Clermont celebrates best in beef A range of industry experts and producers from across Queensland braved the heat to gather at the Clermont showgrounds and saleyards for the third annual Clermont Beef Expo and Trade Display on Wednesday October 28. Mayor Anne Baker said Isaac Regional Council was proud to be a major sponsor and support the productive and sustainable industry that is helping to feed Australia and the world. “I would like to congratulate the event organisers Hoch and Wilkinson and Clermont Agencies for putting on a great day for industry.” “Also congratulations to all the award winners including local producer Peter Wharley from Reklaw Cattle Co who won the IRC Grand Champion Exhibit.” Mayor Baker said agriculture is a vital part of the Isaac region’s economy and way of life.
“Our farmers form a thriving $303 million industry in livestock, broad acre farming, sugar and fishing.” “Our crop producing and cattle country is among Australia’s most valuable, Isaac’s $212 million beef industry supplies 64% of the total gross livestock value for the broader Mackay Isaac Whitsunday region.” “Events like the Clermont Beef Expo, focused on sustainable production, are vital to our local producers”. A forum led by local cattle producer John Burnett at the expo addressed the ‘W.H.Y of Equity Partnerships’ addressing the benefits for producers and the agribusiness sector. The forum featured guest speakers John Kotzur, Partner at Hanrick Curran, Craig Price, General Manager Livestock at Kilcoy Pastoral Co, Mark Cook Managing Director of Cue Agribusiness, and Emma Robinson beef producer with her husband Michael Duckett, Mark Morton CEO of Practical Systems Ltd.
