BACKING RACE CARNIVAL TO BE A WINNER Five local races and a high stakes fashions on the field contest are set to heat up the track at Pepperina Park this Saturday July 28.

An annual event, the Tony Kenny Memorial Cup hosted by the Clermont Race Club honours former local racing legend and club stalwart Tony ‘Pud’ Kenny.

Mayor Anne Baker said the community event also served to promote the rich agricultural heritage, and social significance of racing in the region.

“Isaac Regional Council is proud to support the Clermont Race Club to host the Tony Kenny Memorial Cup,” Mayor Baker said.

KICKS, FLICKS AND BUFFALO TRICKS An Emerald-based author with an exciting and adventurous rural background is set to visit Isaac to inspire dreams and possibilities in young children.

Judy Anne Dalrymple will visit libraries across the region during August to read her new picture book Buffalo Girl.

Buffalo Girl is the first book in the series and focuses on encouraging young children to ‘have a go’ and try new things.

Based on a true story, children will be enchanted by the fun and adventure of a young girl who trains a water buffalo to perform tricks.”

The author’s experience traveling and working in rural communities all over Australia and her passion for the bush was reflected in the book.

A mother to three active young boys, Mrs Dalrymple divides her time between family, writing and involvement in a number of community events in Clermont.

PROPOSED ISAAC REGIONAL PLANNING SCHEME PUBLIC CONSULTATION Isaac Regional Council is seeking community feedback on the Proposed Isaac Regional Planning Scheme.

The proposed scheme, when adopted, will provide a singular planning framework for the entire Isaac region.

It will consolidate and replace the three legacy schemes from the former shires which now comprise the Isaac local government area.

These include the: Belyando Planning Scheme 2009; Nebo Planning Scheme 2008; and Broadsound Planning Scheme 2005.

The new Planning Scheme, when adopted, is also proposed to replace the existing Moranbah Urban Development Area Development Scheme.

An important part of the planning scheme development process, and the proposed revocation of the Moranbah Priority Development Area, is consulting with the community and stakeholders in relation to the proposed document.

The consultation process will commence on 16 July 2018 and continue until 7 September 2018.

The proposed planning scheme documentation can be viewed online or downloaded from Council’s website isaac.qld.gov.au/ planningscheme or inspected in hard copy at any of Council’s regional offices during this time.

Face-to-face opportunities for members of the community to ask Council’s town planning team questions about the proposed planning scheme will be advertised soon.

WHAT IS A PLANNING SCHEME? A planning scheme describes Council’s plan for the future direction of the region by providing a framework for planning and development.

It helps to address the economic, social and environmental needs and aspirations of local communities and the wider region, focusing on land use, development, infrastructure and valuable features of the area.

Specifically, a planning scheme:  Regulates future development and land use activities;  Identifies the region’s preferred growth pattern;  Manages community, state and regional interests and expectations; and  Includes a Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) to ensure communities and businesses have the right services.

HOW WILL IT AFFECT YOU? The proposed Isaac Regional Planning Scheme will apply to land that you own or rent.

It also applies to the land around you, affects what you can do with your land and what your neighbour can do with theirs.

The proposed planning scheme may result in changes to the way you use your property in the future.

MAKING A SUBMISSION As the formulation of a new planning scheme is governed by a statutory process, feedback in relation to the proposed provisions of the Isaac Regional Planning Scheme must be captured by way of a formal written submission to ensure it is properly documented.

PUBLIC NOTICES 1080 WILD DOG AND FERAL PIG BAITING PROGRAM 2018 Isaac Regional Council would like to advise all graziers that a second round of baiting will be conducted during the period below to provide landholders with an opportunity to undertake further control of wild dog and feral pig populations.

Currently this baiting period is scheduled for the dates below: Monday, August 27 to Friday, September 21 Manufactured baits are available outside of these times, orders must be made in advance and delivery is approximately three weeks from order date.

Manufactured baits are supplied ‘at cost’ and are available for purchase through Council.

CR LYN’S COLUMN Just came back from attending our nephew’s wedding. Absolutely beautiful afternoon and evening with wedding party looking radiant. The wedding and reception were in of Rockhampton and you guessed it, I got lost. Fair dinkum, even the GPS would not cooperate. It was lucky it didn’t end up under the wheel of my car.

I guess there’s always going to be some that are not happy with what we decided however, it was really is a massive job.

We’ve tried to get it right and we’ve done the very best we can.

Thank goodness I wasn’t the only one that got lost. Pretty sure the other person will know exactly who I am talking about. We Clermont people, shivered pretty well throughout. It was very cold but I guess that’s fair enough considering it is winter.

To a lighter note, Axel has been his usual spoilt self and I am fairly certain that a dog does not need to have 8 or more treats a day. He bunts his treat tin with his boofy head and will just stand next to it until I give in and get him a treat.

Think I may need to go to person training school (if there is such a thing) and learn how to say “NO” to him. One thing for sure is though; I bet he is glad that he has never slept a night outside in the cold.

By the time you read this, the Isaac Regional Council’s 2018-19 Budget will be out for the next 12 months. What a job it is to try and make sure that all areas of our region get a fair and equitable break up of what money there is. Many, many, many hours were put in to making our final decisions.

Don’t forget that this Saturday we have the Clermont Races. Time to get all gussied up and enjoy the event.

All MetaPWR workouts use the entire body,involving your upper and lower body and core muscles.

Muscle is metabolically active tissue, so the more muscles you work the more calories you burn.

The more calories you burn, the more productive your workouts will be and the faster you will lose fat.

CIRCUIT TRAINING: This is a form of body conditioning or resistance training using highintensity/low-intensity aerobic energy. It targets strength building and muscular endurance.

An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program.

It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness.

METAFIT: This is a 30 minutes bodyweight training system that gets results! It is a functional and effective, metabolic workout that will change the way you train.

Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit combines the latest HIIT techniques with traditional ‘old school’ bodyweight exercises to set the metabolism on fire.
