Step-by-step guide: Creating a blackboard using Johnstone’s Speciality Matt Black

Step 1 Ensure, as far as possible, that initial stain is clean, dry and free from dust.

Step 1 Ensure surface is clean, dry and free from loose and flaking material. Stir well before use and apply Johnstone’s Speciality Matt Black by brush or roller, ensure a solid, even coat is applied. Apply a second coat if required.

Primers & Preparation Step-by-step guide: Preparing a wooden surface using Johnstone’s Speciality Traditional Wood Primer

Step 1 Prepare surface by sanding down with a fine waterproof abrasive paper, follow the flow of the grain to ensure no damage to the wood.

Step-by-step guide: Preparing and painting a radiator using Johnstone’s Speciality Radiator Enamel

Step 1 Turn radiator off prior to painting and allow to cool. Clean and sand all surfaces. All loose and flaking material should be removed.

Step 2 Brush Johnstone’s Speciality Radiator Enamel carefully but briskly onto the cold radiator without overworking, the surface will level out readily to give an even, professional finish.

Step 3 After painting leave for at least 30 minutes and turn on radiator for 2 hours at maximum setting to fully harden the enamel. If a second coat is required, apply once the first coat has hardened and the radiator is completely cool. 10
