Look out for rates notices arriving soon Keep an eye on your letterbox with rates notices set to arrive shortly. Chief Executive Officer Gary Stevenson PSM said prompt payment of rates will secure a 10 per cent discount, if paid before Wednesday October 5. “Rates, collected from more than 10,000 Isaac properties, will help Council deliver essential services and capital projects. “These include maintenance and upgrades to local roads and water infrastructure to resource recovery, public facilities and much more. “For a great overview of how your rates are spent, check out the ‘Where Do My Rates Go?’ factsheet included in your rates notice. “You can also view Council’s new capital works expenditure in the 2016-17 Budget on Council’s website.”
Council rates and charges that remain unpaid after October 5 will incur 11 per cent interest per annum, compounded daily. The 10 per cent discount applies to general rates, and excludes all special rates and charges, provided outstanding amounts and overdue rates and interest are paid in full by the due date. If you have not received your rates notice by September 19, please contact Council. Ratepayers can register their details and speak to Council’s Rating Team by phoning 1300 ISAACS (1300 47 22 27) or email records@isaac.qld.gov.au between 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. To view a full breakdown of rates categories please view Council’s 2016-17 Budget – Connecting Our Communities at www.isaac.qld.gov.au
Ratepayers who have encountered delays with the postal service in their area can register an email address with Council. “Council is happy to help by sending an additional electronic copy of your rates notice to a nominated email,” said Mr Stevenson. “It’s important for ratepayers to update their postal details with Council to ensure rates notices arrive on time. “Some financial institutions can take up to three working days to process an electronic payment. “So please check with your bank or credit union to ensure your payment is received by Council in time to secure your discount.” Anyone wanting to prepay their rates notices is able to do so through the normal payment channels, and can contact Council’s Rates Officers to receive advice on the estimated amount.
