COUNCIL MEETING MAKES A MOVE TO MISTAKE CREEK The Isaac region’s decision-making forum will head to a small rural community near Clermont to provide residents an opportunity to connect with Councillors. For the past two years, Isaac Regional Council has rotated the location of its Ordinary Monthly Meeting around the communities of the region on a bi-monthly basis. Mayor Anne Baker said Councillors would like to invite community members to view the process of local government in action at Mistake Creek State School. “This decision is about improving representation, inclusion and community engagement, which are key principles of the Local Government Act,” Mayor Baker said. “We cover more than 58,000 square kilometres and our region is home to 17 very unique communities. “The tyranny of distance means it is not always possible for people to make it to Moranbah. We’ve held meetings in Clermont, Middlemount, Nebo and Carmila this year and to great community success.

“This will provide local residents and community groups a greater opportunity to engage with the full council, in addition to their divisional representative.” Division 1 Cr Greg Austen said the community is invited to join Councillors of the Isaac region for a free community barbecue at Mistake Creek State School from 12.30pm to 2pm. “There will also be a roads update during this community catch-up,” he said. Division 6 Cr Lyn Jones said this is a chance to come and meet your Councillors and talk about issues of importance to your local community in a relaxed setting. “There will also be a community barbecue in the Clermont Civic Centre Supper Room from 5pm to 6.30pm,” Cr Jones said. “We’d love to see you there.”
Meeting will be held on Tuesday, 24 September at Mistake Creek.
