The Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice prepares students for leadership roles in local, state and federal law enforcement, probation, corrections, juvenile justice and private companies providing security services. For those already working in the field, the degree can lead to advancement. Graduates may also choose to pursue a Master’s Degree or apply to law school.

The Criminal Justice Bachelor’s Degree program is located at the Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex at IRSC, where the combination of criminal justice, fire science, emergency management, public administration, paralegal and human services education is essential in training students and emergency responders for coordinated responses to all types of emergencies.

Hands-On Learning at the Institute for Cold Case Investigation
The Institute for Cold Case Investigation (ICCI) is an applied-learning initiative that gives students enrolled in the IRSC Criminal Justice Bachelor’s Degree program real-world experience as they work with local law enforcement agencies toward resolutions on open, unsolved criminal investigations. The Institute is the first of its kind for a college or university in Florida and the only higher-education-led cold case investigation institute in the southeastern United States.

Students who have not taken 2 credits of sequential high school foreign language must complete two semesters or 8 credit hours of the same foreign language at the college level to meet the foreign language requirement.
Capstone Guidance:Students must have permission from Department Chair and see an advisor to register for Capstone course (CCJ4700). Students must also have completed the foreign language requirement, all General Education courses, all upper-division core courses. Due to the demands of the Capstone course, registration in the final semester is limited to 12 credits.
