Begin your career as an integral member of the healthcare team— trained to inspect, decontaminate, sterilize, assemble and package reusable surgical instruments. Graduates earning the IRSC Central Service Technology certificate are able to take the Certified Registered Central Service Technician national and international exams and seek entry-level employment in a hospital or outpatient surgery center.
The Central Service Technology Career and Technical Education program is a selective-admissions program that takes six months to complete. You’ll receive a strong foundation in the essentials of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical language and microbiology. Final consideration is based upon completion of the following prior to the application deadline. Applicants must • Be at least 18 years of age prior to the first day of class; • Have a high school diploma or GED®; • Complete the IRSC Application for Admission; • Complete the IRSC Health Science Application and pay the $30 application fee; • Ensure all official transcripts are on file at IRSC Student Records; and • Consult the Central Service Technology Application Book for additional application requirements. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify. GED® is a registered trademark of the American Council on Education (ACE) and administered exclusively by GED Testing Service LLC under license.
