Begin your career as a valued member of the diagnostic healthcare team—trained to perform vital tasks in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. As a medical lab technologist, you’ll be part of the emerging bio technology field which is generating new career opportunities throughout the region, state and nation. Graduates of the IRSC Medical Laboratory Technology program take the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB) medical technology certification exams and seek employment in a hospital or independent laboratory.

The Associate in Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology is a selective-admissions program. You’ll learn to examine blood and other body fluids, make cultures of body fluid and tissue samples, analyze samples and determine concentrations of compounds. Then, you’ll put what you’ve learned to work through real-world clinical experiences at a local hospital. Final consideration is based upon completion of the following prior to the application deadline. Applicants must • Be at least 18 years of age prior to the first day of class; • Have a high school diploma or GED®; • Complete the IRSC Application for Admission; • Complete the IRSC Health Science Application and pay the $30 application fee; • Ensure all official transcripts are on file at IRSC Student Records; and • Consult the Medical Laboratory Technology Application Book for additional application requirements. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify. The IRSC Medical Laboratory Technology program is accredited by the National Accreditation Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). GED® is a registered trademark of the American Council on Education (ACE) and administered exclusively by GED Testing Service LLC under license. This material is not endorsed or approved by ACE or GED Testing Service.
