4 Flexibility and balance were the key words used to generate the design concept. The Pilates the Balance studio, located in a residential area in Seoul, South Korea, has the flexibility to host group sessions, private lessons or even ballet classes and the “balance” element is achieved with the creation of a shopping area and an organic Juice bar, providing a commercial aspect to the space.

Using a simple natural stone and a sand colour palette, the space is being kept minimal, warm and free of unnecessary design, creating a calm “spa atmosphere. A corridor divides the outside reception, waiting area, shop and Juice Bar from the pilates studio, which is all cladded with mirrors to make it feel bigger.

The project is located in the heart of The Stables at Camden Market. The refurbishment of the Atrium Kitchen was based on the change of the space from a cafe/restaurant to a co-working and multi functional space. The main challenge was to create a whole new environment that could age well with a really low budget, so the design focus was on the materials, furniture and addition of plants to give life to the space. The walls were cladded with fire proofing spray coat, a rustic yet warm and muted material that will last in time. Reinforced steel cages were designed and placed at both sides of the entrance staircase and on the glass wall that separates the Atrium Kitchen from the other co-working spaces, mainly for privacy in case of events. The ivies inside of the cages will grow to the full height, providing even more privacy in the future and giving a natural feeling to the space. We have also reutilized the wooden tables from the previous cafe and decided to clad them with modern pattern tiles.

The international events planning agency Broadwick Live, with their HQ based in Camden Town, London, appointed us to design their new office with the brief of creating a space where their employees could get inspired and have fun while working. Leisure areas, a ping pong/meeting room, a circular bar and coloured glass room boxes were the main additions to give life to a traditional working environment.

The 1,000 sqm project is located inside the “Quadrilatero della Moda di Milano” in via Verri. It was conceived with the idea of representing Time in space and follows the tradition of almost 80 years of family business. All the materials used, such as the wood, the terracotta terrazzo flooring, the brass and other elements like the symbols throughout the space, refer to the history of Pisa Orologeria. The gallery, with more than 15 window displays, invites customers to enter the building accessing to the reception area. On the ground floor there are areas dedicated to specific brands such as Cartier and A. Lange & Sohne, as well as a separate space called ‘Satellite’, designed to host brands that wish to express their identity in a more personal way.

The first floor is divided into four different lounges reserved for sports models, complications, women’s watches and tourbillion. In the back of the floor, a special private room called ‘Divino Room’ was designed for niche brands. A bar is also located on the first floor, where customers can relax while enjoying the buying experience. The second floor was created as a flexible space to host temporary exhibitions, events and watch related activities. Behind, a big library sits around a quick-service hospitality desk, followed by the Laboratory where specialists work for immediate assistance.

3 The final project started with the “Smart Harbor competition proposed by Young Architects Competition (YAC) for the re-qualification of the port of Pesaro, Italian city located on the Adriatic coast, in order to provide urban, economic and social benefits to the city and its citizens. The proposal was then developed further with the intention of reconquer this part of the city in order to position it as a new touristic destination. The project includes the consolidation of the port services on one side and the creation of new public spaces on the other one, concluding at north with the main building: the Concert Hall.

The Concert Hall stands at north of the port and the building marks the transition between the land and the sea. The direct contact of the users with the sea was one of the main goals of the project and it’s achieved designing spaces with a series of steps that create a threshold between the city and the harbor. It is composed by two main volumes: the first one, with a square form, hosts the foyer, administrative areas, services, multipurpose room and a restaurant. On the ground floor there’s the ticket office, rehearsal rooms and other areas for the musicians. The second volume is the Auditorium that emerges from the ground floor as a “shoe box”. Reinforced concrete walls conform the structure, creating fluid spaces and a monolithic effect by plunging them into the water.

The project is located in a residential area at Vimercate, Italy. The aim was to create two buildings for both Social and Co-Housing, strategically positioned in order to connect them with the context. The base unit is 66m2, in a module of 11 x 6m, but all the apartments can be expanded from a single-room to a two or three-bedroom apartment. Between the day and night area, there’s a prefab module for the bathroom, with all the installations included, and outside the kitchen. The circulation modules are at the sides of the buildings, connected with the apartments through outside corridors and a bridge for each of them at south.

The Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland (ARA), proposed a competition to redevelop a part of the city of Lahti, with a social-housing complex. The city and the nature are two strong forces that meet each other and generate the concept of the project: a point of rupture, an urban “crack”. With the treatment of the topography, this “crack” will become a place of encounter, generating different spaces and situations where sometimes people are elevated from the ground, enjoying views of the city and the natural landscape, and some other times they are submerged in an underground space.

8 There are three housing groups, all of them located at the edge of the crack, allowing the housing cells to have a privileged access to all the situations and spaces of the zone. The single house is treated as a pure prism that “crashes in the crack and mutes to become part of it. There are just two types of houses, with one and two floors, both with a regular spatial outline that allows an easy modification because of the group of service areas in a central cell, while service areas are developed around it.

Alfa 7.5-14Hz, 2017 Acrylic piece (42 cm x 29.7 cm)
-
Alpha 7.5-14Hz are the brain waves present on a profound relaxation with eyes closed. In this state, imagination, visualization, memory and concentration increase. The piece receives the name because it was conceived during a dream. Inspired on Balenciaga’s designs, it’s an homage to the lines, forms and volumes that characterize his work. Based on the feminine elegance, the piece represents the figure of the woman, from her silhouette to the pleats of a dress. With its perspective, depth, lights and shadows, and the contrast between black and white, it can also be interpreted as an architectural piece.
