Jordan, Director at Hoist UK, adds: “Being a part of a program that will one day lead to people travelling to Mars was very exciting. Our team really enjoyed building a relationship with the robotics department at the University of Edinburgh. We’re very proud of the work we’ve done there, and excited to see what becomes of it in the future.”

epending on the version, the BFT sensors provide PNP switching outputs, analog signals 0...10V/4...20mA or work as a PT1000 sensor. They are simple to install by threading into the process using a standard process connection with G–and NPT threads. Integrating them requires just a 4-pin M12 plug on the sensor.
MORE INFORMATION
Continuous monitoring of process media on machines and equipment contributes greatly to process security. Values that need to be maintained are pressure, level and temperature. When for example in a hydraulic system you need to monitor the temperature of the hydraulic fluid, you can do this reliably using our BFT media-contacting temperature sensors. Monitoring the temperature within the hydraulic loop guarantees correct fluid viscosity and thereby the best performance of a machine. Critical process conditions such as a temperature limit can be controlled directly via the switching output. An analog output provides continuous measurement results. The BFT temperature sensors also stand out when it comes to monitoring the cooling water, lubricants and compressed air, making them ideal for a variety of applications. www.balluff.com

TRI-AXIS INERTIAL MEASUREMENT GOES BELOW GROUND: TAMAGAWA’S IMUS USED FOR NOVEL SUBTERRANEAN DUCT AND BOREHOLE CURVATURE MEASUREMENT INSTRUMENT
Combining its gyro-equipped inertial measurement units (IMUs) and including a high definition camera and additional sensors, Tamagawa Seiki’s TUG-NAVI “Under Ground Navigator” enables highly precise curvature and inner diameter measurement plus visual inspection for subterranean ducts and boreholes.
T
he sensor and motion control component designer and manufacturer, represented in the UK by Mclennan, developed the novel instrument in collaboration a Korean utilities infrastructure company to reduce time and costs for replacing and maintaining old and dimensionally unpredictable buried cable networks.
MORE INFORMATION
With buried duct and borehole direction-finding typically troublesome to assess, especially for older installations (due to physical movement or where original duct plans may be inaccurate), the TUG-NAVI obtains precise trajectory information about the duct-hole curvature that cannot be seen above ground. Suitable for vertical and horizontal boreholes, the instrument has been designed for use in space restricted ducts down to just 35 mm in diameter and its durable construction is built to withstand water and dirt ingress. Various models are available as single or triple stages, normally supplied with a protective cage – all with an integral HD camera and sensors which typically include a MEMS gyro and 3-axis accelerometer. An integral transmitter relays 3D positional information to a PC with supplied software that interprets the measured trajectory in terms of attitude and azimuth data. speed is measured via a winding/thrusting drum that is used to propel the TUG-NAVI through the bore hole – manual and motorised versions are available depending upon the job in hand. The actual duct diameter is also measured by a separate Tamagawa sensor to ensure that new cabling can be accommodated. The camera allows foreign material and obstructions to be viewed for straightforward extraction, and may be triggered at any time during the measurement process. Overall the time and cost savings for the customer far outweighed alternative methods which included separate sensor and camera systems for each operation to determine curvature measurement, foreign material removal and inner diameter measurement. In addition to its use on electrical power cable networks, the TUG-NAVI can be applied to water, sewerage, telecoms, gas and other subterranean pipeline systems for the verification of new pipe lines or repair and maintenance work. Tamagawa’s gyro-equipped IMUs have been developed primarily for use in autonomous vehicles for dynamic six-degree of freedom measurement. A wide choice of

packaging and feature styles include low cost pitch, yaw and roll measurement sensors which might be used for straightforward driver evaluation to sophisticated IMUs with integral GPS receivers that can be part of complete dead reckoning systems for autonomous vehicles – ranging from cars and trucks to agricultural machinery. However, the TUG-NAVI Under Ground Navigator represents just one of a comprehensive range of industrial application for Tamagawa IMUs. Due to their integrated gyro and accelerometer sensors, IMUs can provide certain advantages over other sensor types where complete orientation feedback and movement is essential or can be utilised to enhance performance, improve productivity or increase safety.
Mclennan works closely with Tamagawa and other selected distribution partners. And with its own design and production capability is able to provide motion control based solutions that include IMUs as part of servo motor and/or stepper motor based integrated automation systems that are complete with motion software, fieldbus interfacing, gear units, positioning mechanics and other power transmission components. Such applications include robotics where an IMU might detect minute deflections in end effectors to improve precision and increase throughput. IMU’s are also used to detect micro-vibration more effectively than individual accelerometers in machine tools, with the benefit of predictive maintenance for improved machine availability. Crane and hoist safety applications can benefit with superior X-Y axis deflection sensing over camera systems by directly detecting angular velocity and acceleration. Heavy construction vehicles use IMU’s for more precise attitude measurement, enhancing safe tilt prevention. Medical applications that augment patient recovery can also be achieved with IMUs used for physiotherapy and
rehabilitation–monitoring patient body movement over time through precise three-dimensional measurement of angular and linear position with acceleration, velocity and attitude.

KENNAMETAL INTRODUCES ITS MILL 4-12KT, THE NEXT GENERATION OF TANGENTIAL SHOULDER MILLING
Mill 4-12KT has tangentially mounted inserts with four cutting edges per insert for reduced tooling costs.
New tangential shoulder mill features an innovative triangular-shaped margin design providing cutting edges with exceptional strength.
K
ennametal today announced its new Mill 4-12KT, the next generation of tangential shoulder mills, producing high quality floor surface finishes for nearly all steel and cast iron applications. “The Mill 4-12KT uses15% lower cutting forces, an important consideration with today’s lighter duty, 40-taper machine tools,” said Tim Marshall, Senior Global Product Manager. “That allows customers to feed faster without putting additional stress on the spindle. And in long overhang situations or where the part fixturing is less than optimal, lower forces equate to less chatter, reduced edge chipping, and smoother surface finishes.”
MORE INFORMATION
Mill 4-12KT has tangentially mounted inserts with four cutting edges per insert for reduced tooling costs. Seven corner radii from 0.016” (0.4 mm) to 0.122” (3.1 mm) are available, along with coolant-through, medium and coarse pitch cutter bodies 2” (50mm) to 8” (200mm) in diameter. With an axial depth of cut range from 0.019” to 0.472” (0.5 to 12mm), Mill 4-12KT covers most shoulder milling applications. 20 | Industry EMEA | July 2019

Multiple factors contribute to significant performance increases, even in aggressive cutting conditions: The tangential, “on-edge” insert design also allows the insert to take advantage of the strength of the carbide thickness more so than radially mounted inserts found on traditional milling cutters. A shallow pocket design, allows the core size of the cutter body to be very robust. The axial and radial seating surface designs provide exceptional stability. The Mill 4-12KT is the perfect complement to Kennametal’s existing shoulder milling portfolio. This includes the Mill 4-11 and Mill 4-15, cutters known for their ability to generate shoulders with high quality wall surface finishes. www.kennametal.com

PLANT SAFETY
“SAFETY AT WORK – HOW CAN MACHINE TOOLS AND SYSTEMS OPERATE SAFELY AND EFFICIENTLY?”
Safety function and high-quality measurement data output in one device.
For a while now, sensors are not only a matter of process control – today one of their primary tasks is to link processes together. With its extensive range of Safety@work products, Leuze electronic optimizes collaboration between man and machine: sensor and control systems, like those of the RSL 400 safety laser scanner, can be integrated intelligently into the processes performed by machines and safeguard these machines in a reliable and tamperproof manner. At the same time, the processes are structured efficiently and cost-effectively.

Machining work pieces In machining centers, parts of various materials are machined, turned, and drilled. The prerequisite for processing work pieces in complex machining centers with a high degree of precision is having the right tool available for each work step. In addition to checking whether the tool is present and identifying it, the drill or milling cutter must also be monitored for tool breakage. Inductive switches or camera-based code readers clearly identify whether the correct tool is mounted for the respective processing step. Focused laser photoelectric sensors can – thanks to their very small light spot – reliably check whether even the smallest drills or milling cutters are intact.
Increased level of automation Industrial robots, which can perform a large number of swivel and gripping movements in a very short period of time, are often used for automated loading and unloading of machine tools. Their movement zones must be reliably protected against access over a large area. Before a robot picks up a part, the part must be uniquely identified to ensure that the correct processing step is carried out. This is done using the DCR 200i camera-based code reader. The DCR 200i is a reader used to detect and identify Data Matrix codes. The fast imager, integrated high-performance LED illumination, as well as high resolution in combination with a very high depth of field guarantee reliable decoding, even with fast processes and high object speeds. Safety-related monitoring of machines and systems Safety laser scanners such as the RSL 400 from Leuze electronic are used for the safety-related monitoring of areas in and around machines and systems. operating range, robust operation and simple handling are crucial here. The simultaneous monitoring of four protective fields means the working area can be split up and the speed safely reduced. In future, an important aspect in addition to the automated loading and unloading of machine tools will above all be the linking together of multiple machine tools in combination with automated production processes. This includes, for example, storage systems that optimize material flow, but also a wide variety of transport equipment such as linear gantries, pallet handling systems and conveyor systems, which all increase the level of automation considerably. For the safeguarding of large access points, safety laser scanners with vertical alignment of the protective field are used, e.g. to detect vehicles and persons.
A further option is safeguarding using multiple light beam safety devices. These devices provide a greater operating range and therefore an efficient solution for safeguarding access points over long distances of up to 70 meters – even “around the corner” solutions with multiple mirror columns
Different safeguarding options are available depending on the respective requirements and application. A comprehensive range of products helps in choosing the best possible solutions to ensure safety at work and also in optimizing collaboration between man and machine. In-house logistics with automated guided vehicles (AGVs) An AGV, which moves autonomously and flexibly in space, transports blanks into the working area of the robot or machine tool. On completion of the production process, the machined work pieces are collected again. The transportation path of the AGVs must be safeguarded with safety sensors which monitor the presence of persons and objects. An important consideration here is the flexible adaptation of the protective fields to the movement situation and the different loads. In the case of the triangulation principle, an AGV must be equipped with two different scanners. Unlike the contour navigation principle, just one scanner is needed for safeguarding and navigation. This means that safeguarding and data capture for navigation requires one single safety laser scanner. In other words, the scanner simultaneously also provides

PROFINET Gateway Seamlessly Integrates Device and Process Data.
W
ith the new LB PROFINET gateway, Pepperl+Fuchs is connecting LB remote I/O systems to the PROFINET world. End-to-end communication also ensures optimal use of existing intelligence in the field, representing a crucial step toward making plants suitable for future requirements and Industry 4.0.
www.pepperl-fuchs.com MORE INFORMATION
In early 2019, Pepperl+Fuchs will launch the new LB PROFINET gateway, delivering not only conventional PROFINET functionality but also full access to all connected HART devices. In practical terms, this will give users access to HART auxiliary variables as a second measuring value in addition to process variables. Furthermore, the diagnostic data from the field devices can be read out via HART IP, thus significantly increasing transparency and plant availability. The new gateway also offers maximum flexibility since different protocols can run via the same cordset (e.g., PROFINET and HART IP), and, of course, it represents a high-performance solution: up to 80 field devices can be connected to a fully occupied remote I/O system. These devices communicate without a time delay.
Maximum Safety and Easy Handling Another highlight of the gateway is the intelligent redundancy concept. An integrated switch ensures the functionality of the network at all times based on the medium redundancy protocol (MRP). If a line fails, the ring network is reconfigured to send the data packets via the alternative route. Since the potential for hazards increases as a result of big data being used alongside increased networking of industrial plants, the new PROFINET gateway also fulfills the appropriate safety requirements. The large display, the largest available on the market for this device type, is another highlight that makes the new gateway from Pepperl+Fuchs easy to use. The device status and additional diagnostic data can be read at a glance via RGB LEDs.

Digitization along the entire value chain and data consistency across all processes and systems – these are the prerequisites for automating processes in control engineering and panel building. Yet what is the current degree of digitization in the industry? Where can potential still be found? Many companies just don’t know where to start. Working methods analysed using benchmarks EPLAN can help in this area: A new software-based method utilizes a field study of 150 companies worldwide to determine the optimization potential that is easy to achieve in close cooperation with EPLAN and Rittal as regards machines, software and consulting. A welcome ancillary effect of this implementation is a higher degree of digitization in manufacturing and the automation of repetitive tasks. “The Panel Building Automation Matrix (PAM) is a tool we’ve developed to analyse a company’s working methods in control engineering and panel building almost at the push of a button that shows unused potential in manufacturing processes,” says EPLAN Managing Director Haluk Menderes.
NEWS Eplan presents the “Panel Building Automation Matrix” (PAM), based on a field study of 150 companies including defined case studies.
PAM offers an analysis and evaluation of the current workflow for manufacturing electric control cabinets as regards profitability and efficiency. The evaluation includes recommendations for optimization, their implementation and the required investments. What’s interesting for customers are listings of exact time savings in a variety of areas within the workflow – including wiring, device labeling or in NC production. A precise ROI analysis provides information on when for instance an investment in software pays for itself.
Study demonstrates: Digital instead of manual wiring The average time an electrical technician requires to install an electrical connection from the schematic as an actual connection in the control cabinet is 4.5 minutes. Around 31 per cent of the time required is spent on purely preparatory tasks – including reading the schematic and finding the sources and targets. Another 13 per cent of the work time is invested in preparing the wires – estimating wire lengths as an example. The remaining 56 per cent of the work goes into the actual wiring: cutting to length, installing the cable lug, crimping, routing. It’s more the rule than the exception that the technician must scroll through the schematic a number of times during the wiring process to gather the necessary information and supplement it where required. This leads to about a third of the work time lost to reading and specialist interpretation of the documents. To be frank, this can be done much better – namely digitally! The system of choice here is EPLAN Smart Wiring, in which the data are based on a digital prototype that has already been verified and thus only allows correct results.

Professional advice – valid results EPLAN has been using PAM globally since early May 2019 and the feedback from the first customers in the US is enthusiastic. “With PAM, EPLAN has combined its decades of expertise in panel building into a viable, personalized ROI plan for our workshop,” says A&E Engineering President Wright Sullivan. Jacob Wilson, Director of Engineering, Sales and Development at Design Ready Controls, says: “PAM was able to exactly reproduce our current operations and manufacturing times after just a twenty-minute evaluation.” That naturally motivates EPLAN and Rittal to add additional process steps to the analysis in the future. Plans include integrating additional software tools from Rittal – as well as an ROI review for purchasing the new Rittal Wire Terminal for automating wiring, for instance, or the fully automatic Perforex machining center. The PAM analysis is carried out by the sales department and is naturally free of charge
and does not depend on the purchase of EPLAN or Rittal products.
The declared goal: Integrated processes By coupling engineering and production, EPLAN and Rittal create perfectly coordinated combinations of software solutions, systems technology, machines and services. The added value is obvious: Integrated solutions also 20 | Industry EMEA | July 2019

The increasing complexity of control technology and its components, customer desires for individualization, national and international standards, last-minute changes and ever tighter delivery deadlines are putting enormous cost pressures on panel building. Instead of a future that relies on file folders with operating equipment lists, assembly plans and schematics as the central manufacturing documents, the value creating processes in control engineering and panel building must be made faster, more economical and more precise. This requires a change in thinking in this sector, a sector that has mainly remained somewhat bound by tradition. FOR LONGER CHAIN SERVICE LIFE: RELUBRICATE – AND PREVENT WEAR
The right relubrication for extended chain life.
Valuable tips on the correct use of lubricants – from iwis, your specialist supplier of precision chain systems.
F
or a chain to have a long service life without wearrelated loss of performance, it needs to be serviced and lubricated regularly.
Maintenance and lubrication intervals should be strictly adhered to: about two thirds of all chain failures can be prevented by suitable relubrication, so selecting the right (re)lubricant is the most important factor in guaranteeing a long service for the chain, since the individual links of a chain act as bearings while the constantly oscillating chain is in operation. Inadequate lubrication and additional contamination can cause a reduction of chain performance to as little as 20% of its full potential, thereby reducing service life more than any other influencing factors.
iwis antriebssysteme produces precision roller and conveyor chains for industrial applications in the field of general machine engineering, plant engineering, the packaging, printing and food industries and conveyor technology. In recent years, the recognised chain specialist has conducted intensive research into solutions that prolong chain service life, as well as developing its own range of lubricants. On the solid basis of countless trials on specially designed test apparatus and close cooperation with reputable lubricant manufacturers, iwis is a reliable expert partner for all aspects of chain lubrication. 35% of new installed nodes. The dominant fieldbus is still PROFIBUS with 10% of the total world market, followed by CC-Link at 6% and Modbus-RTU at 5%.
Still a strong drive for wireless solutions Wireless technologies are also growing steadily by 30% (32) and accounts for 6% (6) of the total market. Within Wireless, WLAN is the most popular technology, followed by Bluetooth. “Wireless is increasingly being used by machine builders and system integrators to realize new, innovative
Regional network variations In Europe and the Middle East, EtherNet/IP and PROFINET are leading and PROFIBUS is still widely used. Other popular networks are EtherCAT and Ethernet POWERLINK. The US market is dominated by the CIP networks, with a clear movement towards EtherNet/IP. EtherCAT is continuing to gain market share. In Asia, no network stands out as truly market-leading, but PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, PROFIBUS, EtherCAT, Modbus and CC-Link are widely used, with the Ethernet version CC-Link IE Field also gaining traction. Scope: The study includes HMS’ estimation for 2019 based on number of new installed nodes in 2018 within Factory Automation. A node is defined as a machine or device connected to an industrial network. The presented figures represent HMS’ consolidated view, taking into account insights from colleagues in the industry, our own sales statistics and overall perception of the market.

Reflections on the industrial Ethernet growth and the fieldbus decline “The transition to industrial Ethernet continues and is driven by the need for high performance and the need for integration between factory installations and IT-systems/ IIoT applications,” says Anders Hansson, Chief Marketing Officer at HMS. “For the first time we see that traditional fieldbuses actually decline in terms of new installed nodes. When it comes to industrial Ethernet, we see good growth for many networks – for the established Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, EtherCAT, POWERLINK and Modbus-TCP, as well as for the networks grouped in the ‘other Ethernet’ category. This fragmented Ethernet picture is very interesting, and it goes to prove that industrial Ethernet never standardized on one network as many predicted when the Ethernet-based networks first evolved in the 1990s. Just like the fieldbuses, the various Ethernet networks serve different purposes depending on industrial application.”
automation architectures. Users can reduce cabling and create new solutions for connectivity and control” says Anders Hansson. “We also see increased activities globally around cellular technologies (e.g. Private LTE/5G networks) as enablers for Smart and Flexible Manufacturing in factories.”

CAMILLE BAUER METRAWATT AG SETS A NEW STANDARD FOR CREATING MAINS QUALITY COMPLIANCE REPORTS, CONVENIENTLY AND WITHOUT EXPENSIVE SOFTWARE
A revolutionary new idea from Camille Bauer Metrawatt AG–the instrumentation specialist for power quality analysis. The function is easy to use and is called PQ EasyReporting. An innovation that allows you to generate either standard-compliant or user-specific statistical reports directly from the measurement instrument. All this can be done completely autonomously without using proprietary software which sometimes makes life complicated for both users and IT departments.

he issue of power quality is frequently dealt with in isolation from other issues such as performance monitoring, load regulation, energy management or energy automation. However, because both mains supplies and consumers are increasingly affected by noise levels, it is essential to have a view of the total context. This means that power grid operators and increasingly also major consumers are faced with a difficult problem: this applies to all applications, no matter how different they are. Often, each one has a different software solution for performing measurements and ratings. Achieving compatibility between the various software solutions is frequently very difficult and expensive. And in some case it is even impossible. So, to solve this Camille Bauer Metrawatt has provided an ingenious solution. PQ EasyReporting.
The underlying technical innovation The PQ3000 and PQ5000 mains quality measurement devices have a web-based feature for generating power quality reports directly from the measurement device. Standardised reports in PDF format are generated and made available to the user. Statistical standards according to EN50160, IEC61000-2-2, IEC61000-2-4 and IEC610002-12 can be selected directly on the instrument or externally via a web browser. It is also possible to enter and select individual limiting values. The time periods for the statistical evaluation is flexibly adjustable by the user, but should not be less than 7 days. The scope of the reports can be selected from three levels: a compliance summary, an overview with detailed statistics and an overview with both detailed statistics and a summary of events. Customers can also generate reports using their own company logo. The benefits When upgrading or installing new equipment, or when performing ad hoc measurements, there is no need to

purchase or upgrade expensive software solutions. PQ EasyReporting offers a simple method of generating compliance reports at any time without the need for additional software. It is very easy to use and it saves an enormous amount of time and money. And the guarantee that compliance reports contain accurate data according to the IEC61000-4-x test and measurement procedure is provided by Camille Bauer Metrawatt’s unique metrological certification according to IEC62586-2. This is virtually equivalent to having the measurement device officially calibrated for compliance with the relevant standards. It couldn´t be more secure and simple! www.camillebauer.com
