Growing up in Clermont Calendar Launch contributed by Debbie Byrne
The launch of the calendar went extremely well. A small, but very supportive gathering at the RSL Club on Wednesday July 1. We also had a good show of support from the GUIC Administration team. Four of us attended and also Kate Keyte who was the photographer of the first “Icon” calendar. The GUIC Group raised about $350 dollars which will go towards the next print of the 18mth calendar. Donations were presented to Peggy Williams, the Clermont representative of Rockhampton and CQ Legacy Inc for $350 and $500 to Juanita Finger, treasurer of Clermont and Districts Serviceman’s Club. These were the funds raised from the Icons Calendar, after the group purchased coolers and mugs with the signature logo and outlay for the first print of this new calendar. This merchandise is available for sale at Head To Toes in Cornett’s Plaza, at the local Senior Citizen’s Markets and on the GUIC FaceBook page via email.
Ms Finger said they were very grateful for the generous donation from the Growing Up In Clermont Group. She said Clermont and Districts Servicemen’s Club were very impressed with the presentation and formatting of the calendar, and in particular, the tribute to the local War Heroes. Legacy’s Peggy Williams said she wanted to thank the group for their kind support. “I would like to thank Debbie and the GUIC group for this donation and appreciate them thinking of Legacy,” she said. We have a Father’s Day raffle running at the moment with tickets being $1 each. The prize includes 2 x logo mugs, 2 x logo coolers and the 18Month Calendar - a Tribute to Our War Heroes and 100 years on from the Great Flood. The raffle will be drawn on Saturday September 5 at the markets, just in time for Father’s Day.
