During the iron mining boom, Ironwood had four Methodist churches –each of which aligned to a nationality. In 1950, the final combination took place, and Wesley was formed as the single United Methodist Church. In celebration of that event, the chancel area of the 1910 granite building was completely renovated, and a new 3 manual, 23 rank M.P. Moller pipe organ was installed –which continues to give outstanding hymn leadership to the present day without any mechanical or tonal changes.

Wesley welcomes all people –you don’t have to be a member of any Church to attend. Everyone is welcome to come and worship with us!

Born out of the 18th Century Church of England (Anglican) traditions, where Christian faith & practice were seen to be grounded on scripture, tradition, and reason, the Anglican minister John Wesley added a fourth element –experience: a person’s understanding of the faith through the experience of their own life. From its very early days, the religious movement of those who came to be called “Methodists” has centered strongly on the daily living out of the Gospel message –putting faith and love into action within the present-day world.
