1916 flood victims honoured in Clermont Victims of Clermont’s devastating 1916 flood will be honoured during a commemorative plaque unveiling ceremony, tomorrow Saturday October 1.
School holidays are a perfect time to explore the exhibition with the centre open Wednesday to Saturday, 9am to 3pm.
The ceremony will take place from 9am at Clermont’s Ivan Bettridge Park and is part of Isaac Regional Council’s flood centenary commemorations.

Mayor Anne Baker said more than 60 men, women and children tragically lost their lives.
‘A Flood of Memories’ Exhibition • On display now until December 2017
“This was one of the deadliest floods in Australian history. “Council along with Monash Lodge is proud to unveil a bronze plaque to remember with respect and dignity the lives lost and commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Flood. “A second plaque has also been installed along Hoods Lagoon, on the concrete footing of the original bridge, which was washed away in 1916.” Relive stories of courage, heroism and tragedy at the Clermont Historical Centre’s ‘A Flood of Memories’ Exhibition.
