Hats off to a good read: Eva Graham ready to join in the fun of National Simultaneous Storytime at Isaac Libraries from May 23-26.
Hats are a hit at Isaac Libraries
Book in for National Simultaneous Storytime Eager readers and young hat enthusiasts will don their best head gear to celebrate 2016 National Simultaneous Storytime on May 25. Mayor Anne Baker said Isaac Libraries will join locations across Australia to read ‘I Got This Hat’ by Jol and Kate Temple and illustrated by Jon Foye. “It’s a great free, fun family event that promotes the incredible value of reading, Australia’s book industry and the vital role libraries play in our communities. “Every year a book by an Australian author, illustrator and publisher is featured as part of National Simultaneous Storytime,” she said. “The annual event brings together thousands of children in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places across Australia to read a book at the same time. “Due to Clermont Show Holiday on May 25, Isaac Libraries will host events throughout the week from May 23-26. “Everyone is welcome to wear their favourite hat and join in the activities including book readings, hat craft and singing.” Organised by the Australian Library and Information Association, the event is in its 16th year.
In 2015 over 500,000 children at over 3,100 locations across Australia took part in National Simultaneous Storytime, reading the book The Brothers Quibble, written and illustrated by Aaron Blabey.
