Begin your career as a valued member of an industry that seeks to help others look and feel their best. Dental hygienists work directly with patients to help them maintain and improve their oral health appearance and quality of life. Graduates of the IRSC Dental Hygiene program take the Dental Hygiene National and State Licensure Board examinations and seek employment in a private dental office, public health agency, school system, hospital or clinic.
The Associate in Science Degree in Dental Hygiene is a selective-admissions program. You’ll learn how to examine the mouth, scale, root plane, polish teeth and interpret x-rays through classroom instruction, handson practice at IRSC’s dental clinic. Final consideration is based upon completion of the following prior to the application deadline. Applicants must • Be at least 18 years of age prior to the first day of class; • Have a high school diploma or GED®; • Complete the IRSC Application for Admission; • Complete the IRSC Health Science Application and pay the $30 application fee; • Ensure all official transcripts are on file at IRSC Student Records; and • Consult the Dental Hygiene Application Book for additional application requirements. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify. The Indian River State College Dental Hygiene program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
