Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded program offered free of charge to eligible, current and incoming IRSC students who are first-generation college students, or have a financial need, or have verifiable learning or physical disabilities. SSS provides academic, cultural, career-oriented and social opportunities to help you complete your education and reach your goals. SSS will help you explore your talents and abilities, gain confidence, develop a vision for your life, set the highest standards, aspire to academic and personal excellence, and develop a sense of community and social responsibility for success at IRSC and beyond! Financial support for unmet needs is available through grants to those who qualify.


Services Offered • Personal academic advising • Unlimited one-on-one and small group tutoring at flexible times • Resource lab with textbooks, laptops and instructional resources • Workshops (studying, notetaking, time management and personal finance) • Career exploration (counseling and tours of local businesses) • Leadership conferences • Public college and university tours • University transfer assistance • Personal counseling • Peer mentoring • Cultural enrichment activities • Volunteer opportunities and community service projects • Achievers Club and Summer Bridge Program

Program Requirements Students must • Be a citizen, national or permanent resident of the United States; • Be currently enrolled at IRSC with less than 30 credits; • Have a verifiable financial need; OR • Be a first-generation college student (neither parent is a graduate of a four-year college/university); OR • Have a verifiable learning or physical disability and be referred by IRSC Student Accessibility Services.

Student Support Services is a TRIO program that is free-of-charge to eligible IRSC students and is funded 100% annually in the amount of $335,111 through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. IRSC is an EA/EO educational institution.
