Isaac Regional Council sworn in The Isaac region’s newly elected Council was sworn in at a special ceremony in Moranbah on April 4.
Deputy Mayor Bethel said he felt privileged to have been nominated to the role.
Mayor Anne Baker and eight Councillors were sworn in representing the region’s eight divisions for a term of four years.
“It’s an honour to continue representing the Isaac, and I look forward to the challenges and progress of the next four years,” he said.
Mayor Anne Baker, Division 3 Councillor Gina Lacey and Division 7 Councillor Jane Pickels were re-elected unopposed.
Mayor Anne Baker acknowledged the contribution of outgoing Division 6 Councillor Barbara Stranks, and all the candidates who nominated in the local government elections.
One newly elected member took her place on Council; Cr Lynette Jones representing Clermont in Division 6. Councillor Geoff Bethel was unanimously appointed Deputy Mayor, bringing a wealth of local government experience to the role. Mayor Baker said it was a significant show of confidence from the community to be re-elected as Mayor along with a largely unchanged Council. “It’s humbling and pleasing to see the community’s faith in Council’s current leadership,” she said. “We are excited to start work straight away in building a stronger region and delivering positive outcomes for our people.”
