Promising sales for Isaac cattle producers It was a promising sale for Isaac cattle producers at Clermont’s recent Prime and Store Cattle Sale, with 1912 head of cattle and 22 calves yarded and prices seeing higher returns than last year. Taking place at the Clermont Sale Yards on Wednesday February 18, the sale saw Weaner Steers topping at $248.2 c/kg and best of the cows at $205.2c/kg. The Sale’s Market Report shows prices came in across the board but were up from last year’s final sale, giving promising signs for the year ahead.
Hoch & Wilkinson agent, Jake Passfield was impressed on how prices held up considering the number of cattle hitting the market at the moment. “Considering the 1900 head local cattle being offered for sale, prices held relatively stable throughout the day. The quality of yarding was also very good,” he said. Isaac Regional Councillor and grazier Dale Appleton said the local confidence in the Beef Industry has picked up. “It’s good to see the market stabilising in a positive direction.
We’re all hoping this is a good sign for the year ahead,” he said. “There’s a new vet crush here at the yards and I’m glad that was ready to be put to work,” Cr Appleton said. Market highlights from the sale include: Gay Deaves “Mt. Commissioner” sold a quality line of Droughtmaster steers with the lead pen selling for 230.2c/kg weighing an average of 324kg to return $747.38/Hd along with a stylish pen of Droughtmaster heifers reaching to 204.2c/kg
with a weight of 281kg to return $575.16/Hd. Doug Finch “The Springs” sold a pen of Braford steers that made 220.2c/kg, weighing 396kg Av. to return a nice $873.46/Hd. Jade & Melisa Schafer sold a pen of steers making 221.2c/kg weighing in at 340kg to return $752/Hd. Sales at the Clermont Sale Yards take place on the second Wednesday of each month.
