Registered Nurses (R.N.s.) are at the frontline of healthcare as leaders, advocates, educators and caregivers due to their unique knowledge and skills. They enjoy flexible schedules at hospitals, physicians’ offices, clinics, surgery centers, nursing homes, school systems, private homes or residential care facilities.
The IRSC Associate Degree in Nursing is a selective-admissions program. Final consideration is based upon completion of the following prior to the application deadline. Applicants must:
• Be at least 18 years of age prior to first day of clinical (within two months of the first day of class);
• Complete the IRSC Application for Admission at irsc.edu. Select "ADMISSIONS/APPLY" and then "Apply". On the application, select the Associate Degree in Nursing Program;
• Ensure all official transcripts are on file in IRSC Student Records;
• Complete Anatomy & Physiology I and lab with a grade of “C” or higher (required);
• Have an IRSC and college cumulative GPA above 3.0;
• Register and pay for the HESI A2 Admission Assessment Exam;
• Receive a cumulative composite score of 80 on the HESI A2 Admission Assessment Exam and the subcategories of Basic Math and Anatomy and Physiology. Additional admission points earned for specific coursework completed will be tallied (see Application Booklet);
• Meet eligibility criteria determined by the Florida Board of Nursing;
• To be considered for the Advanced Placement option, submit a copy of a valid, active, unencumbered Florida License for Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist or Practical Nursing to the IRSC School of Nursing. Email IRSCSONprograminfo@irsc.edu; and
• Meet with an IRSC advisor to review General Education degree requirements.
The Associate Degree Nursing Program at Indian River State College at the Massey Campus, Fort Pierce, Florida, is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program meets the educational requirements for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Florida. Indian River State College’s (IRSC) ADN degree program is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. If you are a student who may choose to reside outside of Florida, Indian River State College cannot confirm whether this degree program meets educational requirements for professional licensure in your state.
