As a teacher, you can make a difference in the lives of children and young adults, helping to shape them into productive global citizens. Employment opportunities for teachers on the Treasure Coast are excellent, especially in the high-demand fields of math, science, ESE and bilingual education. Bachelor’s Degree programs in Education at IRSC offer outstanding options. Graduates are sought after by area school districts due to the comprehensive nature of the curriculum and in-service opportunities. Programs offer students the opportunity to participate in multiple practicums in local schools and a 12week internship as a student teacher.

Bachelor of Science Degree Programs

• Elementary Education with Reading and ESOL Endorsements* • Exceptional Student Education (ESE) with Reading and ESOL Endorsements* • Middle Grades Mathematics* • Secondary Mathematics • Middle Grades Science • Secondary Biology Graduates of Exceptional Student Education and Middle and Secondary Grades math and science programs may choose to teach in other subjects, or teach occupational, career and technical subjects.

Scholarships

Students may apply for dozens of scholarships available through the IRSC Foundation. Additionally, three Baccalaureate Student Teaching Scholarships are awarded each fall and spring semester.

Admissions Requirements

A.A. Degree with a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA and a passing grade on the Florida Teacher Certification Exam. See irsc.edu for required prerequisites.

*Students may choose completely online coursework with inperson practicum experiences and proctored exams to complete their Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Note: each online course requires at least one proctored exam.
