Open for business September 20: Council welcomes the new lessees of the Clermont Swimming Centre Matthew Martin and Hayley Camman from Aquacomm

Isaac Pools to open in time for swimming season Isaac Pools will open in time for swimming season after undergoing maintenance during winter.

“Some had broken and cracked tiles replaced and expansion joints repaired.

Substantial part restorations works were rolled out as part of a seven year asset management plan.

“Others had new water pumps and filters installed just to name a few.

Mayor Anne Baker said they will help maintain the structural integrity and water quality of the pools.

“We look forward to delivering the pool works as part of the 2016-17 New Capital Budget.

“Council understands how important pools are to our communities, especially living in a hot climate.

The pool works align with Council’s strategic plans to provide safe and cost effective community facilities and venues.

“Works will wrap up in time for the start of the swimming season with some to be ready for the start of the school holidays.

“Council apologises for the extended closure of the pools and appreciates the community’s understanding.

A wonderful night was had by all and we thank you all for coming along and having a great time.

It was fantastic that everyone came in cosutme which helped to create such a wonderful atmosphere.

The hall which was themed for the evening, was great.

Without everyone’s fantastic support our Charity would not be able to support our 50 students in receiving an education.

Register your mate and save Renewal notices to take advantage of Council’s early bird discount on dog registration will hit letterboxes from September 12.

Dog owners are encouraged to renew registrations during September 12 – October 14 to receive a generous 50% fee reduction.

Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said roaming and unregistered dogs are a region-wide concern.

“Dog owners will be held accountable if their dogs are found wandering and unregistered,” she said.

“Not only is this a danger to public safety, but it makes it difficult to return animals safely to their owners without registered details.

“If you own a dog please be responsible and make sure it’s registered, micro-chipped, properly fenced and cared for.”

Residents can visit www.isaac.qld.gov.au/dogregistration or their local Council office to fill out the registration form and make payment.

Council advises if unregistered dogs are impounded, their owners will pay an impoundment fee and registration fee before their dog is released home.

If you find someone else’s pet roaming the streets, phone 1300 ISAACS (47 22 27) and notify the local laws officer of its description and location.

Unregistered dogs and first-time registrations will not receive a renewal notice and do not qualify for a discount.

Fund calls for projects to stop domestic violence Are you a not-for-profit organisation working in the area of domestic violence? Are you in need of more funding?

Isaac Regional Charity Fund Director and Mayor Anne Baker said the IRCF is seeking projects that prevent, educate and/or support work to bring domestic violence to an end.

“The Isaac Regional Charity Fund (IRCF) first giftgiving round opened Monday September 12.”

“Last year the Mayor’s Charity Ball raised $39,946, 50 per cent of the proceeds, $19,973, was donated to White Ribbon.”

“We are now inviting not-for-profit organisations to apply to our fund for grants of up to $5,000 for grassroots, charitable projects in Isaac.

Grant applications may be lodged by mail, fax or email, and must be received by the closing date, 5.00pm. The completed grant application form should be sent to: The Chair, Grants Committee, Isaac Regional Charity Fund, PO Box 330, Moranbah QLD 4744 IRCF is only able to fund organisations that have DGR1 status.

We are privileged to have experienced those beautiful little people we were given the opportunity to teach water familiarity. Thanks to the parents who realise you have to push their boundaries, and let us do so.

Gather friends and weave a star

First Five Forever

Get a group of friends together or come on your own to the Clermont Library to join in the ‘One Million Stars to End Violence’ star weaving project.

The First Five Forever program aims to give children from birth to five years old the best chance in life and improve literacy outcomes.

‘One Millions Stars to End Violence’ is love and peace filled community project started by Brisbane artist Maryann Talia Pau and supported by the Queensland Government.

Babies and children love sharing stories and it’s never too early to talk, read and tell stories with your child.

We have a star weaving station set up for people to drop in anytime during opening hours to weave a star from ribbon. Isaac’s goal is to weave 10,000 stars to contribute to the display at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. All stars created will be on display at Isaac Libraries until July 2017 before being added to the display for the Commonwealth Games.

School holiday craft Primary school age children are invited to come along to the Clermont Library during the school holidays for craft activities and to learn how make a woven star for the ‘One Million Stars to End Violence Project.

Clermont Library school holiday craft activities will be held on Tuesday September 20 and 27, Thursday September 22 and 29 from 10.30am to 11.30am.

All sessions are limited to 15 children and bookings are essential. The Thursday craft sessions will be devoted to making woven stars for the ‘One Million Stars to End Violence Project’.

Calling ye Storytime pirates National Talk Like a Pirate Day will be held on Monday September 19 and all things ‘piratey’ will be the theme for Storytime on Friday 23 September. Ye be welcome to come dressed in ye ‘piratey’ best for a swashbuckling Storytime adventure on a pirate ship.

New arrivals Recent arrivals in DVDs includes the following: Jurassic World, Paper Towns, Wild,Sicario, Miss You Already, A Walk in the Woods Bag a book bargain If you are going away during the school holidays and want some books to read, drop in and check out the Clermont Library Book Sale. Most of the books and items on sale are preloved library books in good condition and paperbacks, magazines and CDs are priced at $2, hardbacks and DVDs cost $3 or buy a bag of books for $12. Stock is constantly being added to the sale shelves.

The Clermont Library runs three children’s sessions a week and all programs are aimed at helping young children develop their literacy, numeracy and language skills from a young age, through singing nursery rhymes, performing action songs and reading books.

Children love Baby Bounce, Storytime, Craft and Rhymetime Have you recently moved to Clermont with a young family and want to meet other young families?

The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions. They are a good way to connect with other parents with young children.

Rhymetime and Craft is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs.

Baby Bounce is held on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years. Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song.

Storytime and Craft time for the littlies is held at the Clermont Library every Friday from 9.30am to 10.30am and caters for children up to Prep age.

CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast Is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane. While simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps. This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level.

Circuit training This is a form of body conditioning or resistance training using highintensity/low-intensity aerobic energy.

It targets strength building and muscular endurance. An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness.

XT - THUMP boxing It’s a nice way to start your day. This class incorporates 10mins of circuit cardio, 10mins strength training and 20mins thump boxing. A fully functional total body workout that burns, burns, burns.

80’s Night This will be a quick 30mins aerobic workout inspired by the ‘Greats’ of the 80’s. It will incorporate acerbic movement, 80’s Step Aerobics and some of the old time chain dances.

It’s fitness and fun in one!

Open gym This is your opportunity to use the Gym facilities, there will be a basic weights program and WOD on offer for your utilisation, or you could just be creative and do your own training.

Metafit This is a 30mins bodyweight training system that gets results!

It is a functional and effective, metabolic workout that will change the way you train. Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit combines the latest HIIT techniques with traditional ‘old school’ bodyweight exercises to set the metabolism on fire!

Lets lift This program has been designed to target the eight large muscle groups in a 45mins whole body workout.

This is achieved through the use of Barbell and Dumbbell weights. This class is suitable for all fitness levels.
