1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 CONTENTS OF THIS RESOURCE BUNDLE This Resource Bundle is a one-stop shop in relation to preparing for the return to school for Summer Provision 2020. The Bundle will contain templates relating to the safe return to school for pupils and staff and will be in compliance with the Government’s “Return to Work Safely Protocol”. This bundle contains the following documents: • • • • • • •

1.2 HOW TO USE THIS RESOURCE BUNDLE The Resource Bundle allows school leaders see an overview of the Templates and to download them as required. They are downloadable in MS Word format and therefore easily adapted to the requirements of the individual school
1.3 MAKING IT EASY While at first glance, using the templates might seem like a daunting task, there are ways to minimise the work: • • •
It is the BoM’s responsibility to implement them – seek to have some of the work delegated to BoM members at a BoM meeting Circulate the Response Plan to the BoM prior to the meeting and complete and adopt it at the meeting The “Staff Member Pre-Return to the School Self-Declaration Form” is for each staff member to complete and return to the Principal
1.4 OTHER ISSUE ARISING Details of the following are still being worked out, but will not be the responsibility of the school leader or the BoM. They will be resolved and implemented by the BoM. This Resource Bundle will be updated as the details become clear. The issues are:
1.4.1 Role and Selection of Compliance Officer and Staff Rep For the Summer Provision, these responsibilities will be agreed at school level

1.4.2 Funding The provision of sanitising and cleaning requisites will be undertaken centrally by the DES and distributed to all schools. A procurement exercise is currently under way in this regard. BoM’s should not spend money on these items until the details are clarified

2.1 SCHOOL COVID19 RESPONSE PLAN TEMPLATE – SUMMER PROVISION In accordance with the “Return to Work Safely Protocol” issued by the Government, all employers are required to prepare a COVID-19 Response Plan. 2.2 PRE-RETURN TO WORK (SCHOOL) FORM This allows each Staff Member to pre-declare their fitness to return to the school workplace. It should be filled in on-line and returned to the Principal 3 days before the Staff Member returns to the school workplace. To inform all School Leaders of the DES current actions on preparing schools for the adoption of Summer Provision To introduce the School Covid-19 Response Plan To inform School Leaders of the DES Procurement Plan for PPE To inform School Leaders of the DES plan to reimburse BoMs for necessary expenditure on PPE and Hand Sanitiser for the Summer Provision

2.5 RETURN TO SCHOOL SAFELY INDUCTION TRAINING These slides are designed to make all staff members aware of the dangers of COVID-19 and to instruct them in the precautions and procedures which are necessary for them to safely return to school.
