“If you are up for an adventure, put on your hiking boots and go bushwalking around one of the many national parks.”

Mayor Anne Baker said parents will be pleased with the free, fun and jam-packed school holiday program inside and out.

“Clamber up Mount Funnel at Cape Palmerston National Park or Wolfgang Peak at Peak Range National Park and admire the scenic views.”

“There are winter crafts, Ozobots, story time, rhyme time and much more at Isaac Libraries and free Revolutions Skateboarding Workshops in skate parks.”

Mayor Baker said residents can step back in time and learn about arts, culture and the history of Isaac.

“In the second week, Indigenous Artist Lloyd Hornsby will be hosting Boomerang and cap indigenous art workshops celebrating NAIDOC Week (July 4-12).”

“For people looking to explore outdoors and get in touch with nature, Isaac has some top camping spots right on our doorstep.”

“From Theresa Creek Dam, Lake Elphinstone, St Lawrence Recreation Grounds to Windmill Bay, there are plenty of places to get away,” she said.

But if camping is just not for you, Isaac provides plenty of other things to do with great public spaces, parks, playgrounds, and pools.

“Stop by the Clermont Historical Centre and the Nebo Historical Museum. Opening times vary and a small entry fee applies. There is also the Coalface Arts Gallery.”

“If you’re looking to strike gold, grab a fossicking kit from the Council office in Clermont and try your luck.”

All fossickers require a fossicking licence and must comply with the special conditions of access.

The June - July holidays will begin Friday 24 June and end Monday 11 July.

Let’s talk about...looking after your ears!

Some common ear problems can include:

Trauma- a blow to the ear or foreign bodies lodged in the ear.

What to do: See your GP if you suspect an ear infection.

What to do: Seek urgent medical attention if you have suffered ear trauma or have a foreign object stuck in your ear. It is not advised to remove foreign objects from the ear yourself.

Ear infection - usually caused by a virus or bacteria.

Symptoms may include pain, discharge, deafness and balance problems.

Hearing Loss - can be short or long term. Causes can include illness, noise exposure, some medications, trauma and age.

What to do: If you experience a sudden hearing loss, see your GP immediately. Do not adopt a ‘wait and see’ policy. If you feel your hearing is slowly deteriorating, book a hearing screen at the Clermont Hearing Clinic on 4983 4000.

Tinnitus - Noises or ringing in the ears when no external noise is present. Tinnitus can be caused by exposure to loud noise, Meniere’s disease, some medications, extreme stress or trauma.

What to do: Tinnitus is manageable with some lifestyle changes. If you suspect you have tinnitus or are experiencing some symptoms, see your GP or book an appointment with Clermont Hearing Clinic for further information and management advice 4983 4000.

World renowned artist returns for NAIDOC Week World renowned contemporary Aboriginal artist, Lloyd Hornsby Gawura, is set to share his award winning skills, hosting art workshops across Isaac for NAIDOC Week 2016.

Mayor Anne Baker said Council was excited to have Lloyd back again this year to host workshops for children and adults at Isaac Libraries.

Monday July 4 at Clermont library:

“Lloyd uses his art as a bridge between Indigenous and NonIndigenous communities.

“This year is bigger and better with more workshops on offer including free Boomerang and Cap art classes for children, Bark/leaf painting workshops, community art workshops and a master class for adults.”

These workshops were made possible thanks to a grant from the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF). The RADF is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Isaac Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.

These people will appear in court, will be fined and will lose their license. If this comes as a shock to them that is unfortunate as everyone knows the rules and consequences for breaking them.

On the crime front we have had one break in reported in Collins Street where a garage door was found open that had been secured by the tenants. A pair of pliers were on the driveway which may indicate how the culprits managed to open the door. A young male person has also been caught on CCTV footage at Beales stealing items, yes that's right smile your on camera. Clermont Police are following up this matter also. Any information please

The campdraft on the weekend saw some issues in the way the bar was run and the breaches of the liquor permit will also going to be going to court in September. A male person has also been fined for creating a public nuisance through disorderly conduct at the end of the night. If you obtain a community liquor permit for an event make sure you abide by the conditions of the permit.

That is proper signage, stick to the time allowed for sale and consumption, have your permit always displayed for anyone to see and most

of all have someone with an RSA supervising your volunteer staff.

These are standard conditions, that is everyone has to abide by them. If you can't work them out or have lost them come and see me and I can give you an extra copy and explain them. Any extra conditions imposed also have to be strictly followed. If you intend to make money from selling liquor it has to be done responsibly and within the law. Hoteliers have to pay large sums of money to be allowed to profit from liquor sales, respect the privilege you are allowed please.

Isaac introduces two-part water tariff Isaac Regional Council has introduced a two-part water tariff to comply with the state legislation.

“The allocation will give people more time to develop their water-saving habits,” she said.

Mayor Anne Baker said the new user pays system enables ratepayers to monitor their water use and costs and is an opportunity for high users to change their water consumption habits.

“Council will issue an example water notice to ratepayers in early July this year and will provide more tools to show how they can save money by saving water.”

“While Isaac communities have paid an access charge as part of their rates for some time, this will be first time Council has charged the whole region for water consumption.”

Council is also launching MiWater from July 1, a website where ratepayers can sign up to receive water consumption information at www.isaac.qld.gov.au/ miwater.

“The Water Access Charge covers the cost of owning, operating, maintaining and managing the water supply facilities and network in eight communities across Isaac.”

“You will be able to set email and SMS alerts and be notified of water leaks and high consumption within days of occurrence.”

“To give people time to adjust, the average household will have a water allocation of 300 kilolitres (kl) in 201617,” she said.

This is split into two equal parts over two water notices (150 kL per six months). Further consumption for 2016-17 will be charged: •

from 150kL to 300kL at $0.80 per kilolitre per six months

“The Local Government Act 2009 requires Council to charge for every kilolitre used so Council will be phasing the water allocation out over the next four years to comply.”

From July 1, ratepayers can sign up to MiWater to receive water consumption information to see where they can save.

Fossicking licence clarification Recently the Library has had a lot of enquiries around purchasing fossicking licences.

We would like to let the community know that the Clermont Library does not sell fossicking licences.

In Clermont, fossicking licences can be purchased online through the Queensland Government website at www.qld.gov.au/recreation/activities/fossicking/licencespermits/purchases/ or in store at the Clermont Caravan Park, Haig Street.

People can purchase internet time on the library’s public computers to buy a fossicking licence online.

To purchase a fossicking licence, you must have your own email address and either a Visa or Mastercard credit/debit card.

The Clermont Library runs three children’s sessions a week and all programs are aimed at helping young children develop their literacy, numeracy and language skills from a young age, through singing nursery rhymes, performing action songs and reading books.

Come and quill Quilling is the art of curling paper into delicate shapes such as circles, squares and teardrops and making designs or pictures.

A quilling workshop for children is one of the holiday craft sessions being held at the Clermont Library during the school holidays.

The library’s holiday craft sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 11am to 12 noon, during the school holidays.

First Five Forever The First Five Forever program aims to give children from birth to five years old the best chance in life and improve literacy outcomes. Babies and children love sharing stories and it’s never too early to talk, read and tell stories with your child.

Children love Baby Bounce, Storytime, Craft and Rhymetime Have you recently moved to Clermont with a young family and want to meet other young families.

The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions and these are a good way to connect with other parents with young children.

Rhymetime and Craft is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs.

Baby Bounce is held on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years.

Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song.

Storytime and Craft time for the littlies is held at the Clermont Library every Friday from 9.30am to 10.30am and caters for children up to Prep age.

CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane.

While simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps. This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas.

Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level.

Circuit training This is a form of body conditioning or resistance training using high-intensity/ low-intensity aerobic energy.

It targets strength building and muscular endurance. An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness.

XT - THUMP boxing it’s a nice way to start your day. This class incorporates 10mins of circuit cardio, 10mins strength training and 20mins thump boxing. A fully functional total body workout that burns, burns, burns.

80’s Night This will be a quick 30 minute aerobic workout inspired by the ‘Greats’ of the 80’s. It will incorporate acerbic movement, 80’s Step Aerobics and some of the old time chain dances. It’s fitness and fun in one!

Open gym This is your opportunity to use the Gym facilities, there will be a basic weights program and WOD on offer for your utilisation, or you could just be creative and do your own training.

Metafit This is a 30 minute bodyweight training system that gets results! It is a functional and effective, metabolic workout that will change the way you train. Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit combines the latest HIIT techniques with traditional ‘old school’ bodyweight exercises to set the metabolism on fire!

Lets lift This program has been designed to target the eight large muscle groups in a 45 minute whole body workout. This is achieved through the use of Barbell and Dumbbell weights. This class is suitable for all fitness levels.

Tennis News 2016 Junior tennis 1st Semester finished last Tuesday. The results are: 12 years + Highest Points-Will McMahon, Runner Up-Robyn-leigh vanZyl and Most Improved PlayerDaniel Jackman. Thank you Nina Hensley for once again coaching these kids.

9-11years Highest Points -Jackson Brown, Runner up- on equal points was: Elysah Pitakia and Olivia Gillies.
