4JAMIE MARSHALL JOINS AS CHIEF TECHNICAL OFFICER, PAUL TIDY AS CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER AND PAUL WINSTANLEY, HEAD OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT. Jamie Marshall takes responsibility for underwriting, pricing and portfolio governance and joins from Mercer Marsh Benefits where he was a Principal and Head of Actuarial in the Accident & Health practice. Jamie has a wealth of experience, including 13 years of pricing and modelling within the healthcare benefits sector. Before Mercer, Jamie held actuarial roles with Unum, RoyalSun Alliance and Protea Life, and is currently the chairman of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries Health and Care board. Paul Tidy will lead the development of GGH’s operational and service capabilities focusing on operations, info systems, transformation, insurance and health regulations and compliance. Paul joins from Bupa Global where he spent 19 years in a variety of roles including Head of Operational
Development in the UK and Head of Customer Service Strategy. Before Bupa, Paul worked for Norwich Union (Aviva) and was commissioned in the UK Army. Paul Winstanley joins to lead and build the global business development function across EMEA and Asia. Having previously been Head of Global Corporate at BUPA Global, Paul comes with a proven track record of intermediated sales to the corporate sector. “We are delighted to welcome such an experienced team to GGH as we look to rapidly develop the business across key expatriate locations. Jamie Marshall: I have considerable actuarial and healthcare experience, both in the UK and International markets, and am currently Chair the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries Health and Care Board. Having recently worked for Mercer Marsh Benefits, I understand the intermediary perspective, which will help GGH to continually shape its proposition and provide appropriate support to our partners. My previous employers include Royal SunAlliance, Unum and Mercer GGH has recently launched a new product – what does that offer over and above the rest of the market? Jamie Marshall: The product is modular in design so clients can choose the out-patient options
they wish to add to the core product benefits. They can then select from a range of additional benefit options to add to these two modules, including such things as maternity, dental and optical care. Benefit limits can also be changed, adding even more flexibility to the product. The premium rating model uses the groups’ average age to create a single adult and child rating structure. This means the premiums are very simple to understand and these are the rates that will apply to any new members joining the group during the policy period. This clarifies costs and simplifies the budgeting process for clients. It also smooths the premiums from large age band increases at renewal, making it much easier for the client to understand. We provide an end-to-end service that is supported by a
global network of medical providers and the latest technology to enhance member experience. Customers and their employees also benefit from our relationship with Europ Assistance, a 100% owned Generali company, who provide assistance support wherever members are in the world. What interests do you have outside of insurance? Jamie Marshall: I “enjoy” marathon running and try to run three or four a year - although not as fast as I would like! I’m a Scotland rugby supporter and like to spend time with my family / ferrying teenagers around and travelling when the opportunity presents itself. l

When I came to France from Poland in 1989 I saw what great opportunities there were for Eastern European countries and this really spurred me on as a Polish national. Allocating individuals within our Medical Services and Claims teams to specific geographical regions allows us to eliminate unnecessary or excessive charges. These individuals are generally natives of the region they are assigned to, putting them in an ideal position to review and challenge the treatment path and costs proposed. We are big believers in the idea that prevention is better than cure and recognise the long-term cost containment benefits of preventative treatment.

By their very nature, international health insurance plans are designed specifically for expats. With their globally mobile lifestyles, iPMI without a doubt offers the best and most comprehensive cover for international workforces, individuals and their families. Whilst local schemes do of course have an important and often crucial role to play, they are, as the name suggests, designed for the local population. By definition, local health insurance offers cover in a single country or region only and is offered in line with local practices and norms. Therefore access is confined to local hospitals or medical facilities, the standards of which can vary hugely across the world. Local health insurance frameworks cannot provide the same level of cover and service
as an expat might expect to receive at home and when considering the options, it’s important to remember that local policies are unlikely to offer cover to expats making a trip back home or to another country. In addition, not all expats are eligible for local cover by virtue of their citizenship. For me therefore, there really is only one option for expats and that’s the option that understands the needs and behaviours of this very specific segment of society - iPMI. Our clients are made up of multinationals operating across countries and continents and that are representative of a multitude of sectors; we have clients operating in challenging or remote regions and we insure truly international work forces and individuals, all of whom have a diverse range of needs.

My advice is to look at all health insurance options but ultimately, you want to choose a provider who you can trust when there is a problem and that can offer you access to the best healthcare, wherever you are in the world. Following are some specifics on Anthem MAPD plans that will be available for the Annual Election Period, or AEP, which began Oct. 15 and continues through Dec. 7. Plans are effective Jan. 1, 2016. COVERAGE FOR THYROID AND PANCREAS MOLECULAR DIAGNOSTIC TESTS Friday, 14 August 2015
4MOLECULAR DIAGNOSTIC TESTS NOW COVERED BY ONE OF THE LARGEST INDEPENDENT BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD PLANS. Interpace Diagnostics announced that both the ThyGenX™ Thyroid Oncogene Panel and ThyraMIR™ Thyroid miRNA Classifier, its molecular diagnostic tests for indeterminate thyroid nodules, are now covered by one of the largest independent Blue Cross Blue Shield plans that insures 3.3 million lives. This medical policy update, covering both ThyGenX and ThyraMIR, represents the first large commercial plan to cover ThyraMIR, a novel microRNA gene expression classifier launched earlier this year. Furthermore, it follows the recent announcement of coverage by Aetna for ThyGenX, Interpace Diagnostics’ genetic mutation panel used to improve risk stratification and surgical decision-making when standard cytopathology does not provide a clear diagnosis of thyroid cancer. The combination of all plans, including Medicare coverage of ThyGenX, represents a total of 80 million covered lives for Interpace Diagnostics’ molecular thyroid diagnostic tests. Coverage of PancraGen™, Interpace Diagnostics’ test for pancreatic cyst cancer risk stratification, was also recently extended to an additional 1.3 million lives by a contracted top national plan,
bringing this plan’s total covered lives for PancraGen to 10 million. Additionally, one of the country’s largest Blue Cross Blue Shield plans renewed PancraGen contract coverage for their 5.9 million lives. These plans recognize the value in identifying patients at risk of progression to pancreatic cancer and those at a lower risk with a high degree of accuracy, by ensuring their members have access to this technology. The combination of all plans, including Medicare coverage of PancraGen, represents over 70 million covered lives for this molecular test. “Coverage by these additional plans provides further validation of our tests’ value to their members,” said Nancy Lurker, CEO of PDI, Inc. She adds, “We continue to advance discussions with other plans to increase coverage for our tests, efforts which will both benefit patients and further accelerate the current growth taking place at Interpace Diagnostics, our molecular diagnostics business.” l

Zurich has announced the launch of Zurich FlexiCare Group Medical Insurance Plan, the first of its kind where employees can choose their own medical coverage and redeem different wellness items. It is a competitively priced group medical plan designed specifically to help employers, especially SMEs with limited resources retain talents, which can be managed using the “Zurich HK” App. In December 2014, Zurich appointed an independent research agency, GFK, to conduct research surveying a total of 813 SME employers and employees (501 employees and 312 employers) with the following objectives: • To understand how to enhance enterprise profitability; • To understand mutual expectation between Employers & Employees. KEY FINDINGS: 64% of employers and 71% of employees consider loyal employees the key driver of business growth. The market research shows that 62% of
employer are “satisfactory” to “very satisfactory” towards their employee, which means the satisfaction level of employers towards employees scores 62, while the 55% of employees either “have sense of belonging” to “have very strong sense of belonging” towards their employer, which means sense of belonging of employees towards the company scores 55. The rapport index calculated from the gap is 7, which reveals that the satisfaction level between Hong Kong employers and employees towards each other has certain degree of disparity, with space for improvement for relationships between both sides.
