We are proud to announce that this year marks a big milestone for Festival Ballet Theatre. It is our 30th anniversary and our 30th production of the beloved Nutcracker. It is our privilege to share our magical rendition of The Nutcracker with all of you right here at Irvine Barclay Theatre, one of the top community-based performing arts facilities in the county. We are very grateful to the amazing Irvine Barclay Theatre staff and President Jerry Mandel for sharing with us their expertise and for their continuous support of Festival Ballet Theatre. We hope that you and your loved ones will treasure the memories of this Nutcracker performance for years to come!

Please join us in welcoming our distinguished guest artists who will be performing as our Sugar Plum Fairy: Teresa Reichlen (December 8–9), Tara Ghassemieh (December 14), Maria Kochetkova (December 15–16), Beckanne Sisk (December 21–22) and Sara Mearns (December 23–24). The handsome Cavalier will be danced by: Ulrik Birkkjaer (December 8–9), Vitor Luiz (December 14–16), Chase O’Connell (December 21–22) and Jared Angle (December 23–24).

In March 2019, we will be staging the romantic fairy tale ballet, The Sleeping Beauty — a charming ballet for the whole family. The season culminates in August with our 12th annual Gala of the Stars. This international ballet festival showcases ballet stars from some of the world’s most prestigious dance companies, performing alongside FBT’s own accomplished resident dancers.

Festival Ballet Theatre was founded as a non-profit organization in 1988 and has grown to become Orange County’s premier ballet company. ABOUT SOUTHLAND BALLET ACADEMY Southland Ballet Academy (SBA) is the official school of Festival Ballet Theatre. Founded in 1983, SBA cultivates, trains and inspires an appreciation for classical ballet from beginner to professional dancer. Since opening its doors as a ballet studio, SBA and director Salwa Rizkalla have secured a national and international reputation and have played a prominent role in grooming world-class dancers. SBA has grown from a modest one-room facility to eight state-ofthe-art studios in two Orange County locations — Fountain Valley and Irvine. SBA’s International Summer Intensive program is a favorite destination for dancers who enjoy classes taught by world-renowned artistic directors, ballet masters and choreographers. The Intensive culminates in the Inspired Young Dancer Performance that gives the young dancers an opportunity to refine their performance abilities on stage.

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR Salwa Rizkalla Artistic Director Salwa Rizkalla has been firmly committed to developing the art of ballet and the future of dance in Orange County. For more than 30 years, Ms. Rizkalla has presented the finest classical and contemporary repertoire ranging from full-length classical ballets to world-premiere contemporary works through Festival Ballet Theatre.

During her professional dancing career, Ms. Rizkalla graced the stage in leading roles in well-known classical ballets as well as in contemporary pieces. She had the privilege of working under the direction of world-renowned choreographers Leonid Lavrovsky and Serge Lifar. As a young dancer, Ms. Rizkalla trained in the Russian Vaganova method and studied with ballet masters of the Bolshoi and the Kirov. As the culmination of her training, Ms. Rizkalla completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ballet Pedagogy. She established Southland Ballet Academy in 1983 and debuted Festival Ballet Theatre in 1988. In addition to teaching and directing, Ms. Rizkalla was a faculty member of several area institutions. Many arts organizations have recognized her service. The Orange County Music and Arts Administrators and Orange County Performing Arts Center jointly recognized her with the Orange County Arts Educator of the Year Award for Secondary Dance (2003); Youth America Grand Prix awarded Ms. Rizkalla Outstanding Teacher accolades since its inception; and Arts Orange County recognized Ms. Rizkalla with the Helena Modjeska Cultural Legacy Award (2014). The Orange County Register named Ms. Rizkalla one of OC’s 100 Most Influential People in 2017.

Ms. Rizkalla has been honored to impact the lives of hundreds of students and their families through her teaching. She is proud to be a dedicated educator, an energetic promoter of the arts, and an active participant in the cultural life of her community.

GUEST ARTISTS Jared Angle Dec. 23 at 1pm & 6pm, Dec. 24 at 11am (Appears courtesy of New York City Ballet) Jared Angle was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania and began his early dance training at the age of six at the Allegheny Ballet Academy. He entered the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet, in the fall of 1996. In 1997, Mr. Angle received the Rudolf Nureyev Scholarship to continue his training at SAB for the 1997–1998 school year. Mr. Angle became an apprentice with New York City Ballet in March 1998 and joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet in July 1998. He was promoted to the rank of soloist in February 2001. On November 11, 2005, Mr. Angle was promoted to principal dancer following a performance during a Company visit to Denmark for the reopening of the Tivoli Concert Hall.

Mr. Angle was a recipient of the Princess Grace Dance Fellowship (2001–2002), and has appeared in broadcasts and films, including Live from Lincoln Center: Lincoln Center Celebrates Balanchine 100; Kennedy Center Honors tribute to Patricia McBride (2014); and Columbia Pictures’ Center Stage. Highlights from his repertoire include Balanchine’s Allegro Brilliante; Divertimento No. 15; Duo Concertant; “Emeralds” from Jewels; The Four Temperments; Liebeslieder Walzer; Tchaikovsky Pas De Duex; numerous works by Jerome Robbins, Twyla Tharp, Christopher Wheeldon; and original works by Peter Martins, Benjamin Millepied, Justin Peck, and many others. In 2017, he joined San Francisco Ballet as a principal dancer.

Ulrik Birkkjaer created roles in Marston’s Snowblind (Ethan Frome), Millepied’s The Chairman Dances — Quartet for Two (2nd section); Peck’s Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming; Pita’s Björk Ballet; and Rhoden’s Let’s Begin at The End. He danced principal roles in Balanchine’s Serenade (Dark Angel); Bournonville’s La Sylphide (pas de deux excerpt); Peck’s Rodeo: Four Dance Episodes; Robbins’ Fancy Free (pas de deux — Sailor); Scarlett’s Frankenstein (Victor Frankenstein); and Tomasson’s Nutcracker (grand pas de deux — Prince). 8 | IRVINE BARCLAY THEATRE

Elsewhere, Ulrik danced such major roles as James in Bournonville’s La Syphide; Albrecht in Englund/Hübbe’s Giselle; Solor in Hübbe’s La Bayadère; Des Grieux in MacMillan’s Manon; Prince in Martins/Hübbe’s (after Petipa) Swan Lake; Armand in Neumeier’s Lady of the Camellias; and Romeo in Neumeier’s Romeo and Juliet. He created principal roles in Cherkaoui’s L’homme de Bois, Ratmansky’s The Golden Cockerel, and Wheeldon’s The Sleeping Beauty and The Wanderers. His repertory includes Balanchine’s Agon, Diamonds, Rubies, Serenade, Symphony in C, Symphony in Three Movements, Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 2, and Theme and Variations; Bournonville’s Conservatory, A Folktale, and La Ventana; Kylián’s Bella Figura, Petit Mort, and Sechs Tanze; and Martins’ Octet. As a guest artist, Ulrik has performed with the Lithuanian National Ballet, Los Angeles Ballet and Japan’s Inoue Ballet, and at many galas. He produced a tour of Bournonville Celebration, which travelled to New York City and London in 2015, and a benefit performance, Dancing for UNICEF, in Denmark in 2011.

Ulrik won the award for best male dancer at The International Competition for the Erik Bruhn Prize in Toronto, Canada, in 2006. Maria Kochetkova Dec. 15 at 2pm & 7pm, Dec. 16 at 1pm & 6pm Born in Moscow, Russia, Maria Kochetkova trained at The Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow. She has danced with The Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, and as a guest artist with Tokyo Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet and Mikhailovsky Ballet in St. Petersburg before joining San Francisco Ballet as a principal dancer in 2007.

Among Kochetkova’s major roles are Giselle in Tomasson’s Giselle; Grand Pas de Deux Ballerina, Queen of the Snow, and Sugar Plum Fairy in Tomasson’s Nutcracker; Juliet in Tomasson’s Romeo and Juliet; Odette/Odile in Tomasson’s Swan Lake; Kitri in Tomasson/Possokhov’s Don Quixote; Swanilda in Balanchine’s Coppélia; Tatiana in Cranko’s Onegin; and Cinderella in Wheeldon’s Cinderella. She has created principal roles in Liang’s Symphonic Dances; McGregor’s Borderlands; Page’s Guide to Strange Places; Possokhov’s Classical Symphony, Diving into the Lilacs, and Francesca da Rimini; Ratmansky’s From Foreign Lands; Tomasson’s On a Theme of Paganini and Trio; and Wheeldon’s Within the Golden Hour.

Kochetkova’s many honors include, among others: gold medal at the International Ballet Competition in Korea and Italy (2005); bronze medal at Moscow International Competition (2001). She was nominated for a Benois de la Danse award in 2013 for her performance of Tatiana in Cranko’s Onegin. She won the Isadora Duncan Dance Award for Best Individual Performance for Giselle during the 2008 repertory season. In December 2008, she was featured as the Grand Pas de Deux Ballerina in the PBS Great Performances broadcast of Tomasson’s Nutcracker, co-produced by San Francisco Ballet and KQED Public Television San Francisco, in association with Thirteen/ WNET New York. A frequent guest artist, Kochetkova performs with companies worldwide.

He joined San Francisco Ballet as a principal dancer in 2009.

Vitor has danced Swan Lake, Coppélia and The Nutcracker with English National Ballet and has performed at galas in the U.S. and the Dominican Republic. He was nominated for an Isadora Duncan Dance Award for Best Ensemble Performance in Possokhov’s Classical Symphony during the 2010 repertory season. Sara Mearns was born in Columbia, South Carolina, and began her dance training at the age of three with Ann Brodie at the Calvert-Brodie School of Dance, also in Columbia. At the age of 13, Ms. Mearns trained with Patricia McBride at Dance Place, the School of North Carolina Dance Theatre, in Charlotte. She continued her studies at age 14 with Stanislav Issaev at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville. Ms. Mearns entered the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet, full time in the fall of 2001. In the fall of 2003, Ms. Mearns became an apprentice with New York City Ballet. In June of 2004, Ms. Mearns joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet. In March of 2006, she was promoted to soloist and in June 2008, Ms. Mearns was promoted to principal dancer. Ms. Mearns has performed at the Fall for Dance Festival at New York City Center in 2013, 2014 and 2017, in works that she commissioned. She also starred in A Dancer’s Dream, a New York Philharmonic production choreographed by Karole Armitage and conducted by Alan Gilbert, which was broadcast nationally. She made her Broadway debut in the “Lonely Town Pas de Deux” from the Tony-nominated musical On the Town, choreographed by Joshua Bergasse.

Ms. Mearns has originated roles in works by world renowned choreographers, Alexei Ratmansky, Christopher Wheeldon, Peter Martins, Benjamin Millepied, Liam Scarlett, Richard Tanner and Susan Stroman. Ms. Mearns is the recipient of a 2018 Bessie Award for Outstanding Performer, following a Bessie nomination in 2014. She was also nominated for the Benois de la Danse award for Best Female Performance of the Year in 2012 for her role in Ocean’s Kingdom. She is a 2003 recipient of the Mae L. Wien Award for Outstanding Promise and a 2003 nominee for the Princess Grace Award.

He started his professional training at 13 at the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington D.C. He then went to the Royal Ballet School in London for two years on scholarship. After Royal he was offered a temporary contract with the Paris Opera Ballet Company. He then joined Ballet West II in 2012 and was promoted to Principal in 2015. He has performed Principal roles in John Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet, Adam Sklute’s adaptation of Swan Lake, George Balanchine’s Symphony in C (Second Movement), Jerome Robbins’ Fancy Free, Jiri Kylian’s Petit Mort, Overgrown Path and Forgotten Land.

Teresa Reichlen was born in Clifton, Virginia. She began her dance training at the age of 10 at the Russell School of Ballet with Thomas and Illona Russell, Mary Rogers and Margaret McGarry. In 1999, Ms. Reichlen studied at the summer program of the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet. She entered SAB full-time in the fall of the same year. In October 2000, Ms. Reichlen became an apprentice with New York City Ballet; and in October 2001, she joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet. In January 2005, Ms. Reichlen was promoted to the rank of soloist; and in October 2009, she was promoted to principal dancer. Ms. Reichlen has performed feature roles in works by Geroge Balanchine, August Bournonville, Ulysses Dove, Jorma Elo, William Forsythe, Peter Martins, Jerome Robbins and Christopher Wheeldon. Ms. Reichlen has performed in originated featured roles in Mauro Bigonzetti’s Luce Nacosta; Peter Martins’ Bal de Couture; Benjamin Millepied’s Plainspoken; Justin Peck’s Everywhere We Go and Year of the Rabbit; and Troy Schumacher’s Clearing Dawn and Common Ground. Ms. Reichlen was the Janice Levin Dancer Honoree for 2004–2005. Beckanne Sisk Dec. 21 at 2pm & 7pm, Dec. 22 at 2pm & 7pm (Appears courtesy of Ballet West, Adam Sklute, Artistic Director) Beckanne Sisk was born in Longview, Texas and studied at Longview Ballet Theatre until the age of 14. She then moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to attend The Rock School for Dance Education’s RAPA program for four years. She joined Ballet West II in 2010 and was promoted to principal artist in 2015. She has performed leading roles in Anna Marie Holmes Don Quixote; John Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet; Adam Sklute’s adaptation of Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake. Sisk was featured in Breaking Pointe, a reality TV series on the CW. Beckanne competed in Youth America Grand Prix and was a New York City finalist from 2006 to 2010. In 2006, she was a bronze medalist and, in 2008, was first runner-up in the Discount Dance Model Search. She received the Jerome Robbins Scholarship Award in 2007 and won the Princess Grace Dance Fellowship Award in 2012 along with the bronze medal at the Beijing International Ballet Competition.

COMPANY DANCERS AJ Abrams is a native of Long Beach, California. He trained at Pacific Northwest Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet and School of American Ballet. At 19, he began his professional career at Ballet Austin. His credits with Ballet Austin include original works by Stephen Mills, including Hamlet, a featured role in the ballet Touch and The Taming of the Shrew. He performed a solo role in Septime Webers’ Fluctuating Hemlines and principal roles as the Sugar Plum Cavalier in The Nutcracker, Albrecht in Giselle and the principal male in Balanchine’s Who Cares? Mr. Abrams has appeared in a music video for Florence and the Machine. He is currently a member of the Luminario Ballet of Los Angeles. This is AJ’s eleventh season with Festival Ballet Theatre.

Andrew Brader was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He trained at the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts, The HARID Conservatory and the American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School. He was invited to join ABT as an apprentice and later joined the Houston Ballet. He danced with the Los Angeles Ballet for four seasons, performing principal roles in George Balanchine’s Agon, The Four Temperaments, Stravinsky Violin Concerto, Serenade, Kammermusik No.2. Andrew was a Lester Horton Award nominee for Outstanding Achievement in Performance and winner of the Habich-Corey Emerging Choreography Award. He spent two seasons with BalletMet before joining Germany’s Stadt Theater Chemnitz as a soloist. Andrew joined Complexions Contemporary Ballet in 2014.

Mariana Carrillo started dancing at the age of five in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She received a scholarship to Ballet Austin Academy at the age of 17 and moved to Orange County to train with former ABT dancer and Gala de Danza Mexico founder, Christina Lyon. She also trained under the direction of Salwa Rizkalla at Southland Ballet Academy and performed with Festival Ballet Theatre in The Nutcracker, Firebird, Giselle, among others. Mariana has performed in Christina Lyon’s Gala de Danza México, International Dance Festival of Miami; and danced for Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora on the MTV Video Music Awards. Mariana is currently attending USC and working towards a dance major degree and a minor in business. This is Mariana’s sixth season with Festival Ballet Theatre.

Brandon Forrest has attended the Los Angeles County High School of the Arts, Colburn Ballet Academy and the San Francisco Ballet School. At 18, he joined Los Angeles Ballet as a company member and performed Sirens under the direction of Josie Walsh. Brandon spent two years as a personal trainer at LA Fitness and transitioned into performing with Ballet Magique, Long Beach Ballet, Santa Clarita Ballet, Pacific Festival Ballet and Pacific Ballet Dance Theatre. Brandon has also appeared on Glee; USA’s The Moment; and a commercial for Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas. He writes and records original music; instructs foam rolling/circuit training at Uplift LA and teaches dance with Shiva Bagheri. This is his third season with Festival Ballet Theatre. Alexander Fost was Mr. Dance USA in 2006 and Mr. Dance International in 2007 in Tokyo, Japan. After high school, Alexander focused on classical training and was recognized as one of the top 10 finalists at 12 | IRVINE BARCLAY THEATRE

International Youth America Grand Prix (2008). Since then, Alexander has been dancing professionally on a national scale. Aside from live theater and ballet, he has also appeared as an actor and dancer on multiple TV shows on Disney and ABC. He was a finalist on the eighth season of FOX’s hit dance show, So You Think You Can Dance. In addition to dancing, Alexander enjoys teaching and choreographing.

Tara Ghassemieh began her training in Huntington Beach, California, at Orange County Dance Center. She has garnered many honors, titles and awards, including first all-around soloist at Showstoppers Nationals; finalist at Youth America Grand Prix in New York City; Teen Miss Dance of America 2004 for Dance Masters of America; and National Training Scholar for American Ballet Theatre. At the age of 16, Tara was offered a full scholarship to the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at ABT and an apprenticeship with Washington Ballet. She has performed numerous ballets with ABT at the Metropolitan Opera House, including Le Corsaire, Swan Lake and The Sleeping Beauty. She performed on Broadway in Movin’ Out and was a featured actress on Law and Order SVU, CSI and Gossip Girl. Tara is a guest artist with ballet companies nationwide. She teaches contemporary dance at Southland Ballet Academy. This is her eighth season with Festival Ballet Theatre. Greyson Hanson began his classical ballet training at the age of nine and transitioned into many other dance styles by the age of 12. Throughout his youth, he was an award-winning competitor in a variety of dance competitions. He is currently attending UCI, where he is double majoring in dance and exercise sciences. Greyson has received scholarships for his academic achievements and his artistry as a dancer. He has been accepted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and was awarded the William J. Gillespie Scholarship in Ballet Studies. Greyson started performing with Festival Ballet Theatre in 2015. He has danced in Don Quixote, Swan Lake and The Sleeping Beauty. This is Greyson’s fourth time performing in Festival Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker. Olivia Harrigan began her ballet training at the age of three at Southland Ballet Academy, under the guidance of Salwa Rizkalla. She has performed in numerous Festival Ballet Theatre ballets, including Giselle, Coppélia, Don Quixote, Alice in Wonderland, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker and various mixed repertoire pieces. Ms. Harrigan is currently attending California State University, Long Beach as a health science major. She is an intern at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Long Beach and has an EMT license. She is the public health chair for The Flying Samaritans, a club that sets up a health clinic every month in Valle de las Palmas, Mexico to help the underserved communities. She aspires to become a pathologist.

Joseph Hetzer, a California native, started his classical training at South Bay Ballet in 2012. He went on to attend the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance and the USC Marshall School of Business to further develop his artistic and administrative ambitions. While in school, he was mentored by William Forsythe, Desmond Richardson, Zippora Karz and a number of other

notable individuals who have helped strengthen his technique and artistry. He trained at the Royal Danish Ballet School, Jacobs Pillow Ballet Program, and Joffrey Ballet Chicago. Joseph prides himself on his work ethic, his ability to learn choreography fast, and his professional attitude inside and outside of the studio. He is honored to participate in this year’s Nutcracker and wishes everyone a happy holiday season.

Lex Ishimoto, from Irvine, California, danced for 11 years at West Coast School of the Arts and a few years with Southland Ballet Academy. He played Billy on the first and second national tour of Billy Elliot the Musical. Lex was named Elite Protégé on The PULSE on Tour 2014. In 2015, he was named grand finalist in the non-classical dance category at the Music Center Spotlight Awards and senior grand prix winner at the Los Angeles Youth America Grand Prix regional rounds. He studied at the Boston Ballet Trainee Program in 2015 and moved to Boston Ballet II, the second company of Boston Ballet, the following year. In 2016, he was named Senior Male Best Dancer of the Year at the Dance Awards and was also a finalist at the National Young Arts Foundation. In 2017, he won the title of America’s Favorite Dancer on So You Think You Can Dance.

Charles Johnston. A native of California, Charles Johnston has called Festival Ballet Theatre his home since 1994. He has since danced all the lead character roles in the Company’s classical repertoire. Johnston continues to work as guest artist and has performed character roles with ABT, New York City Ballet and The Royal Ballet. A former teacher of dance and drama, he has studied with Frederic Franklin in New York; Michael Panaieff in Los Angeles; and Lila Zali, founder of the former Ballet Pacifica, in Orange County. Festival Ballet Theatre has been honored to present Mr. Johnston for over two decades. Skye Schmidt, a native of California, began her ballet training under Salwa Rizkalla in 1998 at Southland Ballet Academy, where she learned from numerous world renowned ballet masters, including

Tatiana Legat; acting head of the Mariinsky Ballet,Yuri Fateyev; Vladimir Malakhov; and Alexei Ratmansky. Skye joined Festival Ballet Theatre in 2012 and has since performed principal, soloist and corps de ballet roles in The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Giselle, among others. She has originated roles in works by choreographers Lillian Barbeito of Bodytraffic, Andrea Schermoly, Tong Wang and Josie Walsh. Skye graduated from UCI with a BFA in Dance Performance. In 2016, she received the William J. Gillespie Foundation Scholarship for her outstanding efforts in classical ballet at UCI. Skye is an avid photographer and photographs for the Laguna Dance Festival, FBT and UCI.

Evan Strand grew up in Huntington Beach, California and trained at Southland Ballet Academy. He is delighted to be back at his home studio for this time-honored tradition. Evan has been pursuing acting. His acting credits include: Zoot Suit at the Mark Taper Forum; The Reddi-wip Milkman in Hairspray Live! on NBC; a guest-starring role in Grey’s Anatomy. His acting, dancing and singing have taken him to Japan, China, Australia, Romania and London. Joining FBT/SBA for their 30th anniversary is an absolute pleasure. Thank you Salwa and the entire FBT/SBA family for being such a strong foundation in my work. Megan Yamashita attends the University of Southern California. She has been at Southland Ballet Academy, under the direction of Salwa Rizkalla, since the age of three. Some of her accomplishments include garnering second place in the Junior Division at the 2007 Youth America Grand Prix in Faenza, Italy. She was a semifinalist in classical as well as non-classical dance at the 2008 Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight Awards, with honorable mention in classical dance. Yamashita is a grand prize winner of 2008 Orange County Performing Arts Center’s “Tomorrow’s Stars at the Center” in classical dance discipline.

Call the Box Office at 949.854.4646 Monday through Friday from 10am until 6pm; Saturday and Sunday from noon until 4pm. On days of a performance, the Box Office generally remains open through the first half of a performance. MasterCard, VISA, American Express, and Discover accepted. Late Seating To prevent disruption of a performance in progress, patrons who have not entered the theatre when the performance begins may be asked to wait in the lobby until there is a suitable interval. Ushers Ushers are located at each auditorium entrance and at designated stations in the lobby. Please consult an usher if you need assistance. If you are interested in joining the usher staff, please contact the Patron Services Manager at: 949.854.4193; darling@thebarclay.org. Public Parking Parking is managed by UC Irvine and is available for a fee. The parking structure is located at the corner of West Peltason and Campus Dive.

Restrooms Restrooms are located on the main lobby level near the box office. For your convenience, diaper changing stations are located in both the men’s and women’s restrooms. Drinking fountains are located on either side of the main lobby staircase and on the second level. Children Children are welcome. However, not all events are appropriate for small children. A paid ticket is required for everyone entering the theatre, including infants and children. The box office can provide advice regarding an event’s suitability.
