Tania Kernaghan to MC Mackay Region Tourism Awards One of Australia’s most loved and respected performers, Tania Kernaghan, has been announced as the Master of Ceremonies (MC) and performer at the 2015 Mackay Region Tourism Awards Gala Dinner in Clermont, May 1.
Tania Kernaghan is first and foremost a recording artist, and an integral member of the Kernaghan country music dynasty. As well as a list of impressive musical achievements including numerous Golden Guitar Awards, her diverse career has also seen her present on TV programs such as What’s
up Down Under and Queensland Weekender, as well as entertaining on horseback at rodeos and equine events across Australia. Australian through and through, Tania was excited to help promote excellence in tourism for regional areas of Queensland such as Mackay and Isaac, when Mackay Tourism approached her earlier this year. “I am thrilled to be the MC at this years Mackay Region Tourism Awards in Clermont.”, Ms Kernaghan said. “It will be a fabulous night, as we recognise and honour those businesses who have excelled in the tourism industry. Plus, I will be performing some of my original songs which were written and inspired by the magnificent Mackay and central west districts.” Stephen Schwer, General Manager of Mackay Tourism, said he was thrilled to have Tania attend this important regional event. ‘The tourism awards isn’t just for the tourism industry. It’s going to be a fun night in Clermont, and with Tanya’s amazing talent, it’s going to be a night to remember!’ Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said the Clermont community is looking forward to celebrating the creativity, professionalism and innovation of the region’s tourism industry. “As a frontier town and one of the most historic parts of Queensland, Clermont is the perfect setting to celebrate the pioneers of our tourism industry.” “I hope attendees will take advantage of the opportunity to soak up the relaxed atmosphere at the idyllic Theresa Creek Dam, enjoy a stroll along the Clermont Hoods Lagoon, and take in the thought provoking Anzac exhibition at the Clermont Historical Centre.” The Mackay Region Tourism Awards acknowledges the achievements of tourism and hospitality operators and service providers in our region. They also encourage excellence in the industry and promote growth in tourism products and services. Tourism businesses including accommodation, restaurants, attractions and tours have nominated and written submissions are due March 30. Judges will perform site visits throughout April, with awards presented to successful businesses at the gala dinner. Preceding the awards is the Mackay Region Tourism Conference in Clermont, April 30. This is an event for businesses to share ideas, hear from nationally recognised speakers and network with like-minded industry colleagues.
