Mayor Anne Baker said young people, 10 years and over, are welcome to book a place in workshops being held across the region.

“If scary movies aren’t your thing, there’s plenty of places to take an adventure in Isaac.

“For those families staying at home, tire the kids out at one of Isaac’s aquatic facilities or enjoy picnics at one of our local playgrounds.

“There are adventures to be had at our local Isaac libraries with free school holiday activities catering for all ages. These include Easter and holiday craft, First 5 Forever rhyme time, and more.

“From relaxing family getaways by the water, great adult and children programs at our local Libraries and Recreation Centres.

“We also have an awesome line up of movie marathons around the region during Youth Week and the school holidays.

Mayor Anne Baker says there is something for everyone to enjoy in the region.

“If you’ve never seen the dugongs off the coast of Clairview, been to Greenhill Beach to relax, or thrown in a fishing line in Isaac, than you are in for an untold adventure.

“We have some top camping spots on our doorstep like Theresa Creek Dam, Lake Elphinstone and Windmill Bay in Cape Palmerston National Park.

“The Moranbah Coalface Art Gallery will also have One Million Stars exhibition on display from April 3-28 with a launch on April 6.

Share your child’s first scrapbook adventure Parents and carers of children under five are invited to create their very own Story Time Adventure Book.

The First 5 Forever Story Time sessions from April 18 to June 23 will feature the Adventure Book program.

“We know their first five years last a lifetime and that this is when up to 90% of a child’s brain development happens.”

Mayor Anne Baker said the sessions are an opportunity to create a wonderful book of memories with photos, art, craft, rhyme and story activities.

“Remember, joining your local library is free. Isaac Libraries have free resources and great activities for 0-5 year olds.”

“Children love talking about what they have seen and done, these books will become their very own personalised story.

“As well as being a treasured family keepsake, parents and caregivers can use the scrapbook as an easy tool to create conversations and boost their child’s language skills.

Isaac’s stars shine among one million stars to end violence Weave a star and start a conversation at Isaac Regional Council’s latest exhibition at the Moranbah Coalface Art Gallery this April.

More than 10,000 hand woven stars from across Isaac will be on display as part of the One Million Stars to End Violence exhibition from April 3 to 28.

This love and peace filled community project was started by Brisbane artist Maryann Talia Pau and is supported by Queensland Government.

Mayor Anne Baker said everyone is invited to attend the official launch at 10am on Thursday April 6.

“The stars will feature in a large scale public installation during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, a peaceful statement against all forms of violence in our communities.”

“Come along and take a stand against violence within our community.

“One Million Stars to End Violence is a peaceful global weaving project that engages communities in a conversation about ending all forms of violence,” she said.

“One million stars represents how monumental the task of ending violence.

“It demonstrates that everyone needs to participate to end all forms of violence.

“Each star represents a person’s commitment to practice light, hope, courage and solidarity.

“You can drop in weave a star and become part of Isaac’s community of courage to end violence.”

Clermont Ladies Netball This season for ladies netball we have decided to do something different.

We are hoping to run a split competition with two different grades: ‘competitive’ and ‘social’.

The games will still be played on Tuesday nights and will run parallel with each other.

We are taking individual and team nominations.

To nominate a team: Message us with your team name, captain (inc contact number and email address), bib colour and your choice of whether you want to nominate for the social or competitive competition.

To nominate as an individual: Message us with your name, contact number and email address, preferred playing positions, and which competition you would like to play in.

PLEASE NOTE the split competition is entirely dependent on the number of nominations we receive. Neither grade can go ahead if we have less than four teams in each.

In the event that we don’t reach the desired number of teams, we will consider other options on how to grade the competition (ie handicap points, incorporating grading rounds etc).

What’s happening in Storytime?

‘4721 Star Challenge’

It will be a celebration of Easter for Storytimers on April 7.

The Clermont community has made more than 2800 stars for the ‘One Million Stars to End Violence’ star weaving project.

Make a scary movie trailer As part of Youth Week (March 31 to April 9, 2017) celebrations, Isaac Libraries will hold a Make a Scary Movie Trailer workshop where participants will plan, shoot and edit a 30 - 45 second scary film trailer.

Clermont Library will hold the workshops on Tuesday April 4 and Thursday April 6 from 10am 11.30am.

These workshops are for children aged 10 years and up, and will be held in the first week of the School Holiday Activities Program.

Easter-themed craft activities will be held on Tuesday April 11 and Thursday April 13 from 10am 11am.

Snakes will slither into the Storytime spotlight today.

Storytime will not be held on April 14 as the library will be closed for Easter.

Can Clermont rise to the challenge of making the same number of stars to match its postcode of 4721?

Storytime starts again on April 21 with a Family theme, followed by a delightful Bugs theme on April 28.

We have a star weaving station set up for people to drop in anytime during opening hours to weave a star from ribbon.

Blue-Bots are Bluetooth floor robots that young children can learn sequencing, directionality, problemsolving, counting and estimation with by using simple command keys to make the Blue-Bots move about.

Blue-Bot sessions are aimed at children aged from four years and are held on Thursdays from 3.15pm - 4pm until the start of Term 2.

Library program/event bookings Bookings are essential, call the Clermont Library on 4846 3746.

Please note: children 12 years and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times when visiting the library, including during organised programs.

Children love Baby Bounce, Storytime, Craft and Rhymetime The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions. They are a good way to connect with other parents with young children.

Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song.

Rhymetime and Craft is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs.

Storytime and Craft time for the littlies is held at the Clermont Library every Friday from 9.30am to 10.30am and caters for children up to Prep age.

Baby Bounce is held on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years.
