Program Requirements • Applicants must be at least 16 years of age. • Only Cosmetology and Barbering program applicants must complete the Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE).

Cosmetology (1200 clock hours; 11 months) Barbering (900 clock hours; 9 months) Coursework includes providing beauty services, such as shampooing, cutting, coloring, and styling hair; massaging and treating the scalp; applying facials; manicuring; and pedicuring. The Barbering program also provides instruction in mustache and beard design, and shaving. Upon completion of the program, you’ll be prepared for the State Board Exam to become a licensed cosmetologist or barber. Employment is available in beauty salons, barbershops, resort spas, nursing homes and other residential care facilities. Cosmetology Specialist–Facials (220 clock hours; 3 months) Coursework includes applying make-up, chemical peels, facial and microdermabrasion treatments, and removing unwanted hair. Upon completion of the program, you’ll be prepared to register in the State of Florida as an esthetician. A variety of employment opportunities are available, including working in a salon or resort spa as a skin care specialist, in a merchandising capacity for a major cosmetic company or with dermatologists and plastic surgeons. Cosmetology Specialist–Nails (180 clock hours; 4 months) Coursework includes the art of manicuring, pedicuring, sculptured nails and artificial nails. Upon completion, you’ll be prepared to register in the State of Florida as a nail technician and work in a nail salon or resort spa.
