CLERMONT RAG FRIDAY MAY 04, 2018
Scott Hensley, representing the proud history of the light horsemen, leads the Anzac Day Parade.
ANZACS HONOURED ACROSS ISAAC A strong sense of solidarity and sentiment honoured the memory of our Anzacs with over 16 services held across Isaac.
“In pausing to commemorate those who have served and sacrificed, our thoughts also go out to those who are still serving on the frontlines.
Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker offered solemn recognition toward those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
“To our army, air force and navy personnel presently on active service overseas, those supporting them and the families who are waiting for their loved ones to return.”
“The names of fallen soldiers are not only etched in bronze and stone on memorials across Isaac, but also in the collective consciousness of a grateful nation,” Mayor Baker said. “Anzac Day remains a defining moment in the shared history of Australia and New Zealand. “That legacy lives on, with the qualities of mateship, courage and sacrifice embodied by those first Anzacs very much defining our national character and what it is to be Australian.

On April 24, 1918, Australian troops staged a daring attack under the cover of darkness to recapture the town from German forces. Following a night of house-to-house fighting, Australian forces liberated the village by dawn on Anzac Day, 1918.
