Tempair units Tempair is a low energy, air source, heat pump system providing heating, cooling and recovery for occupancy fresh air control. Energy for heating or cooing is provided by the combined operation of a recovery wheel and a variable capacity air source heat pump.
System applications VARV (variable air and refrigerant volume) Variable volume of supply and extract fans controlled from a discharge air pressure sensor. Single zone Temperature control from a return air sensor. Variable volume control of fans from a return CO2 sensor, to suit occupancy. Zone heating Will operate on recirculation to enable room temperature to rise with zone heaters prior to fresh air operation. Temperature control from return air. Reduced airflow available with zone isolation. Tempered air Temperature control from supply air sensor to give tempered air supply to all zones.
Operation A rotating recovery wheel transfers 70% of the energy from the room exhaust air to the supply air. The heat pump absorbs the energy from the exhaust air to the refrigerant in the outdoor coil, which is then compressed by the compressor, causing its temperature to rise. The indoor coil then transfers the heat to the supply air. The combined output to input power ratio (KW), for the heating provided by the recovery wheel and compressor is 10:1 (this includes the power consumption for air pressure added by the wheel and heat pump system).
System benefits • Savings in LPHW, DX or CW pipework cost, space and time • Utilises renewable energy for air source heat pump. • Reduced plant space having heating and cooling integral to the unit. • Variable capacity scroll compressors. • All controls prewired in units. • Compressors available with refrigerant pump down to reduce possibility of gas escape. • Reduced peristaltic loads.
